Ra1stl1n
Its space wolves, luna ones would have to be quite more white :) But you're right,no legion besides the emperor's children were wearing the imperial aquila...i'll see what i'll do with that... Cedric
Speaking of DA, switching from Mithril to a darker metallic basepaint might do the trick. Or go with 2 coats of Badab Black, followed by 2-3 coats of Thraka Geen. OwenCrute
I know Owen, the question regarding the DA marine model was for metcalfedan.... Whoops... I thought he only did some sallies in the greenies department, must have forgotten any DA mentions. *facepalm* Sorry. Puddle
Metcal - I like your work, though in all honesty, i think your bases really drag your models down. You have a nice paint job on most of them, where as the bases really detract from the impact of the striking army scheme. The colours not only clash, but the bases are poorly done (in comparison to the rest of the model/s). Sorry if this came out rude, it is meant to be constructive criticism (which isnt always nice), but take it as best as you can. An easy way to improve the bases would be to keep the 'darker' tones running through the base - something like dark grey stone, metals, etc - not bright brown gravel (where brown doesnt appear anywhere else). Try a test mini, and i think you will be surprised. You've stumbled upon the last thing to be done - If you have seen the ultramarine that I did for a friend, you will have seen the dust weathering on the legs of the model; I hope to do this to every model at some stage. Thanks for the constructive criticism, and thank you to everyone! :D Next update will be quite a way off sadly :(, because I now have 60 Harakoni Hell-divers to build and base-coat in white :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/151098-viva-metallica/page/11/#findComment-1915501 Share on other sites

He did. Just use red instead of blue, i dont mean for this to come off rude. Though as i am tired, my posts tend to sway that way  . Also, how much of [insert wash colour here] does it take to cover a marine? Because im going to get some thraka green and badab black for my salamanders (hopefully, with a simple scheme that looks great, i will actually paint,) I was just wondering if i should get 2 pots or just 1 because when i paint them i'm going to do a fair few if i like the scheme (which i do :tu: ). Cedric
Using generous ammounts of Thraka green in 3 layers, one pot is enough for some 20-ish marines. kildash
hey guys, I've just registered here on B&C. I've been active on other forums for years, and have beenr reading here for quite a while now. Anyway, I play Eldar and Space marines, and the latter army has been laying around on the shelf gathering dus for too long. A while ago, I decided to repaint them, and I've been looking for ideas for a color scheme since. This just seemed too good to be true, and I decided to give it a go. Here's three models I painted: Here's two space marines from assault on black reach: http://i304.photobucket.com/albums/nn183/Kildash/Marine%20army%20pictures/DSCN0542.jpg http://i304.photobucket.com/albums/nn183/Kildash/Marine%20army%20pictures/DSCN0543.jpg And the third is a terminator from AOBR whose front I switched with some spare parts I had laying around: http://i304.photobucket.com/albums/nn183/Kildash/Marine%20army%20pictures/DSCN0541.jpg And here's all three together: http://i304.photobucket.com/albums/nn183/Kildash/Marine%20army%20pictures/DSCN0544.jpg I quite like the results... How about you guys? Ow, and by the way, I know that Saint Metcalfedan (for inventing this idea) is using it for crimson fists, but I'm making my own chapter out of them. Iconography is yet to be chosen, but that's not the problem. Does anyone have any name suggestions? 4strsdagr
hey it looks good! I have done some metallics of my own. I'm just getting into ink washes, but you can also mix your silver or gold with some paint and get some sweet metallics. right now I'm using a blend of metallic purple, green, gold, and blue to get a heated metal look it takes some time and patience, but it looks good when I get a chance I will post some pictures. metcalfedan
Sapphire Guard? Seconded, they look great Kildash! :D @ 4strsdagr: Please do! Thanks for the many replies, next update (as you know) will be a while off due to my newly conscripted regiment of Harakoni Warhawks "the helldivers" (see my signature), but I will try to get a few guys done before I start my summer GCSE exams in May (they last untill the end of June - I have, in total 26 1/2 hours of exam time, Yippee!). ;) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/151098-viva-metallica/page/11/#findComment-1918685 Share on other sites

Cedric
Ah, a fellow metallic green/gold painter! The painting is good. You could try adding a bit more depth to the leaves on the chest and symbol on the lower right leg of the termie by perhaps inking for more shadows and giving them a metal drybrush on top. OwenCrute
I'm doing some Viva Metallica Blood Angels with Mithril Silver and heavily-watered-down Red Gore (I have very few viable paints, so I work with what I have.) They're coming out pretty good, but I'm stuck due to aforementioned lack of paints. I'll continue and maybe post pics next time I'm at my brother's place for a decent period of time. kildash
hey guys, me again. I quite like the terminator you posted dude. I don't like the salamander, but that has nothing to do with you, I just hate green :) Anyway, i've been busy with school and all, but I painted three more marines, and a Captain will be put up soon. For now though, here's the marines: the third: http://i304.photobucket.com/albums/nn183/Kildash/Marine%20army%20pictures/DSCN0552.jpg the fourth: http://i304.photobucket.com/albums/nn183/Kildash/Marine%20army%20pictures/DSCN0553.jpg the fifth: http://i304.photobucket.com/albums/nn183/Kildash/Marine%20army%20pictures/DSCN0554.jpg all five I have at this point: http://i304.photobucket.com/albums/nn183/Kildash/Marine%20army%20pictures/DSCN0555.jpg I quite like it, and I love the way it's starting to form a little squad.
