The Chaos Lord's Handbook

As we're slowly chugging our way towards the third month, of the new year (2008), it's time to pick up the pace and work on the Primer once more.

Here are some the things that I'd like to see within this unholy tome.

(if you have additional ideas for more material, post them!)

BACKGROUND INFO:

Defeating army X/Y - advice on how to beat e.g. Eldar, Dark Eldar, Orks, Necrons etc. What works, what doesn't.

Suggestions for playing the Legions using the latest Codex - adapting your army list to reflect the (new?) fluff.

WD Chaos index (http://www.bolterandchainsword.com/index.php?autocom=ineo&showarticle=69) - an overview of all White Dwarf articles containing material related to Chaos in wh40k.

i would be honoured to add some of my nurgle/death guard painting/modeling knowledge

Aurus(SP?) i think he ends his posts with the name laurance(again SP?) seemsto very clued up on his death guard/nurgle tactics, he may be interested

I'd like to help with a tactica, but I'm afraid I just haven't gotten enough games in with the new list yet. Probably the earliest I'd feel comfortable with that is the end of October / start of November. Until then I can offer a brief analysis of the troop types available based on my general experience with the game, but it won't be backed up by in-game experience or fleshed out with proper strategic advice.

The tactica, once it came, would be from the perspective of a Black Legion player, so would also fit with the 'how to run an old legion under the new codex' bit, although for Black Legion that's not terribly necessary. The new codex fits them better then it does chaos renegades.

Other then that, I could work on a painting guide for Black Legion, as I'm trying to work out a less time-intensive process for Abby's boys then the one I have been using (I realized the other day that I have about 1,000 points painted, and about 6,000 unpainted).

I can also help with the 'welcome to chaos' bits.

All those ideas sound good. I wpuld be glad to help with the past and present color sceme of the BL and with the painting and modeling guide guide for the BL. I have painted @3500 pts worth of BL and do get complaments on them ( my later stuff that is :D ). It does take alittle experience to make a black fig interesting.

The only problem is that I don't have the tech knowledge to send pic's into the forum (you know to show the steps in progress and the finished product). I hopefully could get help with that part.

You wanna know something chillin? I'm pretty sure there's a very good guide in both the Librarium and the PCA area.

Gimme a min and I'll look it up for ya.

Also, on a side note, I could always try to wip up a Word Bearer with stage by stage pics for usage Nihm. <_<

EDIT: Dang, can't find the post with the How-to-post-a-pic tutorial. :D

Found these links though,

Maybe they can help somewhat at least.

While we're on the matter of the Librarium, here's two new articles by none other than Brother Nihm, on (who could have guessed.. :teehee:) Night Lords.

1. Painting Lightning

2. De-bunnifying Bexerker heads for regular troops

Enjoy!

I'm flattered that someone remembered my tactica! ;) *nods to TT*

I'll see what I can do regarding making a new Nurglesque tactica, and I may be motivated (read: insane) enough to do a full tactica on the codex, with 6 parts (each mark/icon, and one for combining forces of the gods).

I'm just waiting on my (first, juicy) pay cheque to grab my copy of the army box and get my grubby little fingers on the codex!

Until then, I'll cheer from the sidelines! *dons beer-helmet and waves a penant with an eight-pointed star* rah!

Cheers,

Lawrence.

I agree that the more famous renegades like the Red Corsairs would be cool to include, and would be happy and willing(no whips and lashes for me) to work up a tutorial regarding the painting and modeling side of the corsairs. It would have to be done the week after next though as I am going away on a camp these holidays. But if your ok with that nihm I will get on it straight away when I am back as I have a few marines in the works.

It will be good to have all of the chaos guides and stuff right at your fingertips here on the BnC without having to search through endless pages of threads!!!!

I have a question with regards to the layout.

Do you want:

1. a separate section for each aspect, i.e. why collect chaos, painting chaos (with all the tutorial links underneath), background information etc.

2. A section for each legion (with a N/A where applicable for for many of the new renegade factions as little info exist for these outside their paint scheme)

And then tutorials etc. underneath each legion, recycling some. For example: painting black legion might have a tutorial on how to paint gold. Painting Nightlords might contain a link to the same tutorial.

3. Other ideas? (hopefully better ones as I'm a noob at layout work )

I would combine the two. Have an overall section on Chaos in general, and then more specific sections for the parts that are specific.

So, to take your list of things in the OP and put them into an outline...

General Chaos information

-A 'welcome to the new Chaos' thread, detailing the most recent changes so that new and returning players can get up to date with ease.

-A post containing all official colour schemes, both post and pre-heresy (this one is currently stickied in the Undivided forum and is a work in progress)

-Tactica Chaos, the old and (now outdated) Tactica: Undivided is currently collecting dust in the Librarium, and is ready for a renewal -> link.

-A Battle report repository.

Legion Information

-A Painting guide for each legion. This one will probably be the most time consuming to pull off.

-Legion specific modelling and painting advice, to be tied in with the above.

-A simple link to a tutorial on how to create your own DYI chapter.

-Information, alternatives and suggestions on how to field the old Legions under the new rules.

How's this for starters?
