I've been out of the game since 5th. finally put together a ton of blood angels models and starting games next month. this list interests me and i want to know how it would play. i know the BA meta is sanguinary guard and hiding until turn 4 but i don't really want to do that when i have these models. Am i insane for taking corbulo, his chalice giving me assault doc every turn on a blob of 18 assault primaris with mephiston there to give a bubble shield/unlease rage to the most expensive squad. Seems like i can try to get into combat ASAP and follow up the punch with the dreadnought, chap on bike. Vets held in reserve to either wipe out whatever the oponent deepstrikes or gets into my back lane. heavy ints for sitting on rear objective. is my chapalin built well? i need to know if the exorcation of rage gives cumulative +1 to wound like the red thirst gives already. planning to overwhelm with early charges boosted by the characters and fight twice with the thunder hammer assault marines. deredao and sicarian near each other trying to prevent stikes/reserve within 9inch as they sit back and shoot. considering dropping mephiston for another unit of outriders or more assault marines. Looking through the rules of the amazing Caestus Assault Ram (Because who doesn't love flying land raiders) I see that it has both deepstrike and assault. Now Drop pods (both kinds) and Assault Claws all have the line in their deep strike rules stating you can't assault from the vehicle the turn you deepstrike. But the Caestus Doesn't. Not in either of the red books Nevermind I just read the deepstrike rules that says you can't charge from a transport that's deepstriked (deepstruck?) that turn. So why do the drop pods/Claws have that specifically spelled out, but the Ram (and indeed the stormeagle) does not?

This came up in the demon forum, and I thought this would be a more appropriate place to get an answer. Here's are the relevant quotes: Pg 213 says units with FLY can heroically intervene, consolidate and pile in to models with the AIRCRAFT keyword, so I don't see why they can't assualt them. The rules don't actually permit a unit with FLY to do those things to an AIRCRAFT - they simply require that a FLY unit consider the AIRCRAFT as the closest target for the purpose of those rules (in other words, they have to move towards the AIRCRAFT). However, the AIRCRAFT rules don't permit anything to end its move in engagement range of an AIRCRAFT, and there is no exception for units with FLY. So, by RAW FLY units can be forced to move towards an AIRCRAFT, but have no means of actually getting into or engaging in melee with it. Likely we'll get an FAQ about this at some point, because either the rule cited in the quote above shouldn't have made it into the rulebook, of there are some rules that should have gone in but were missed.
