Looking for Advice (1st time dad)
Beachymike123 replied to Beachymike123's topic in + AMICUS AEDES +
Thank you so much guys, great advice and contributions from all. Luckily I have a mobile tray I use for painting, but I'll be looking out for the wet pallette and brush soap. It's great to see the variety but similarities with the advice too. Baby will definitely be coming first, no questions, but I'll see how it goes from there. It won't even bother me if I have to dust them off first (chuckles to self in heretic). I also love the idea of paper mache craters etc - my partner isn't into the hobby but has painted scenery as she says it helps with her anxiety, so maybe family made battlefields for the win (way down the line though). Thank you again everyone for the contributions. You've helped me immensely, even if it is thinking out how to arrange around my future lil heretic haha. Stay safe, and happy hobbying. -

Hi guys, its been a while. Life has thrown me a curve ball and at 36 I'm becoming a dad for the first time. I've been into 40k since late 2nd edition and I don't see myself giving it up, but with a baby on the way (due mid January ) I know my time will be put to greater use elsewhere. So, if any would be willing to share, how do you balance parenthood with this multi-faceted hobby of ours? I've got a rough idea, but I'm intrigued how others go about it. Many thanks in advance. Death to the False Emperor. Admin/mods: Hope its cool to post here. If not please move or nuke as you see fit. Thanks :)

White Scars Renegades Project: Oblivion Hunters
Beachymike123 replied to Aothaine's topic in + HERETIC ASTARTES +
Great theme for your army. Of the loyalist legions, the sons of the Khan are my favourite. Great to see them on the true side of the Long War. I think the white would stand out more, but could also be used to denote champions? Clan/tribal markings could also look great on a white background. Best of luck with your army. Shooty Daemon Princes - where did they come from?
Beachymike123 replied to Quixus's topic in + HERETIC ASTARTES +
I'm kitbashing a DP using a Dreadknight as the base (what else is it used for?). I've used one of tho shooty weapons as a warp bolter but it does need chaos-ifying. I'd agree the Kai Gun was the original basis from the rules. But it would also be cool from a narrative perspective to have to retrieve a DP's weapon or use it against them. Just some ideas. -
Thats a good point. @Captain Semper: can I make them out of competition vows? If not its no biggy. I'm just excited for this.

I, beachymike123, answer the Call of Chaos and vow to complete 1 Heldrake 5 raptors 6 chaos space marines 5 Havocs 6 Chosen 5 Bikers 5 Warp Talons before December 15th 2017. If I do this successfully I will receive the Mark of Total Hedonism and continue on the path to ruin. If I fail I’ll wear the Mark of the Lost and I expect no mercy on my soul! I should add the Raptors and Chaos Space Marines will actually be painted by some friends of mine, one getting back into it (raptors) and one who has never painted 40k before (chaos space marines). Please show them some support if needed (not that you guys don't, you're the best in the commubity with our crazy warping shenanigans). Feeling stoked for thus guys. I've got my starting pics taken, I'll upload then later. May the Dark Gods guide your brushes and Iron Within, Iron Wuthout!

Search for the dark Relic (Red Corsairs)
Beachymike123 replied to steamius's topic in + HERETIC ASTARTES +
This was awesome to watch as it unfolded. Thank you for sharing this report with us (we all love some.Chaos vs Chaos action). I hope you post up more in the future and may your dice rolls be blessed by the Dark Gods themselves. -
Okay guys and girls. I came across this while scrolling on facebook, and thought you guys would chuckle at this. It's by a site called Newsthump, who post satirical news comedy. Anyways, Thomas the Tank Engine, if you aren't aware, is a series of kids books and at one time kids tv programme (watched it when I was a nipper). This article (link as I'm on my phone) made me chuckle and I hope you all enjoy. http://newsthump.com/2017/09/10/commuters-express-concern-as-thomas-the-tank-engine-falls-to-the-power-of-chaos/

How dangerous is the Fleet of the Dark Mechanicum?
Beachymike123 replied to Moonreaper666's topic in + AMICUS AEDES +
Consider this quote officially yoinked (mine now :P ) But on topic. In the NL trilogy (Soul Hunter iirc) the Dark Mechanicus character (can't remember his name) has a powerful small ship that he uses when they travel from the old ship to the new one, and it goes along the lines that his defences probably saved more lives due to the advanced arrays and sensors. I'd imagine that Dark Mechanicus dedicated ships would be at the centre of a fleet but powerful beings (I imagine their AI systems (as they're allowed them, no silly doctrines to say otherwise) are malicious and very much based on self awareness and preservation, and could inflict a hefty toll if they needed to). -
Axe of Blind Fury vs. The Black Mace
Beachymike123 replied to Vorenus's topic in + HERETIC ASTARTES +
At work at the moment so no codex to hand. But I'm fairly sure the Black Mace gave a +2S bonus byt was only ap 4. It was basically a power maul with an extra rule. I think the axe will stay but only on characters who can get in and out of combat quickly (jmp pack lords etc). Just my opinion though. -
Eaters of worlds VI Echelon - The Blackmaw horrors
Beachymike123 replied to Hathis's topic in + WORLD EATERS +
Hathis: I remember seeing this thread in its early stages, and its always greatbto see other hobbyists as they progress. THIS THREAD HOWEVER woukd make the Lord of War himself happy. Your conversions are fantastic, and your vehicles you've added are a pure joy (I'm an Iron Warrior at heart so love all things armoured). But special mention goes to your Dark Apostle. Everything about this thread is a piece of pure joy, and a reminder why we are the greatest faction. From one heretic to another, I raise a glass to you good sir. May your harvests be great and may Khorne bless your dice. Blood for the Blood God, skulls for the skull throne. (But also Iron within, Iron without ;) ) -
Alpharius Omegon... Does anyone else hate this?
Beachymike123 replied to Kaldoth's topic in + HERETIC ASTARTES +
First, love the Metal Gear reference. Second, I see the following scene unfolding.... *Abaddon, Magnus and a few select Chosen and Abaddon's Mournival storm into the Throne Room, having finally made it to Terra* Abaddon: By the dark gods I shall strike you down... Mournival, Chosen and Magnus: I AM ALPHARIUS Abaddon: *looks around* the f.... The Emperor: Psyche...I'm Alpharius *Abaddon points Drach'nyen at The Emperor* Drach'nyen: *whispers*I'm Omegon! But seriously, I kind of like the dual Primarch part. Shows the fluidity of the XX Legion, as well as a concept of having a bond not many others understand (one I don't think is portayed amazingly well at times, ie the twins concept) but is at least present. -
Sanguine skulls - Khornate Skull Harvesters - general Entropic skulls of (insert Lords's name here) - Nurgle The skull shifters - Tzeentch (bad name and I don't really think of skulls and Tzeentch) The calcium craniums of the deplored - Slaanesh Hope these help and good luck with all aspects of your warband.

Requesting some help in creating a Nurgle Warband
Beachymike123 replied to Sugarlessllama's topic in + DEATH GUARD +
Best thing is to mix it up maybe? Plus if you have the Dark Imperium set the plasma guys can be Chosen with a lil' old Nurgle-ification. You've definitely gone to the faction for customised minis and (modelling) options ;)
