CtA26 - First steps with Hastarii
Hi Folks,
After some hesitation sI have decided to enlist once again on the Imperium side with the target to clear my AdMech backlog.
First units started are the Hastarii. In fact these are not the one I should have started with but I was keener on trying a new unit rather than reinforcing an old one, even if, gamewise, getting a fully functionnal list at 100% completed head count could be wiser. On the other hand I do not plan getting a game before a few weeks, so it is not that critical.
I have sticked to my usual paint scheme and painting by part approach. Starting with the body is a nice painting experience: being bigger than Ranger, these models are also easier to paint. Or it is that I have accumulated enough practise?
At the moment I have 2 boxes that I split in 1 unit of Fusilliers and 1 unit of Exterminators.
Here is the current state before gleuing shoulder mounted pistols:
As I have written above, minis are chunkier. amount of details is similar to other Skitarii models, so, getting broader models make thes details more dispersed and easier to reach.
As for other Skitarii Infantery, many details painted on the premounted parts are in the end not seen on the model. Cables for elgs are a good example of that. But I have the personnal satisfaction to know that these have been carefully painted prior to the assembly of torso over legs. even if it is a little nit useless as a though.

Next steps are finishing the details on back packs and mounting the guns on the shoulders. then the HW. I'll have to unpack my Onagres in order to see how I have painted the large variants for reproducing the pattern on these heavy infantery models...
See you.
