Storm Ghosts

Hello everyone. Ok I’m new around here…so please be gentle with me.

The picture below is of one of my veteran sergeants of my own space marine chapter, the storm ghosts. At the moment I’m still writing a codex for them and making some special characters too and all that jazz that goes into a codex and building your own chapter.

So have a look at my picture and any C&C is welcome. i am also looking for a chapter icon.

And if anyone has any ideas please let me know.

Thanks.

Edit: im thinking that my chapter will not be loyal but in the same turn will not be renegade....and mostly designed to fight necrons or tyranids.

edit: i would do a couple of colour designs so you can see what my marines would look like, but the space marine painter on this site seems to not be working.

It looks like you have many CC oriented troops(which is GOOD when fighting necrons.)

Just remember that fighting tyranids is most successful at a distance.

Within 24'' if u know what I mean. Just shoot and laugh.... shoot and laugh....

Now when you say a Chapter, do you mean a full-scale 1000+ soldiers chapter?

Because if you are, be prepared for years of dedication and time put in to building these guys up. ^^

And I just don't mean the models either. Since you're throwing in your own characters, you'll need some sort of background story for them as to allow them to fit into the grand scheme of things among all the Space Marine chapters.

And as for Chapter symbol, it should somehow relate to who and what they are.

The Ultramarines for instance, uses the symbol Omega, because they are the end all of all things in terms of the battlefield, considering how well known their power is.

Crimson and Imperial Fists are another, in which their symbol is that of a fist.

But yeah either way, hope to see more updates in the near future concerning both the story, and the models of your army.

Speaking of which, I should really start posting pictures of my Chapter...which presently stands at 1.5 Companies strong XD

If you want to be geared towards fighting 'nids, then you're never going to be geared towards fighting necrons, and vice-versa. With necrons, you need lots of high strength, low AP weapons, to negate their WBB rolls. But if you want tyranids, strength and AP arent really that much of an issue, so you should gear up on heavy bolters, assault cannons, autocannons and regular bolters. With tyranids, quantity of shots rather than quality is the key. With necrons, the opposite is the key. So choose between, or else you're gonna have to make a big army with both, so you can mix and match weapons.

Good models.

Your command squad is good, although 2 things:

1. are the legs glued on or are you going to paint them seperately?

2. NEVER put Plasma Cannons in Command Squads! HERETIC! (I overeact a bit)

FOE

the legs are glued on...im using a codex gray for the legs and a tin bitz paint for the upper half...why do you ask.

ok...so not a plasma cannon....in guessing instead either a heavy bolter or missile launcher.

i should say that most the maines gone through a repaint on some key areas to make them look more like the pics i posted above.

for the chapter symbol i was thinking of 2 lighting flashes going diganal and a skull in the middle of them.

what you think.

Well, i thought it would be harder to paint some how (I lost my sanity that day in a game)

You took me seriously?! :) Well, with CC orientated troops, you want to get into combat, and heavy weapons can't move/assault and fire, so not Heavy Bolter or Missile Launcher. Although useful, they should be left for Devastator squads or Taccy squads. I would use a Meltagun.

Here is abit of history for my storm ghosts....(not complete)....but C&C is always welcome.

The Shadow Ghosts

“leave no one behind”

With the failure of the chapters defence against the tyranids, the remaining of the chapter fled to regroup and retrain themselves to head back into the fight. Whilst retreating out of the system the fleet took heavy damage from the remaining hive fleets and a further more, full company was lost. With most of the chapter lost, an election was taken and commander Karundel of the 4 th company was elected the new chapter master. His first order of business was to rearrange the remaining marines back into the four main battle companies, spreading the remaining of the scouts between these four companies. Karundel promoted his command staff of the 4 th company to be his veteran body guards, offering them whatever equipment they wanted from the remained of the armoury. Once this had been accomplished, karundel was informed of distressed calls from the fleet damaged and left behind. As he did not want to loose anymore of the chapter in a salvage operation, he gathered the marines remaining and offered them the choose to go after the men left behind or stay and regroup. In a surprise all the men wanted to go. With not wanting to loose all of the marines, the best worries were selcted from the remaining reformed companies and loaded them into the last surviving battle barge the (name here) and headed back to the (name here) system.

What the found when they arrived was breathtaking. All four worlds of the (name here) system had been devoured. Karundel arranged the marines into search parties, and they began searching ships for marines and anything that could be salvaged. With the marines working for three days straight, everything that could be salvaged was and transported back to (ship name here), this includes three dreadnaughts and a ten man terminator squad made up of members of the first company. With that a host of weapons and vehicles was transported to the (name here) and stored away for transport.

Once the fleet had returned with the rescued men and equipment. Karundel made the decision to elevate the men that accompanied him on the rescue mission to the status of the first company. All full battle brothers were

also given the right to decorate they armour as they see fit. When looking over the data of the defeat from the tyranids in the (name here) system, it was discovered that the chapter was lacking the knowledge they needed to fight such an enemy of this type. As such, the data from the Ultramines into there creation of tryanid hunter squads was taken and adapted to serve the storm ghosts in there preparations. The whole of the first company, karundel and his bodyguards went into training for a decade to learn all they could about fighting against the tyranids. After whish they spend a further five years training and building weapons to aid them in there fight. During this time the marines of the first company taught all they had learned to the rest of the chapter, taking them all to the high levels of which karundel expected from his men.
