Hi all So I’ve had this guy planned ever since the Vostroyans came out, but I finally decided to do it after a long break from the hobby. He’s still WIP but c&c very welcome. I’ve no idea what rules I would use for him, so welcome any thoughts on that too. Cheers Lorr

Hi all So, finally getting round to consistently painting again (or trying to) after c.15 years out of the hobby. I’ve been lingering again for the past few years and dabbling, which includes foolishly amassing rather large collections of various of the old imperial guard armies. I now have 100+ of each Vostroyans, Steel Legion and Kasrkin. I love all three armies and think they’re all so characterful and brilliant in their own way. Whilst I love some of the new models, nothing quite has the character of these guys, for me. I had a small Vostroyan army back in the day and I held onto the models. I’ve tried to recreate a similar paint job as I did back then, albeit with no idea what my recipes were and with completely different paints. The goal with these is quick and dirty - I know myself, if I don’t get a decent number of these guys done in a short period and to a consistent standard I’ll get frustrated/bored and stop. So just looking for tabletop standard with these guys for now to get my mojo back and then might treat myself to a painting project or too. Would also be nice to have a playable army, in case the world ever gets back to normal and I ever find time/someone to play with! Anyway, that’s the intro. I’ll get some photos uploaded (once I figure how to upload), and also try and figure out the best and easiest way to get some good shots. Thanks for reading! Lorr.

This is a goofy/non-competitive strategy I came up with the other day. Grab for yo'self 6 masters of ordinance (MoO) and a platoon commander and throw them in a Vostroyan detachment somewhere. Now look what you can do! >>MoO has a BS of 3+ >>His weapon is Artillery Barrage; a single-use battle cannon shot (Max of one can be fired per turn, regardless of how many you have in your army). >>Use the Vostroyan strategem, for 1 CP, to increase that BS to 2+ >>Then use the platoon commander to issue "take aim" to reroll any 1's >>Use the command reroll if you roll poorly for number of shots? That's basically a leman russ in your army, which can hit practically anything on the battlefield. You don't need LOS to target things, but this comes at a price of -1 to your BS. This combination does shoot less than a russ, but is arguably more survivable, what with the way ind. characters work in 8th edition. Stick'em in the back of your deployment zone somewhere safe and start lobbing shells. Wrap a few infantry squads around them for protection, then maybe a few more. Make them look innocuous. Harmless. If the game goes the full six turns that's six rounds of battle cannon fire all at BS 2+ with no chance of degrading. Now, I know what you're thinking. Aren't there better options for the Imperial Guard? ...Well...uh..... You're welcome? ~MinoanFresco
