Old rules. He said it was the curtain call to the old rules, so the tournament didn’t update yet. Hence 5 man crusader squads.

The Glorious Future of the Eternal Crusade!
LordValandil replied to Sword Brother Adelard's topic in + BLACK TEMPLARS +
Definitely agreed on the Sword Brethren, though I do like the “no suffering from passions” rule they have! -
You know you're a Black Templar when....

…when your roommate thinks you’re having a seizure when you see the Grimaldus reveal video while scrolling through YouTube. -
I’m sooooo glad I saw this!!! My roommate literally thought I was having a seizure!

Maybe the extra initiates are one with special weapons, for example the flamer? Then it would be 10 man squad; 1 SB, 4 each of Initiates and Neophytes, then 1 Special Weapon. 20 man you get 3 Special weapons? Edit; spelling!

Same here. Was having a conversation with a guy who thinks all you gotta do to be Black Templars is play Space Marines with no librarians. And he’s salty about our codex before CSM, which I can understand.
-
Everything looks so cool! I also really like that blade guard; bout to send some heretic into the abyss!
-
Love it! Looking good!
-
I’m with ya brother! Currently stationed overseas, so I can afford to be patient. Biding my time and painting models!
-
Yeah, looking at all the new codices is making me very excited for all my armies to get theirs! (Black Templars, Thousand Sons, and Tau) The few games ive played in 9th have been super fun and for the most part down to the wire! Can’t wait for our supplement and all the other codices!
-
Same. What are you guys looking at? In fact I don't even see that the BT PDF got an update today at all. They’re looking at the munitorum field manual. Has points for all the factions.

Oo, you’re right! So no more Emperors Champion getting buffed by Helbrecht to be S8 and whatnot. Interesting....
-
Man, this stuff looks awesome! I definitely like the green volkite coils the best for ya; certainly brings in a bit more color! Can’t wait to get painting my indomitus box; finished building and gotta get em primed!
-
Oh no, how come? What did I miss? Is it because it’s in the F&F book? I thought they were still usable? Yes, it’s in F&F. It’s because the Emperors Champion is our equivalent to a chapter champion.

changes for us in new edition (list)
LordValandil replied to Medjugorje's topic in + BLACK TEMPLARS +
Another change is order of modifiers. They go in this order; division, multiplication, addition, and subtraction. So that would change it so that Helbrect can’t make terminators with TH S10 or Centurians S12. -
I could see them at least having three wounds like aggressors. Either that or the new Melta guys coming in the box. Wonder how many attacks and how the power swords are gonna be!
-
Here’s the snippet I found after reading again! ***These apply to things like forests and dense industrial ruins, where protection comes more from difficulty in picking out a target, rather than the shots physically being blocked. So looks like it might be forests and ruins maybe?
-
So it seems from the tyranids preview that if you’re within or within 3” of a terrain piece and it blocks the full base of the model then that model is -1 to hit. Terrain is looking good this edition! I’m feeling pretty stoked! *edited* wrong ‘seems’
-
And I’d also say Shock and Awe completely negated the choice of even firing over watch. You need those units to charge a big threat that most definitely will have CP spent on it? Well, that’s no longer an option for them. :-D

Someone on the tau forum that I’m in posted a google docs of the transcript; here it is for ya! https://docs.google.com/document/u/0/d/1pLkIFWf81YIhGD6Cy_zfvX4zm5GbkYTTEHEPapCTONY/mobilebasic#

Black Templars' "realistic strengths"

Black Templars' "realistic strengths"
LordValandil replied to MarshalMittermeier's topic in + BLACK TEMPLARS +
Just wanted to put out that our faction 5+ ignore mortal wounds makes us even more resistant to psychic armies relying on smite. I know it’s a small thing, but those extra wounds can make all the difference! -
How would I propose to balance/update our units/rules?
LordValandil replied to ThirtySixNights's topic in + BLACK TEMPLARS +
Just wanted to know where this information was from. I looked at the stratagem and for any erratas and as far as I can tell it does work. Hidden in a Designers Commentary?
