Im not sure why but i really want to see what you do with Guilliman. Ya im a legit Ultra fan not some bandwagonier or anything but I think it will be interesting to actually see him. Sure we see all too much of the Ultras themselves but not of Papa Smurf. Just that one image of him in the card game but thats it and its kinda blah. Its one of the most fleshed out chapters and no good image of the primarch. Really excited for it. Too bad he is coming last. :P

I'll be honest, I've only just caught up with this thread but...WOW!!!!!

I skimmed through the pages to catch the images rather than all the comments so forgive me if this has been asked already. Are or will they be available as prints and if so, where from?

Aerion my brother, your art is unyieldingly beautiful, the Emperor truely guides your hand.

Forgive my impatience brother but I must pry, which of our beloved Primarchs shall thoust present to we humble battle-brothers next?

I just noticed something today:

This is approximately a hundred out of ten on the awesome-o-meter. I don't know why I didn't see it sooner.

Awfully a long time waiting. I know I'll be shot for "reviving" this thread, but seriously.. 2 months has gone by, and I'm a bit itching for the next primarch drawing.

I sent him an email once for reviving my interest for his drawing for a commission. Have yet to hear from him. I would presume he's real busy with the child and all. I'm quite certain he'd be interested to have some dollahs rolling in to pay for the raising of the child. ;)

My fellow brothers...

Well, what a coincidence that my post should rise up from the dead just a few days before my posting this newest Primarch. I thank @xa0s for bringing it up, though I also humbly thank the Mods for not making this an Inquisitorial case of melta execution. We're all happy to be alive and praise The Emperor!

It's always uplifting to see all the kind words, compliments and critiques that you all have towards my artwork and even the risk of threadomancy many of you run just to ask if there will be some more updates on the project. I greatly appreciate it and always note down all of your suggestions and apply them with my best efforts. I hope it shows!

Now, as for the lateness mentioned by brother @xa0s, he's right in his assumptions that having a baby isn't the easiest task in the world. It is only now, two months and a half after his birth, that my schedule and daily life have somewhat returned to normal. It is a life changing experience, fatherhood, and the most exciting and happy times of a man's life. But it is also much work; that is, if you pay your son due attention, like I do.

A salute from baby Ben to all of you! He hopes to join the mighty halls of the B&C one day, perhaps even posting his own artwork (which I have no doubt will be much better than my own!).

And speaking of the artwork! Here's Corax, mighty Primarch of the Raven Guard Legion:

As I said elsewhere, I really enjoyed working on this Primarch even though I often overlookd him in the fluff and his legion as a whole. They always struck me as a successor chapter, which was not the case at all. Funny, because I've always loved E.A. Poe, and there's lots of references in this legion's theme from that great horror author; the last words of Corax nonwithstanding: 'Nevermore'.

With Corax I tried to think of a darker version of Sanguinius and I was happy to see that my illustrations clearly underline their heritage, but accentuating's each brother's defining characteristics. Corax is much more of a predator, his features hard and crow-like. His wings of hard metal and engineering and his raven's talons made to instill fear into his enemies and a sense of swift death, rather than the amazement and overwhelming feeling that Sanguinius must've projected, being much more radiant and gracious. I think Corax's stance and overall pose within the composition enhance the 'Death from Above!' feeling i wanted to get with this illustration.

One other detail I loved painting was the background Forge World of Lycaeus, Corax's homeworld. It seems to me that these industralised, gritty, smoke and fog filled amospheres are what best represent the gothic foundations of the Dark Millenium.

But enough patting myself on the back. I hope you enjoy this legend of The early Imperium and let me know yout thoughts/comments/critiques as usual! I'll be reading each one of them!

Until very soon!

Aerion.-

PS.. @xa0s, I'll be replying to your PM shortly.

A great piece of art here. :teehee:

I always imagined him with near white skin, but that's just the effect of the genetic manipulation that Corax did after the Heresy.

Congrats on the boy!

Ludovic

Birds, check. Feathers, check. Claws of inevitable doom, check. Solid! :P

Just one thing I'm having trouble with, those two black face-like things poking up above his shoulders. I can't tell if their metal muppets or bug-eyed birds

Congratulations on the munchkin, by the way!

I saw those to on first look at the pic and thought it was Corax' head at first glance.,

They do look like faces though,

Other than that its another fantastic piece of art

I prefer Dorn myself (being staunchly Imperial Fist), but I've also always felt that Corax was undervalued as a Primarch. Nice work depicrting the predatory "Death from Above" theme.

I do have a question to anyone who can answer it though: Did a lot of the Primarchs have White Armor? Because I would have expected Black armor for Corax, and different colors for several others in this thread.

Lastly, I like the crows in the background. Nice touch.

According to John Blanch (Sp?), who is "more canon" in his imagery (Although I do LOVE your work, Aerion!), he seems to depict the Primarchs all wearing Gold armour, and actually some appear rather different to Aerion's imagery. Although Aerion's is a much more refreshing view!

Firepower; It's a jetpack of similar design to the new Sanguinary Guard ones. Pretty awesome :o

Glory be! Our blessed brother returns to us once more, bearing a gift of untold beauty no less! Aerion my brother, it is good to have you back amongst your brethren. It has been far too long.

That is one truly great image Aerion!

I especially like the colour of the armour, the feathers in purple and cyan and red; the lights are great, and the level of detail is fantastic. - Love the birds in the background as well. - They are a great detail to create the impression of atmosphere and distance where there really is no room for advanced perspective cues.

The level of detail in this image could in fact have threatened to make the image too busy, but the strong composition and sharp level of detail makes it so it never gets too busy, yet the image is left as an exploratory trip for the eye. - A very strong piece of art that is excellently concluded.

Well done, keep it up! ;)
