Late to the party, but, dear lord, this is phenomenal work, all of it. Absolutely outstanding.

I may have missed it, but could you explain how you made this awesome flamer'd IG base?

for chaplain and others here is a close up of the poor guardsman base ,note the pegs are for poistioning of the dread which his feet fully cover

and thanx for the input and well pointed out on the dark scheme asmodeus, and skizzo its input like this that keeps the ideas flowing cheers D

Outstanding thread!! Everything is so well executed with lots of cool ideas, well done sir. Got to say though, I would have a serious headache if I attempted anything like some of your schemes (that is a complement btw!)

thanx guys

Ovidius Incertus@ the base was made from a skeleton from the old skelly regiment cut to lie down a bit,the head was taken from the chaos icon, and a shoulderpad from a guardsman.i then added a few strands of greenstuff to imitate flames.

colouring was drybrush chaos black, light drybrush codex grey, very light drybrush skull white.flames were painted scab red ,blood red ,blazing orange and sunburst yellow.

Midnight Runner@ strangely it does give me a headache after a while ,must be eyestrain ;)

reminds self "must take regular breaks " :D

Mr.Malevolent@ glad you like the colour, to be honest i wasnt sure it would work for a chaos army but it sort of does  imho

and sorpiondefiler B)

the faceplate is not what i was setting out to do,i was painting two khorne type symbols on and then checked to see what it looked like on the model only to find i had painted it UPSIDE DOWN :D so turning it around i had to fill in a large space that looked awkward or spend more hours repainting. so turning it into a hideous maw seemed as good an idea as any .

i think personally the mistake turned out for the better

Holy... ;)

Wow - just as well I'm selling my FW Scorpion, I'd never give it a paint job that could live up to that! ;) :)

Amazing work Daemonclaw B) B)

thank you guys for the kind words

PeaceCraft@ i will be eagerly looking out for your army and wish you sucess

firestorm40k@ thats a shame that you are selling the scorpion i would have liked to see your take on it

and Xin Ceithan "I´ll now go and put my eyes out with a sharpened brush end^^" that sounds like something a heretic would say

the vow is now almost done and finished pics to follow once again thank you for your comments

thank you Midnight Runner

and here is the finished product ,note the legs havent been attatched properly as they are a complete :cuss :cuss ^_^

i am thinking of fixing them with brass rod but if anybody has a better or different idea i would be pleased to hear it

Vesper @thanx i think :D i kept the plates and legs separate for ease of painting but unlike i did i would advise masking off the joint areas or you will spend ages cleaning them back up afterwards.i found that i had to fix a plasticard disc in the joint knee sockets to get a tighter fit .and i am having a nightmare fixing the legs to the balljoints ,this bad boy is one heavy model and the fist glue attempt had the legs fall off under the weight.but apart from that it has been a joy to do

on with the pix not the best but i will try to get better ones

thanx for watching and join us again soon for products of the maelstrom

holy brass balls of khorne! thats an awesome model

nice to see a painted scorpion as there doesnt seem to be many knocking about

must have asked a few times but whats the red recipie for the main body

cracking work and bet your quite sad now that its done hahaha

mortis so true about not many pix about ,it made it very hard for referencing which is why i borrowed the design from warhammer fantasy khorne lord on jugger.

the paint for the main body is a mix of scab red and chaos black(must learn the new names :D )

here is a new guy to push the nurgle side of the force along when vauhl is basking in the afterglow of a burning world or two.
