  1. And that's all we ever will. GW are notoriously tight lipped at the best of times. Have complained for all the good it will do.
  2. It's advertised as being about both Death Guard and the KE though so that's hardly tacked on drivel.
  3. Great news. Haven't been able to get to WHW due to a health issue and it was bugging me not having this as a hole in the series.
  4. There is never a bad time to read The Winter King. One of my test readers said there was a similar tone to that series (score!) though most definitely not the same kind of events. I'm definitely inclined to agree with that first point. I was also thinking from early on that I could feel the similarities with the Black Legion series in particular (which you may well have flagged up, I downloaded it partly because I dimly recalled you recommending it). Also agree with this. Winter king is a great read and Black Legion has a very similar feel.
  5. Yeah, ship only I think. Gulliman and Lorgar also have a conversation using one prior to Calth.
  6. No compassion shown here. He is very much the Angel of wrath.
  7. Where did you pick up the book from? Just from this forum alone there's a lot of demand so I'm sure a lot of people would be interested in getting some, and not having to pay eBay prices. At whw. There for a weekends gaming. Didn't realise it was so much in demand until I came on here to discuss it!
  8. That's difficult to say, the short story is really short - about 15 pages. And even that is dispersed across a couple of different themes and events, a lot of it from his PoV. It is a more muted Angel than some of the other work, more remorseful. It is in the form of the winged destroyer that he comes into battle, and bears some of the knowledge that we'll see in FW's Malevolance about the Host of Destroyers, that there isn't a dedicated Destroyer force within the Blood Angel legion. Instead individuals are called upon at points to don the mantle of the Destroyer, to put aside their life for a time and to enact the role that is despised. This is reflected on Commander Alepho, who for the time of this one assault has been drafted into the Destroyer Host and don a silver death mask, who is an artist and poet and who Sanguinius knows will not be the same again afterwards, that his artwork will always be tinged with the darkness experienced that day. Somber is probably best to detail how this reads, this is a duty that Sanguiniuns does not like to enact, nor does he like seeing the impact it has on his legionnaires, but he can't bear to see that responsibility fixed upon a small subset of the Legion - so they have to perform that function at some time. There is a short piece in there, a flashback to when Sanguinius and Horus met on the Vengeful Spirit to discuss greater concepts over a board game (the amount of times important characters play old fashioned board games, BL have a bit of a thing with that) - Sanguinius is struggling with the dichotomy of their existence, creating a new Imperium of Man whilst destroying certain facets of it. Horus struggling with the thoughts of what will happen after the Great Crusade is over, "What happens after that? What happens to angels after a new heaven is made?" I hope that helps, it's difficult to articulate at times. Just starting these after picking up the book this weekend, and I loved this story, even as short as it was. "I am become death" indeed. Bring on the Destroyer Host!
  9. So long as releases are relatively consistent timing wise I am more than happy to stay on the train. Think this will be the longest break we have had between books?
  10. Would like to know the source for this too
  11. Aside from Lorgar, none really knew what they were getting into either. Horus, injured on Davin and corrupted while healing Magnus, tricked by tzeentch years ago, then screws up and has to side with traitors to survive. Angron, just hated the emperor Mortarion, saw the emperor as a tyrant to be overthrown Perturabo, long bitter, snapped after Olympia Fulgrim, picked up a deamon weapon for some reason.. Curze, already gone nuts by this point Alpharius, thought he was doing right thing? All simplified of course
  12. I run my Raven Guard as a post istvaan decapitation strike force hunting hq elements of opposing forces. They have an allied squad of custodes keeping an eye on them. All in mk6 aside from veterans, all in earlier mixed marks of armour as 'the survivors of istvaan' My 1k sons are architects of war, sent into war zones when libraries etc are discovered. Breachers in land raiders for troop choices to secure zones and everything else either dropping in via flyer transports or armoured units.
  13. You mean his adoptive father who didn't exactly like him but raised him anyway, and then later rebelled forcing Perturabo to subjugate his own planet? Does his Primarch novel describe this relationship? Also Tallarn Ironclad, what is the story mainly about apart from one of the biggest tank battles in 40K? Does it also develop the Iron Warriors well apart from being jealous glory hogs? The book goes into detail on the relationships of him and his family, including a few in house political problems. It's mainly about sections of the loyalist and traitor forces finding the true reason why the iron warriors are on tallarn. You do find out. Although it's not fully expanded on and it highlights the relationship between perturabo and the forces he has lined himself with. Now I'm interested in both books, but I think I'll start with the Primarch novel first. Regardless, Perturabo and his iron warriors are definitely NOT on my least liked Legions. I still think the damn peacocks of the 3rd take the cake. From most disciplined to the most insane. Perturabo's primarch book is well worth a read. Possibly my favourite so far alongside Leman Russ. I don't think there is any legion I actively dislike. Alpha legion mainly for the way they have been depicted in BL books, but I love their scheme and model range so far.
  14. Yep. Makes sense as well that degradation could occur over such a period of time. That's normally quoted by guys around at the time of the crusade rather than the like of Huron and other renegades. Loyalists have other advantages though, hypno conditioning(know no fear), organisation structures, all working to one goal rather than their CSM counterparts, equipment is looked after and resupplied better.
  15. You can pick up prospero transfers from eBay for relatively cheaply. Fw set is also nice.
