Ithmaril's pre-heresy World Eater Legion

Ithmaril

I've just finished the basic white on my 5 tacs. Need some more touching up, some surfaces are too rough and some black lines need fixing. But the majority of the job on them is now done, the blue is really quick and easy compared to that. I've actually done a step-by-step photo manip for further reference, as they're the first PA marines I've painted this way.

Although I'm quite fond of the white, I'll keep it in mind- thanks for the input.

They're done, besides legion symbols. Those will have to wait until I can afford some decent decal paper.

Really great conversions. I love seeing armies that people really put a ton of time into the details. Can't wait to see more.

P.S. the banner on the dread looks like its from the skeleton regiment, no the ogre kingdom. Not a big deal since it looks bitchin!

Edit: Good tutorial bye the way.

Thanks for that hint. It was just one of that bits I salvaged out of a mate's bits box. Good to know, and glad you like the goods. :)

Here's a little teaser on the big guy. He should be finally done by tomorrow!

Thanks, guys!

Yeah, dread's an ordeal, painting-wise. I have't painted any models of his size in years, and completely forgot how much time it eats away, so I announced that I'd have him done by thursday under the wrong impression. I can just try to make sure it's worth it.

Anyway, here's a PIP pic to compensate for that. Basic colours partially done, but I guess he should be finally finished over the weekend.

So, that's it. After many a sleepless night and work hours I don't want to count, he's as done as he'll ever be, and I hope you enjoy the result as much as I do.

If you are interested in a more detailed view of my personal opinion towards the paintjob, a making-of, and loads of my random thoughts on this project crammed into one article, then my new painting blog might be worth visiting. I'll keep adding articles of the different squads of this army there, which will provide more in-depth looks and takes on my way of approaching the hobby- stuff that would be too much gibberish for WIP threads in forums like this. ;) Also, other kinds of hobby articles, projects and other kinds of content will be added over time.

Cheers,

Ith

Thanks a lot, people. That's great encouragement coming from very talented guys like you. Although I'd argue that "horrid" comment, yes, the source model is not everybody's pair of shoes.

So, yeah, I'm kinda on a productivity spree atm. Gotta make good use of it as long as it lasts. But this one has a serious question in it, as this is my first tank: Have a look and please tell me what you think of the blue/white distribution. Not 100% sure about it, yet.

  • 2 weeks later...

Finally finsihed the Rhino

I'm happy with most of it, and I'm not with a few things. But for my first Marine tank I'm okay with it, considering the trouble the white gave me, and a few other new things I tried out on this.

So, thats 1 more Rhino, 10 Marines, and 1 Captain to go.

Thanks, Rindaris- don't worry, your version has his own greatness, mainly kick-ass weapon conversions and an unusual painting scheme, adding to the base model's awesomeness!

So, after reaching kind of a milestone and convincing myself that I've earned it, I decided to take the painted elements of the army and do some shots on a real tabletop. While I still have a lot to learn about making decent pics, it's still a rewarding series of pictures I'd like to share with you. So, I hope you enjoy.

Recieving the honour of being tasked to scout ahead, the second Neophyte unit advances quickly through rough terrain, eager to find out the enemy's next position, and to spill first blood before the main force marches in.
