"I carry with me an Inquisitorial Seal. It is a small, unassuming object contained in a neat box of Pluvian obsidian.
It is a modest thing. Relatively plain, adorned with a single motif and a simple motto.
Yet with this little object I can sign the death warrant of an entire world and consign a billion souls to Oblivion."
Thraviam Flast, Inquisitor of the Ordo Malleus
I enter the War Room of Enyalios with Inquisitor Melisende Tyre. My most trusted Acolyte and friend Mar Chaunt, had gathered 15 of my best Acolytes. Mar already selected my team without knowing the mission. We want to give them the option to go on the mission, which I know all but Pistoleer Wes Hardin and Deathworld Veteran Rip "Trey" Maxis, will accept. Wes and "Trey" both served with Mar and me under Inquisitor-Lord "Ares". So it will be personal for them. They also know Melisende and about of our relationship. Everyone else are experienced veterans with multiple missions under my command, except Daemonym Seeker Spencer. Mar trusts him, so I trust him.
"Agents, Inquisitor Tobis Thrace and Inquisitor Melisnede Tyre," announces Mar.
"Sir, Who is the Senior Inquisitor," asked Interrogator Maya Bikowsky.
"I am, Interrogator," I reply.
"Thank you, sir. Ma'am, I am Interrogator Maya Bikowsky," Interrogator Bikowsky says as she makes the sign of of the Aquilia.
"Well meet, Interrogator," replies Melisende returning her salute.
"Maya, please take over. Mar, Trey, and Wes please join Inquisitor Tyre and I, for a private meeting," I request gesturing to a private room across the hall.
The five of us walk into the room. Trey walks over and grabs a glass of amasec. Wes walks over to one of the chair and sits down. Mar stands near the door. Melisende and I stand next to the desk.
"Well, Tobias. I am not here for a reunion, and I am to old for this. Melisende, it is great to see you. " asks Trey as he sips the amasec.
I look at everyone. They all are looking at me.
"Ares," I say.
"What," Mar responds confused.
"We are going on a mission to help Inquisitor-Lord "Ares"," I say.
"Where," asks Trey
"Khymara, sub-sector," I reply.
"Frick," Wes says as she looks at her bionic arm and hand.
" We all almost died on mission with him there. He "died" there. And we are to go on mission to help him, In the same area," Trey says grabbing another drink.
"Trey, I need one of those, please," says Wes.
"You don't drink, Wes. You say it slows your reaction time," Trey responds pouring her a drink.
"I want you all to know, this is all your choice to go or not. We all have our feelings about Ares. We serve the God-Emperor not Ares, so if you do not want to go, I will not make you. As I said, it is your choice," I tell them.
"Well, I guess I have to die sometime," Wes says as she downs the Amasec in one swig.
"I have so many questions," asks Mar.
"I can tell you what I know, to help you make a decision," responds Melisende.
Melisende tells them everything they need to know to make an informed decision. Well what information she has. There are details she does not know or have. I have them. Everyone listening to her. Melisende finishes briefing them.
"Well," Melisende asks.
"Frick it. I am in," says Trey slamming another glass of Amasec.
"Me too," Wes says looking at her bionic arm and hand.
"I am not. I can not. We all know, why. I do not want to discuss it. My place is here. I will support the mission as I have over the years. But I choose not to leave Enyalios," responds Mar with sadness.
"I respect all your decisions," I tell them.
We return to the War Room. We brief everyone on the mission. Everyone but Mar requests to join the mission. Melisende accepts the small team Mar had selected for her. We just need to select her Gun Servitor and Skull Servitor.
"Transport will be here in 2 days, Correct, Mar," I announce.
"Yes, Inquisitor. The Bringer of the Emperor's Blessing Cruiser, will be here within 2 days," Mar responded.
"In two days, we meet back here. Your rooms have been assigned and are in your packets. I will see you all at dinner, tonight. Dismissed," I tell everyone.
