wow thanx guys it looks like this fella didnt fall short.i just decided to do something different ,and am very pleased with the reaction as he is so far removed from a usual helbrute.

forte@ thanx man for your continued comments

chaplain_blackord@thanx that made me chuckle

krautscientist@ thanx thats what i was going for but didnt want it to overshadow the rest of the beastie

paladin7221@ thanx

chaplain mortis @cheers dude,i think i needed this etl to push me to paint him or he would have stayed greenstuff like so many other ideas lol,and i have had the FW daemonette for a couple of years now so maybe she deserves to be in the next vow

squeaky@thanx glad you like the pads and faceplate ,i decided that since the whole idea of the helbrute was different ,i would try a new paint scheme,it was a gamble on a one off model but i think it works

deathspectersgt7@thanx brother

disease@thank you

No problem about the comments at all. Your thread is inspirational.

And that is looking amazing. Great base too. No comment on the free hand as I'm too busy sulking on how good it looks.

Edit

Right. I'm officially confused now too. I saw your in progress Kakophoni in the ETL and you said "more pics in my wip". Can I find them...no! And they look great too (as always Mr Consistent).

cheers forte .yeah sorry about the pics.i was going to put them up

but was called away .i will post them this evening when i get back from work

That one pic you posted looked really good. Especially the way you've done the material round the waists. I automatically went for flesh but now wish I went the route you seem to be going.

Can see you have a few areas where the resin is showing through. Apparently a bit of varnish can help with that.

Really liking the colour choices. Especially with all the little details on those things.

and now a question to the resin fans

i found that even with a thorough wash and basecoats i found that as i was painting these guys i kept rubbing paint off just by touching them .

is this something that happens ? or do i have to use gloves to stop the oils in my fingers reacting to the paint.

with the big models i did i used plasti-kote and didnt have a problem but am reluctant to use it on the smaller models as i dont want to obscure any small details.

any help would be greatly appreciated

cheers DC

I had a similar issue with areas on mine where the primer hadn't reached. I'd washed them in warm soapy water with a toothbrush to scrub everywhere. It was only a second spray aimed at the areas and a bit of brushed on varnish that did it.

I had read after that car primer (Halfords seen as you're in the UK) is pretty good and apparently what Forge World use most of the time.

As for handling. I put pins in my models now and attach them to corks so I rarely touch the model at all but still have a good hold on something.

The bases work really well to set them off. Lovely marble finish too. But what are they made from?

thank you brother forte, your insight has been most helpfull.

it looks like i need to stop putting my grubby fingers on my models nowwhistlingW.gif sweat.gif

and have just picked up some varnish and plasti_kote primer so heres hopingsad.png

i will also take note of the second primer spray ,crazy i never thought of thatrolleyes.gif

as for the bases it is just plasticard painted in irregular lines to imitate marble and then cut into squres and reassembled on the base in a more irregular pattern (and easier than bathroom tilingbiggrin.png )

once again cheers for your help and comments

As I gazed upon the face of Chaos, there was a sound as of wailing and gnashing of teeth... from my wife, who officially wants to steal your hands when she starts her Thousand Sons. This whole thing is incredible. Any plans for a Heldrake?
