Vadskær
No need for scans, it's still hosted on the GW website (although there's no link to it any more) http://www.games-workshop.com/MEDIA_CustomProductCatalog/m2570007_PaintingFacesMasterclass.pdf e; fantastic work as always Vadskær. I love the crisp black on your ravenwing. Thanks a lot Buddy, and thanks for the link! However, that is not the recipe I used for this particular face - although the I've used the linked walk-through several times with good results! I'll pop a Q to a Moderator and see what they say about sharing info from old White Dwarfs. /vadskær
Vadskær
I think you're meant to be replying to me, Papa asked how long it takes you to complete a model on average. I dont know if it's against the rules, might wanna ask a mod. Ah yes, of course! No good to be replying whilst eating and having a conversation with the Missus I'll as ask a Mod! Vadskær
Damn they are impressive!!! Must practice more, alot more. May I ask how long does a single model take you, such as the terminator? Hi Papa Lazarou. I think the Terminator took me about two weeks to finish. However, my painting-schedule is very varied, so sometimes I really get a lot done, and then it might be a day or two before I get the chance to sit down again and get to work. /vadskær
Marshal Reinhard
Fantastic painting as usual, Vaedskar. Your black is truly an inspiration. No need for scans, it's still hosted on the GW website (although there's no link to it any more) http://www.games-workshop.com/MEDIA_CustomProductCatalog/m2570007_PaintingFacesMasterclass.pdf Ooh, this was a nice find, makes me wonder what else GW has hidden away on their site. Vadskær
Wow, that link is actually very helpful- I'll have to try those techniques out when I get the chance. Yes, it's a brilliant article, and if you follow the steps lined out and remember to keep your paints really thin, you can get fantastic results! I've gotten word from the Mods that I can post a scan from my White Dwarf, so I'll see about getting that done tomorrow. For now, just a closeup of the Terminator-head/face. /vadskær http://i1058.photobucket.com/albums/t410/vadskaer/Skaeligrmbillede2013-02-15kl164601_zps165e7bd0.png

Vadskær
Morning Guys! Since the Imperial Guard is now officially allowed here on B&C as allies, I thought I'd post some of my growing armored force that I've been collecting for the past years. There's still much to paint and many exiting projects ahead (super heavies done with only base coat and a whole Vendetta bought piece by piece through eBay that'll be outfitted with Punisher Gatling Cannons). The models and paint jobs shown are at least a year old, and aren't painted to my usual top standard. They are meant as fun and offer me a good diversion from the painstaking slow one-mini-at-a-time schedule I usually employ. First off is a Leman Russ with a ForgeWorld turret. Enjoy :-) /vadskær http://i1058.photobucket.com/albums/t410/vadskaer/IMG_7077.jpg http://i1058.photobucket.com/albums/t410/vadskaer/IMG_7082.jpg http://i1058.photobucket.com/albums/t410/vadskaer/IMG_7090.jpg http://i1058.photobucket.com/albums/t410/vadskaer/IMG_7095.jpg

Vadskær
Morning Folks, The Sun is up here in Aarhus, and it's a nice morning. To get off to a great start here's another Leman Russ from my allied IG army. I had a lot of fun getting the main gun weathered just right, with a heat-coloured barrel. The model is painted at the same time as the tank above. /vadskær http://i1058.photobucket.com/albums/t410/vadskaer/IMG_7098.jpg http://i1058.photobucket.com/albums/t410/vadskaer/IMG_7101.jpg http://i1058.photobucket.com/albums/t410/vadskaer/IMG_7106.jpg http://i1058.photobucket.com/albums/t410/vadskaer/IMG_7111.jpg http://i1058.photobucket.com/albums/t410/vadskaer/IMG_7113.jpg
Vadskær
Good morning Gents Last evening I finally managed to get the last few details done, and after many long hours of painting I have the pleasure of presenting my Ravenwing Darkshroud as it is engaging enemies on the ground. I choose to only partially follow the 'Eavy Metal paint-scheme, but added significantly more color and changed some of the tones since the official model was a bit too cold and clinical for my taste. As there's only a few of these birds in the DA arsenal I opted for a more decorative and ornamented look. There are several bits from other kits, such as the Ravenwing upgrade frame, the Dark Angels upgrade frame and also from the Ravenwing command squad. The pose was decided early on - I wanted it to be a bit more dynamic, and since I had a flying base from Scibor that I'd been wanting to use for a speeder for a long time, it all came together quite nicely. I was, however, a bit worried if the plastic stand could take the weight of it. It was both a joy and a pain in the ... to paint since there are so many, many details. I'm glad it's done, and I think I'll make do with just a single model for my next project ;-) Enjoy! :-) /vadskær http://i1058.photobucket.com/albums/t410/vadskaer/IMG_0019_zpsff3c2e43.jpg http://i1058.photobucket.com/albums/t410/vadskaer/IMG_0021_zps4a846981.jpg http://i1058.photobucket.com/albums/t410/vadskaer/IMG_0025_zps3c273bf7.jpg http://i1058.photobucket.com/albums/t410/vadskaer/IMG_0033_zps83007c3a.jpg http://i1058.photobucket.com/albums/t410/vadskaer/IMG_0038_zps3a9ce3b3.jpg http://i1058.photobucket.com/albums/t410/vadskaer/IMG_0041_zps7ddc23ed.jpg http://i1058.photobucket.com/albums/t410/vadskaer/IMG_0047_zps19d830a2.jpg http://i1058.photobucket.com/albums/t410/vadskaer/IMG_0052_zpsaf9db724.jpg http://i1058.photobucket.com/albums/t410/vadskaer/IMG_0058_zpsb9dccc86.jpg http://i1058.photobucket.com/albums/t410/vadskaer/IMG_0063_zps5b42df72.jpg http://i1058.photobucket.com/albums/t410/vadskaer/IMG_0066_zps2c3e1a08.jpg http://i1058.photobucket.com/albums/t410/vadskaer/IMG_0068_zps76148683.jpg http://i1058.photobucket.com/albums/t410/vadskaer/IMG_0074_zps6f1302cf.jpg http://i1058.photobucket.com/albums/t410/vadskaer/IMG_0078_zps822ab778.jpg

