How are his legs connected? They look a little odd, but I haven't seen a close enough look at them to be sure. I'm planning on using them for my Shrike kitbash. He's has a three-piece body, unfortunately. It isn't a normal leg & torso. One piece is one leg plus the front of the torso and another piece for the second leg and back of torso.

Vow complete. I need a few more colors, but good enough for now. I'll probably redo the bases when I get back from Afghanistan. Tactical squad The rest of the tactical squat, with Shadow Captain Solaq and Murder"feet" (I don't have a jumppack for him right now. He'll get it when I get home) Alt angle of Murderwings and Shadow Captain Solaq. For those who haven't tried--painting Solaq assembled was a monumental pain in the ass and he kind of looks like crap in my opinion. I think I'm going to buy another one of these guys later and paint him unassembled instead.

Almost done. They haven't turned out like I had hoped, but I think I learned a valuable lesson about how much of a pain in the ass it is to do this while deployed. Plus, it was a good way to get back into the hobby after a 20-year hiatus.

Hey all! Checking in with a progress update. This is going to be a much less elaborate paint job than I originally planned. I'm only getting a couple hours a week to focus on painting. I can always improve the highlighting when I get home in the fall. My painting setup for the time being.

(To be honest, I'm only interested in chapter tactics and relics in relation to Raven Guard). This is pretty much my thought as well. I'm hoping that the other relics and some of the formation benefits (since formations are gone now) resurface, though. I'm still building Murderwings and Solaq, just in case.

Great discussion! This is great information for me, too--since I'm just trying to get back into 40k as well.

Brothers (and Sisters?), a couple quick questions. I've been reading through all the releases on Warhammer Community, etc., but I haven't been able to keep up with the discussion here on B&C. I don't see anything in the 8th Edition Discussion board that addresses this, although the Black Templars have been speculating a little: 1. Are we expecting chapter Codices to be released at some point, in addition to the Index books that have already been announced/leaked? (Spikey Bits says "no?" BellofLostSouls thinks "yes," in the model of AoS's Battletome) 2. Do we expect chapter tactics to be announced at some point? Maybe tied to the chapter keywords? I looked through the leaked rules, and it looks like there isn't much to distinguish chapters from each other at this point, although the leaks are only portions of each book... Other than including a a high proportion of scouts and jump units in our armies, what is going to make Raven Guard "Raven Guard" in the 8th Edition? Or any other Codex chapter, for that matter. Can anyone direct me to productive discussion of these topics?

Yes, I'm posting before the 15th, but I'm headed back into Afghanistan tomorrow and I can't access B&C on our internet. I won't start working on them until around 1 July, though. Hey folks! Mine are sitting in a box right now under my bed waiting to get painted. I brought a squad and a couple others to Afghanistan to paint, but I haven't had time. On top of that, my internet doesn't get B&C. Luckily I'm stuck in Kuwait for a couple days right now.

I'm going with Abaddon Black, Eshin Grey, Dawnstone for black armor and Ulthuan Grey, Drakenhoff Nightshade, White Scar for white armor. I don't see myself running him with any formation other than his own Shadow Force. I actually like the funkiness of the Solaq figure, but the power sword/plasma pistol combo doesn't do anything for me. I'm planning to build a Murderwings from mostly Vanguard Vet and Forgeworld bits (w Sanguinary Guard jump pack) and a second captain from the SM Commander kit and assorted other bits.

I'm going to try it out sometime. Too bad I can't jump the rest of the BAB out of a Stormraven.
