Hey all!

 

I touched up almost all of my original Angels Cruentus paint jobs in the last year. Making crisper weapons, fixing some of the sloppier gold, etc, etc...

 

Still to do are:

1) Paint the rest of the army

2) Add iconography to the dread's two chest areas

3) Drill barrels in all bolters, flamers, pistols, etc...

4) Touch up Rhino's track wheels

 

Quick background info first!

The Angels Cruentus, without going too in depth, are a lost company of the Blood Angels. They lend their aid to any conflicts the Blood Angels and their successor chapters may fight during. They then fill their ranks with any abandoned, isolated, or rouge Blood Angels they come across in their travels. They supplement their equipment by salvaging what they can from battle. Each brother is in charge of painting and maintaining his own armor. This is reflected in unique tally marks, colors of honor, and applied visuals to each brother's armor. They're led by the charismatic Chaplain Augustus and serve only to further the Imperium, and protect it.

Sanguinary Priest Terris - The Savior:

A sanguinary priest hailing from the Blood Angels chapter itself, Terris is a skilled apothecary. As one of the three that the Angels Cruentus have in their ranks his work is immense. While the other two apothecaries work to heal and treat the wounded aboard the lost company's fleet, Terris is in the thick of battle. His job it to provide combat stims and healing to battle brothers in the midst of combat, and to harvest any gene-seed from fallen brothers lest it fall in to enemy hands. Terris is accountable for countless lives saved, immense injuries survived due to his healing hand, he is part of the essential needs that keeps the Angels Cruentus still fighting.

The Fallen From Faith (Death Company):

Every Blood Angel knows of the Black Rage, even those of the lost company, The Angels Cruentus. To fall into its grip is to think you are the Primarch himself. The Fallen from Faith are the marines who succumb to the primal rage of the gene-seed's fault. They become madmen whose muscles and every thought is filled with bloodlust. Their ferocity and close combat prowess are without equal. They are the truly lost, they are the madness that corrupts all Blood Angels, they are The Fallen from Faith. Augustus is disheartened every time he hears of another brother falling to the Black Rage, but he has use for them. He will supply them with the glorious death they seek as he leads them into battle. They will perish in the flames of war, for the good of the Imperium, just like the Blood-Father himself.

Assault Squad Lupinus - The Fangs of Augustus:

They're known company-wide to be the second fiercest of all the lost brothers, second only to the infamous Fallen from Faith. They are Augustus fangs, his teeth biting into the exposed neck of the enemy. Every Blood Angel loves the thrill of close combat, the lost company is no different. A swirling melee is right where they belong, and slamming into the fray from the sky with jump packs flaring is the Angels Cruentus way.

Tactical Squad Macragus - The Youngest:

The most recent addition to The Angels Cruentus' ranks, and therefore the youngest in terms of the Company's history. Most famous for earning their squad designation by fighting the Tyranids on the outskirts of Hive Fleet Behemoth's westmost influence in the Ultima Segmentum during The Battle of Macragge.

 

(This silly lore is because they're the marines from the Battle for Macragge box I picked up on Ebay for ten bucks about 5 years back. ALSO!!! If you look closely, you can spot the 3rd edition marine in the back right with the paint-job I used to do when I was 8. It's like where's Waldo, except he's a genetically augmented killing machine. I just can't bring myself to repaint him. I've told myself to many times, but I just can't do it.)

Tactical Squad Tirion - Augustus' Finest:

Augustus' most valued and skilled tactical marines. They've served in hundreds of battles throughout the Company's long history and have never failed their mission in any battle. This has earned them the title of "Augustus' Finest"; a title they flaunt in their brothers' faces. When one of these revered marines is killed battle-brothers from other squads will fight tooth and nail to prove their worthiness to fill the slot.

Furioso Dreadnought Sebastien - The Champion:

Sebastien was Chaplain Augustus' brother in their former lives, before the trials, before the change, before the thirst. Sebastien alone was at Augustus' side when the rest of their successor chapter was lost, the brothers escaping the cataclysm that claimed the entire host of the original Angels Cruentus. Through time and scavenging they rebuilt their chapter to a strength of just one company. When the first company, forever renamed the lost company, was sent on its first full mission back into the galaxy Sebastien led their ragtag band of battle brothers. There he lost all but a shred of his life, on the fields of that Eldar craftworld. All was not lost, after the battle the lost company had added a techmarine and Dreadnought husk from the Angels Vermillion to their ranks. Two years later Sebastien was reborn, interned in the metal sarcophagus of a Dreadnought. Together he and Augustus will see their chapter's torch kept aflame. Sebastien is the Angels Cruentus' greatest warrior, their strongest brother, their champion.

Baal Predator Domitor - The Firestorm:

Of the small amount of lasting vehicles the Machine-God has blessed the Angels Cruentus with, the Domitor is one of the oldest. Serving in countless battles, this tank has fought in every engagement where vehicles could be deployed in the Company's history. Heretics, Xenos, and mutants; all have fallen in droves to the combined hail of munitions and the cleansing promethium of the sponson-mounted flamers. Domitor's history is rife with victory and slaughter and any tech-inclined marines that are adopted into the lost company are eager to crew Domitor when they learn of its long and accomplished history.

Land Raider Crusader Castrum - The Bulwark:

Castrum is the mechanical pride of the Angels Cruentus. A holy Land Raider salvaged from the battlefields of the Third War for Armageddon, one of the Blood Angels greatest battles. On the ruined fields of Armageddon she had been immobilized and served as then her crew of and supporting Flesh Tearers were all killed by the greenskins invading the planet. The Flesh Tearers assault was unknown and undocumented, the battle brothers' bodies and the Land Raider left behind. After proper rites and preparation of the fallen marines' bodies, Castrum was pulled from the soil, still unscathed minus its track. Brought back with the lost company's forces it has continued to fight on for centuries, never once has its hull been breached, and never since the battle on Armageddon where it was found has it faltered under the fire of the enemy again.

Rhino Transport Cataphractos:

Rhino tanks are a very common sight among the Emperor's Space Marine Legions. They are hardy, ubiquitous, and easy to repair in the field. Cataphractos is one such Rhino, but its makeup is that of hundreds of Rhinos. The amount of times Cataphractos has been lost to fire is uncountable, but it always gets its charge to their destination safely, and it always returns to the lost company's armorers to be repaired anew.

And that's it for now. Chaplain Augustus himself is in the works; a Lemartes model that I'll kitbash some gubbins on. Librarians, Devastator Squad, Vindicator, and Drop Pod to paint, then I'm all done. (I know that's a lot... -.-)

I just found this glaive on reddit and I thought I'd post it.  I love the cross between gritty battle-worn, and sci-fi.  The painter is considering switching the silver and the green.  I think I'm going to use this styling going forward.
