  1. How about giving Sev a "Headbutt" skill, where he can sacrifice an attack that round in order to drop his opponents weapon skill, initiative, or even their attacks?...
  2. If you can get hold of them, the citadel artificer tints (the blue and purple ones) work well when mixed directly with leadbelcher. I don't have an airbrush so it's my go-to method for them. https://i.imgur.com/vkmlbQB.jpg
  3. Thanks @Chandrian ! Got a couple more models in the pipeline but also need to finish off painting Azuthor and Kamaz. Hopefully will get some hobby time in this weekend.
  4. A few days ago I managed to get him properly finished up and ready for a game. I used the base from Alexis Polux and went with green lights to contrast his blues and purples while keeping it creepy looking. I have plans to convert up the other part of the Polux display base for something more suitable but for now... Here he is in all his moody glory! http://i.imgur.com/eqLkzRs.jpg And with his magnetised jump pack option, striking a slightly different pose thanks to his also-magged head. http://i.imgur.com/kctJ9iL.jpg
  5. The head looked pretty rough after my first pass but thankfully I managed to go back in and tidy it up. It's combination of rakarth flesh, greys, whites and both purple and blue washes. I wanted to give him a ghostly palour and am quite happy with how he turned out. Sorry for the terrible quality pic. This is about as good as I can get from my phone without a lightbox (next on my hobby to-buy list!). http://i.imgur.com/AGDYnWa.jpg
  6. As for the main figure. I've continued to use my metallic NL blue which is made from Leadbelcher and the blue and purple artificer tints. All metals were done with leadbelcher then nuln oil. The teeth where ushabti bone washed with seraphim sepia and then highlighted with screaming skull up to ceramite white. On his hip he's carrying another tooth of some kind as well as a strange glowing blue vial - not sure what yet exactly! As you can see I decided to paint the head separately for ease and also so I could magnetise at a later date. http://i.imgur.com/nI6sp9N.jpg
  7. Another element I forgot to take pics of while assembling that delves a little into Kezia's backstory is his backpack. These backpacks are my new go to for all my Night Lords command squad as they really help mark them out as unique while sticking to the NL aesthetic with the two winged skulls. I've also been adding various trophies to each one with spikes from the old Chaos Terminators. On Kezia's trophy rack we have a Dark Angel, a Sister of Silence and a human skull, as well as a MKIII Night Lord helm hanging on a chain. More will be revealed about all four of these victims in the future but from a purely modeling perspective, I wanted to show that Kezia's loyalties to his Legion are questionable, but that he is also no friend of the Imperium. I still need to pick out a few details on the backpack like highlights on the wings and the Sister's face but it's passable for now. The worn leather effect was achieved using the method in the November 2016 White Dwarf Paintsplatter article on painting the Genestealer leader's coat. Essentially it's Chaos black, painted a very dark black/brown in the recesses, then slowly highlighted up on the raised areas before adding lots of scratches in a blue/grey. http://i.imgur.com/WGtHoCZ.jpg
  8. So for a while now I've been working on a special character to lead the kill team and also my Heresy force. While thinking of the background for my character I was also watching a dark new show set in grim London around the 19th century called Taboo. Trailer Anyway it struck me that the lead character embodied a lot of Night Lord traits. He's ruthless, dark humoured, resents authority, doesn't trust anyone, and most of all, uses the threat or application extreme violence to ensure the loyalty and service of others. For the model, as a Night Lord I wanted him to be a beast in close combat and also be able to equip him with a jump pack to run with Raptors and Curze if necessary. I decided to give him both a Paragon Blade and Lightning Claw, with the former modelled as sort power-chainglaive to fit the Night Lords fluff. To make this I used the haft of a plastic Thunderhammer from BoP and one of the more menacing looking Raptor chainswords. The name of my killteam and larger heresy NL force is going to be "The Shadow Maw", which I'll explain later in a background fluff post. Anyway, I wanted to use lots of symbols of teeth and jaws to represent this on him. The Red Butcher torsos and arms were perfect for this, they just needed a few XIIth legion bits filing off. I wanted to include some actual teeth as tokens or charms that Kezia carries around so used a forgeworld Salamander upgrade torso and filed off the flames underneath to leave flat armour plate complete with tooth-necklace. http://i.imgur.com/gkZhryG.jpg To make the model represent Taboo's lead character, I decided that the top hat and long coat were the two most distinctive elements I could still incorporate into a space marine that would make it stand out and look menacing but a bit crazy. To make the long coat I rolled greenstufff out quite thinly and then tried a few test wraparound-type fits on the torso. In the end I actually made it far too long and had to cut it shorter with a hobby knife after it had cured. It's very similar to a cloak but more firm in structure so less folds, but also with two folds at the front to represent the collar. For my character I chose to make it a hard-worn dark leather rather than a cloth material, for both stylistic and practical reasons for when it came time to paint it! The hat was simple in concept but a bit fiddly to pull off. It's One gs "tube" cut and filed, then glued to an oval gs disc that's slightly turned up on the longer sides. Once assembled, I stuck this on top of the Sternguard Veteran head who has a beard as this was the closest I could find to a bearded legionary who wasn't a raving Space Wolf. http://i.imgur.com/FUh1oas.jpg
  9. Here's a pic of Dracolath the traitor Salamander who likes burning things a little too much now with a better painted head. http://i.imgur.com/9UOZYEi.jpg
  10. Cheers Nemac! The blue is leadbelcher mixed with both the blue and purple from the GW artificer tint set. I'm also experimenting with scale 75 blue ink on the converted Primaris with lightning claw, seems to give it a really strong blue but loses a bit of the metallic-ness from the scheme that I like as it's close to that in the Forgeworld books.
  11. Thanks pal! I wanted to get a couple more Truescale marines under my belt and build the killteam up a bit before going back to him. Will try and post an update on here in a minute if I can get the imgur link to work properly! :)https://i.imgur.com/9UOZYEi.jpg In the meantime, the link above is a pic of the Salamander after I replaced the head and tidied up some of the little details like the ones and flayed skin.
  12. Thanks dude! Got some hobby time this week so hoping to crack on with them and my Truescale Praetor. Your conversions are awesome, love the champions of each Chaos God and also your Night Lord/Vampire conversion! What's your Instagram handle so I can make sure I'm following you on there too?
  13. http://i.imgur.com/XnaDhzH.jpg Azuthor, my Killteam Headsman. Made from Cataphractii legs, Chaos Chosen Torso+Head and an axe from Conversion World with some NL etched brass. Oh and a cape and backpack from KF Studio!
  14. http://i.imgur.com/TI3OfkR.jpg http://i.imgur.com/KFDbf76.jpg http://i.imgur.com/76k5SvI.jpg WIP of Kamaz, built using a Primaris Intercessor and lots of Night Lord bits.
  15. @E_50_panzer Thanks! The AL blue is simply Vallejo Premium Candy Racing Blue over a coat of Leadbelcher. It's a bit sticky in consistency so tricky but not impossible if you're just using a regular brush. The Night Lords blue is leadbelcher mixed in with both the blue and purple from the citadel artificer tints set. I've mixed up a pot of it to save the hassle of trying to get it the same each time.
