Ithmaril's pre-heresy World Eater Legion

Good Evening B&C,

after a while of lurking, I thought it wouldn’t hurt to start logging the progress of my pre-heresy World Eaters within your great halls. At the moment, I’m aiming at finishing a playable, fluffy force of 1500 pts. The whole thing started as “convertinmg for converting’s sake?-fun, but I soon realized that I really dig the character of the legion and had tons of fun painting and converting my Marines (as much pain als the white may sometimes be), so now I’ve got big plans…

So, enough of the talking, here’s my progress until now.

Veteran Sergeant Brutus, first tactical assault Squad, and another model

- Example for a completely nutty apocalypse-esque configuration with as many mean weapons attached to him as possible:

Well I think you caught the essence of the world eaters with that sargeant. Ties nicely into the fluff GW put out in the Index Astartes about theie "excesses".

Nice conversion work.

Thanks for your encouragement and constructive criticism, it's all greatly appreciated and will absolutely be taken into account in the future. ;)

They're finished now... (Pic kinda blurry, the faces are more detailed.)

Workspace pics! I use both for painting and converting, but I prefer to sit at the living room table because I like to watch TV and hang out with my girl while working on my army. Well, whenever it's not exactly covered by the remnants of a party, like it is at the moment.

The next batch is also underway, part 2 of Tac Assault Squad Secutor. Sorry for the fact that I don't have the muse to do proper pics at the moment, but they're rough and unprimed anyway. Well, it seems that I finally got a real motivation to paint on, having finished two squads (or one and a half), because of the contest at PH forums, and having discovered several great hobby stores (just days ago I realized that my local GW store is just 20 minutes away) to game there.

And, yeah, there's a heavily converted RT marine among them. I know that he isn't exactly PH, and some people won't like him, but he lingered around my bits box for ages, and I was yearning to give him a worthly existence sind I got this single half miniature ages ago (something around 8 years). So here he is, and I love this guy. Expect some heavy justification fluff. (Parts: RT Marine, CSM backpack, bionic plastik necron leg from space crusade, normal marine leg, dark eldar head, small chainsword from a chronopia mini, gladiator-style-shoulderpad-arm from void junkers.)

Thanks, Khan. These are no terminator legs, actually- they're from a space crusade mini. (gotta hate this colored plastic, difficult as hell to cut.)

@Zeller: That's what I was aiming for. They're World Eaters- savage, brutal, merciless, taking trophies wherever they can.

By the way... Couldn't... resist...

@LunchBox: Although I find it a little bit offensive to call other people's setting-specific work nonsense (I'm just trying to live out a passion for a certain period of 40k history I like very much, making no big deal out of it), thanks a lot for the very encouraging comment. Especially from someone with such GD-worthly skills... really motivating. Your models are awsome.

@Solamus: I agree, glad you like 'em.

CHAINSWORD ON POLE TIME!

*DoooDooodoodoo...*

++EDIT++

Sorry, forgot to coment on the minis.

They're really nice, but if it's Pre-Heresy, and you're strict, then why is there a Mk.6-8 ( I Donno.) Shoulder pad on your Sergeant? Muhahaha.

Very cool though.<_<

Thank you. Pandora, if you look up Mark 2 (crusade) and Mark 3 (Iron) Armor, you'll notice shoulderpads with rims, some of them with studs. :P I agree that nice, smooth shoulderpads add a lot of PH character, but sometimes I just throw some in, because... it's simply a rim. Could be an ornament as well. No big deal.

WIP shot of terminator sarge with the assault marines I'm painting right now.

Some people will call his collar plate /the one with the teeth) too orky... but I like it a loot, and the teeth motive is a very prominent part of the World Eaters symbol, so it's there to stay. B)

So, I've had a little battle this tuesday. 500 pts, nothing spectacular, loads of fun, though. My IG opponent managed to reduce my squad inside the objective to 2 men and a character, and charged in with a sentinel, winning the game, but I don't mind- having held off a sentinel (crippled) and a plasma-loaded ten-man-veteran squad (obligerated) for the whole game, the scouts are the heroes of the game, with the dreadnought keeping up well (shredding 2 storm trooper squads to pieces), with my 5-man-tacsquads (bolt pistol & chainsword) and my terminator captain being basically useless because by the time they stormed the objective, there was nothing to fight in close combat anymore. After that, it was two turns of crossfire from three sentinels and a bunch of heavy weapons and plasma guns from the building.

Great fun, great reactions to my conversions in the store, and it felt good to see the boys marching on the battlefield, although they're still unfinished.

Speaking of unfinished- four terminators done, one to go. ^_^

Due to some requests, here's a Link to the Rackham Store page where they sell the Cryx Bane Thrall Shoulderpads I'm using for my Terminators, thanks to Pre-Heresy Forum's Vredesbyrd.

In the meantime, here are some better Terminator Sgt. Pics... pictures of the whole squad will be up in approximatly 10 hours. They're not quite done yet.
