Viva Metallica

hey guys, I've been working on his viva metallica scheme for my own marines, and though I still find his work better, I've been quite busy :)

First, a dreadnought:

And a little inquisitor done up with the same scheme:

What do you guys think?

Wowsers! I like it! :)

On another note - I've started to glue my warhound together (the lego one) but i've run out of glue...

Should I paint it in metallics?

I definitely want to see yours when it's done. Painting it at all would be pretty cool, and a metallic color scheme would be pretty awesome.

Your work is amazing!!! I've been thinking lately, would this work using Thraka green on the silver base? If so then (with your permission) I think it would put a new twist on my Salamanders :D Also I think it would make painting a breeze and I could finally post some finished pics up here. But I wouldn't want to use the "Viva Metallica" technique without your say-so (just feel funny bout that kinda stuff lol)

EDIT: well after going through ALL 15 pages today i see there are some green marines bouncin around in metallics!

Heh! dude you just made my day XD

Feel free to use it - I don't have any copyrights...(yet) ;)

I'll be going into the store to buy some more washes and a new paintbrush sometime in the week, so I'll take a camera and if it's still in the cabinet, I'll take a snap of the one that beat me. :) Might even get a game too with one of my mates, if we can book a table :P

metcalfden, your Viva Metallica thread has really been a wonderful read so far. In fact, I've actually started using your style of painting for my army I am working on (Steampunk Marines).

^So shoulders are in Thraka Green and armor is in Ogryn Flesh (with the exception that I used 4 washes of each). *Ignore the sword, it was torn off another model and as such hasn't been paint stripped yet or repainted* Keep in mind that the model isn't even close to done. Still have to do the boltgun metals and other such details.

So once again, thanks for a great idea.

Only a picture of the back? ooh you're such a tease...

Looks good and I'm loving the use of the Ogryn Flesh.

Any chance of a photo of the front?

Sorry I thought I posted it.

Once again, not even remotely close to done, and tons of touch-up work left.

Ironically enough I did something a bit similar but in DoW2 I was kinda frustrated with the blandness of the Crimson Fists which have always been an interesting chapter in my eyes, I only wish they had a weapon color cause I feel a bit odd without the red powerfist of the chapter..

Gave it gold trim and called it the "First Company" even tho its probably unfluffy, I like how it turned out, probably might do that with my sternguard once I get them in the mail

Loving this technique, super stuff! Have begun trialling something similar in more of a brass colour which is proving interesting so far...

A minor detour: how did you apply the blood on the chainsword? It has a great slaughterhouse feel without looking like it was simply slapped with the end of a wet brush a few times

Wow fantastic stuff there Metalfedan.

That 3rd Sister of battle is almost exactly the color scheme of one of my female Inquisitors.

I'm thinking of using this technique on a unite of Arbites. Does it come off as good on a model that is only half metallic and half cloth?

I'm not sure, it's worth a try though... Should look good on Arbites.

Anyway, I'm proud to launch my new Site!, it's basically a place where all of my pictures (of finished models) will be easy to see and will (hopefully) updated regularly. Yes is is via Freewebs, but that was so I (with no site building experience) was able to make it. So yeah, enjoy:

(You will also be able to see the finished pictures of my Urdeshi Guardsmen and my Movie Marines - each has it's own album for finished stuff, and a variety of other things too.)

EDIT: I would very much like to create an album with other peoples metallic pictures - if you'd like me to add them, please can you send me the pictures you would like me to add via a PM, thanks :)

Yup, thanks, and lol I take it the steampunk marine army shall look nice. There will be an apothecary finished soon as well. Then I shall start the Standard Bearer/Jumpacks (Pre-Heresy)/Drop Pod (Which is going HG Wells Time Machine Style).

Hey, I'm using this technique to make a test Marine for a comedy army - The Emperor's Rusty Nails! I'm just using Mythril Silver, washed with Devlan Mud a few times. Gives an excellent rusty look.

I'm also going to paint the sword for my Emperor's Acolyte in a dark metallic black colour.

Thanks for the awesome tutorials, dude ^_^

Hey guys, It turns out Viva can be used on Terrain too:
