The last two shots are a bit dark bit it gives you a general idea of how he's developing. The general bulk of the model is now in place and I've just got to tidy him up before adding the details like the cables and equipment.

The head is definately way too high so I'll have to drill out the neck to sink it down a little further.

Great models!

Somehow I expected the Knife bearing marine to stick out his tounge with a mad grin...

Have you thought about giving them "psycho" faces? I mean mad grins and grimaces? I always imagined the Night Lords to be slightly (more than the average marine) insane.

Good work, keep it up and i want to see more! :) :P

Awesome stuff as usual, D.H.

I really love the backpack you did for the first marine. Really cool use of bitz. This last guy is awesome with the (leather?) shirt buttoned to the left. Almost reminds me of "Vash" from Trigun. Really cool look. Plus all the other little armor parts you have going. GW should have you as a model designer for them. And I seriously mean that.

Just please take a little more time on the paintjobs, man. Take deep breaths have patience and do a Paintjob worthy of your AMAZING modeling skills. You're rushing, brother  And I mean that in the most respectful way possible.

Awesome, awesome stuff. The only thing I'd recommend is maybe adding a Mk2 helmet in place of the face. Yes, it's an intimidating head, but I think without the Crusader helm there won't be strong enough visual cues that this is Mk2 armor.

On a side note, is there any chance your Screaming Weasels chapter is gonna be recruiting on this board, or are they strictly Warseer?

Actually, I kinda like the way his paintscheme is working out. Very dark and...well not gritty, but realistic.

Cheers guys! ;)

Durus: I'm going for the more sadistic portrayal of these guys rather than the more extreme psycho thing. Sort of american psycho kind of deal, look relatively normal but will think nothing of cutting you up. Real nasty bad guys.

Master Toddius: Thanks mate, I sincerly appreciate the compliment (although I'd much rather do stuff for FW  )

I promise that as soon as I start painting Night Bringer I will slow down and take my time to do it properly. :)

Stuart: I did really want the Mk III helmet on this piece but I need it bare to show the difference between Artibeus and his men. I'm going to play around with the rebreather a little though.

The Screaming Weasels aren't fussy when it comes to recruiting so anyone from the B&C are welcome to join, it's not just a Warseer only thing. :)

Sharp: Sorry mate, my bad.

Night bringer will undoubtably be amazing. That is if you finish this army and not get distracted with another :P

You're making me want to put some older bolters on my next batch of tac marines to mix things up a bit. Its not as if I don't have an entire bit box full of them :whistling:

Are you going to do some raised pad icons for this group? I think it be kinda cool to see some bat wings on the side edge of the lower greeves and maybe on the shoulder pad. Basically do imperial markings but instead of the double headed eagle do some bat-like symbols. ;)

Cheers guys! :)

DARKTROOPER: I did give some serious concideration to the lightning pattern but wasn't overly keen on it as my attempts to paint it were less than satisfactory. I did however include it as a campaign marking on the original dread.

StormDragon: Yeah it's just a regular 2nd ed bolter.

Blindhamster: Cheers mate, I'm just starting to get to grips with dynamic poses. I think I like the static shots but want these guys to look like they're in the thick of the fighting this time around. I intentionally made the captain more static as I feel it makes him more intimidating.

Master Toddius: I'm in two minds about the raised markings. I really like them personally as it allows me to play around with the models a little more but the pre-heresy era which this army is leading from has a more mass produced feel to it.

I think that I need to strike a happy medium with minor raised details here and there, focusing more on raised details for dreadnoughts and stuff. Night Bringer's armour will probably be more ornate than the regular guys.

I will definately be focusing soley on this army though. :)

StratoKhan:

Ya I realised that after he added the finishing chest pieces. I thought he might go for uniform placed over the PA. Which now that i think about it would be pretty cool. Do a uniform top that fits inbetween the shoulder armor and goes down to the belt. With brass buttons and medals. Instead of robes, capes, or tabards do a IG-ish type uniform top with a high collar.

HHhhmmmm... :Troops: (Master T ponders game of life...)

That actually done right could be a whole new look.

I see what you mean mate, a sort of dress uniform/power armour style.

Update time...

I've retouched the original dreadnought I made for the army as a stop gap untill I can get the truescale one made.

It's the FW pre-heresy dreadnought torso with an extended and legs. I also added larger greaves to bulk the model out, lengthened the assault cannon and used the FW drill arm as the basis of the arm itself.

I've added rubble to the base and a fallen bust of an Imperial hero of old to portray that these guys are set in the heresy, striding through the rubble of the empire they helped forge and swore to protect.

It's only table top standard, I just wanted it out of the way to bulk out the army so I can concentrate on the Astartes.
