eyescrossed
I don't mind, you can if you want - I'd be very happy to see them ;) Hehehe... I've barely got one done, so it'll be a while :D Also, I could do Viva Metallica perfectly on a Dire Avenger with blue, but the red on my Berzerkers is splotchy. I can't help it, it just is. It doesn't look too bad, though, in my opinion - makes the armour look worn and dirty, as it's mostly slightly splotchy black. Skoby
This really is a great technique, and I love how it works for your crimson fists (I very nearly stole the technique for my army :)) and your Lucius is possibly the best version of that model Ive seen, but I just don't think it works on the Inquisitor lord, it may come off differently in person, but it looks too pink and not red enough. Perhaps try adding a spot of the purple wash mixed in with the red, I use a roughly 3:1 red:purple mix of GW washes on the red in my marines, I have accidentally got it on boltgun metal and I think it may give a deeper and stronger red for you. eyescrossed
I've done a one and a half red Berzerkers. My red is darker than yours, but yours is smoother. Stupid splotchyness... :cuss Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/151098-viva-metallica/page/14/#findComment-2002765 Share on other sites
metcalfedan
It must depend on the way we paint... You know, I think I might try a coat of purple just to experiment a little. :woot: Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/151098-viva-metallica/page/14/#findComment-2002840 Share on other sites

metcalfedan
It must depend on the way we paint... You know, I think I might try a coat of purple just to experiment a little. :D Post pics if you do :) I will if I remember. Now for a bit of a rant... I went to GW bluewater yesterday to enter in a painting competition - the categories were similar to the Golden Demon ones, and I entered Pedro in single miniature, my dreadnought in vehicle/walker, my tactical squad in squad and Lucius in diorama. There was no youngbloods category. The Crimson Fists didn't win anything but Lucius came 2nd, which i'm not too bothered about, but i was a little p***ed with what won, a (won't say badly but won't well painted) diorama of Ultrasmurfs fighting Orks (don't want to offend the owner if he reads this - but then again, he was like 12...) T thing had NO tonal shading, was modelled pretty bad and wasn't even based - just glued to a square rectangle and painted brown. I don't want to sound big headed or generally irritating but THAT MODEL SHOULD NOT HAVE WON :cuss: The same kid also won gold in the squad category with blandly painted silver Grey Knight assault marines - THAT IS AN ILLEGAL UNIT! FGS!!! He beat my friend who entered some (I have to say, beautiful Tyranid Hunters and Cassius - he only came 3rd. But the biggest piece of crap i've ever heard was when someone accused me of cheating because they had seen Lucius IN THIS VERY THREAD and thought I had bought it. THAT'S JUST BULL-****! I mean come on GW! hire some decent employees that aren't biased/have crap judging methods... [/rant] On another note - I've started to glue my warhound together (the lego one) but i've run out of glue... Should I paint it in metallics? metcalfedan
Hey guys, guess what... MY EXAMS ARE OVER!!!!! Now I have an extra long summer as I have finished school - 11 whole weeks! I've been thinking of adding a single Sisters Of Battle squad that can either be used as allies in my Crimson Fists or Urdeshi 4th armies, it'll probably just be a single 10-woman squad suited for anti-infantry duty. I also want them to have metallic armour as they wear PA. I also want them to include purple, either on the armour or on the cloth... So I made a few test pictures: Number 1: http://i46.photobucket.com/albums/f139/metcalfedan/Viva%20Metallica/sister1.jpg Number 2: http://i46.photobucket.com/albums/f139/metcalfedan/Viva%20Metallica/sister2.jpg Number 3: http://i46.photobucket.com/albums/f139/metcalfedan/Viva%20Metallica/sister3.jpg Lemme know which one would be best... oh and I'm open to name suggestions for their Order too. :) Thanks dudes :D Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/151098-viva-metallica/page/14/#findComment-2029211 Share on other sites

Chapter Master Gabriel
The third one looks really good. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/151098-viva-metallica/page/14/#findComment-2029265 Share on other sites
Terrible_Trygon
The third one. The first one looks like a joke and the second one screams of Emperor's Children. Brother Argent
Personally I think No 2. as, if purple as opposed to pink, it will look great. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/151098-viva-metallica/page/14/#findComment-2029825 Share on other sites
sgtNACHO
1 or 3 2 does scream Emperor's Children, and it looks too girly. 1 has a nice blend of color and old knight armor 3 has the extremely strong but good contrast of pink and gold, that 2 doesn't have for some reason. AngryJohnny
Hey Dan, I agree that 1 or 3 looks the best. I would like number 1 better if it didn't have the purple bit on the face/helmet. Brother_Zach
I'm liking this Viva Metallica thread. I'm gonna try and use some of these techniques on some power weapons in my army, since the wet blending isn't going as planned. kildash
hey guys, I've been working on his viva metallica scheme for my own marines, and though I still find his work better, I've been quite busy :tu: First, a dreadnought: http://i304.photobucket.com/albums/nn183/Kildash/Marine%20army%20pictures/th_DSCN0799.jpg And a little inquisitor done up with the same scheme: http://i304.photobucket.com/albums/nn183/Kildash/Marine%20army%20pictures/th_DSCN0804.jpg What do you guys think?