Dosjetka
While your painting technique is as excellent as ever, the overall composition isn't for me. I still do look forward to your future updates, though :tu:
Vadskær
Looking great! How did you paint the green marble? -Tarvik Thanks, glad you like it :-) The green marble was done the following way: Undercoat: Chaos Black Basecoat: 2-3 thinned layers of Dark Angels Green Begin highlighting the edges with first 1:1 Dark Angels Green & Snot Green; then Snot Gree, followed by pure Goblin Green. After that, begin to mix in increasing amounts of Skull White into your Goblin Green. The veins are painted in this way, and also the very finest edges. Finally a few select dots of pure Skull White. Afterwards, touch up with Dark Angels Green to get your lines nice and thin. I did a very thinned wash/glaze over some of the Dark Angel Green areas with a mix of Dark Angels Green and Chaos Black. Just to add a bit of subtle nuance. None of it goes over the highlights though. /vadskær

I still do look forward to your future updates, though Hahaha, yeah, I wasn't surprised you might think it a bit too crass :-D The next project might suit your taste better - I'm doing a little 3-model diorama using the fallen SM commander model from Space Marine Casualties along side a kneeling Ravenwing Apothecary with his parked bike behind them, and another Dark Angel battle brother standing in an aggressive pose, returning fire. Fallen SM commander done already - working on the Apothecary now. Cheers! /vadskær
Captain Semper
Wow! Very well made as ever Vadskaer! I like the sense of movement you've given to it... You'll make me actually like the model! Seriously though - amazing stuff! :tu:
Urauloth
Never going to be able to like that model, but you've done a terrific job painting it. That base is great, too, where did you get it / what did you make it out of? The sculpting looks like Scibor work, but I can't place it... Looking forward to seeing more guard, I love those tanks. The red and white squadron markings look great.

Nope, it itsn't the most gracious and pretty model made - but since it's DA I had to own and paint it :-) Yes, the base is Scibor - good guess! Check it out here: http://sciborminiatures.com/en_,shop.php?art=881#i/2010/big/fly_ancient_50mm_01.jpg And since you like the Guard models - here's a command Chimera, that's been converted somewhat: /vadskær http://i1058.photobucket.com/albums/t410/vadskaer/IMG_7118.jpg http://i1058.photobucket.com/albums/t410/vadskaer/IMG_7122.jpg http://i1058.photobucket.com/albums/t410/vadskaer/IMG_7126.jpg http://i1058.photobucket.com/albums/t410/vadskaer/IMG_7134.jpg http://i1058.photobucket.com/albums/t410/vadskaer/IMG_7137.jpg
Dosjetka
That is a lovely little tank. Really liking it :tu: And I wouldn't call your painting efforts on the über Land Speeder-thing crass, I just find that there's just too much. And I'm not keen on Scibor bases in general, so you can't really call me unbiased :/ Anyway, looking forward to more Guard stuff too!

Really easy to do and offers a lot of fun opportunities to weather and modify the model. Here's another one - I wanted to do one that would be laden with some of all the spare equipment a squad might have in excess when on patrol. So I made a version without an armoured turret and threw a lot of gear on top. Yes, the land-speeder-thingy is over the top. It is a relic, laden with symbolism and iconography and therefore I wanted to heap ornaments on it. Do you have a preferred maker of bases that you'd recommend? :-) And how's your own stuff progressing? Can you speed-link me to your blog(s)? :-) Cheers! /vadskær http://i1058.photobucket.com/albums/t410/vadskaer/IMG_7180.jpg http://i1058.photobucket.com/albums/t410/vadskaer/IMG_7184.jpg http://i1058.photobucket.com/albums/t410/vadskaer/IMG_7190.jpg http://i1058.photobucket.com/albums/t410/vadskaer/IMG_7195.jpg
Dosjetka
I love that turret conversion. Do you remember how you did it? Would you maybe even have some WIP shots that you could send to me (via PM/e-mail/other)? For bases, I have no experience whatsoever (as in, I've never purchased any resin bases), but I am looking at getting some from Secreat Weapon Miniatures. Check them out, they have quite a selection of hobby things :) My stuff? Well, I haven't been very active, but things are picking up again. If you would like some updates, click the banner in my signature :tu:

If you would like some updates, click the banner in my signature Thanks! It's actually very, very simple. I don't have any WIP shot of it. But it's basically just the top turret attachment and the fitting for the heavy stubber, where I just swapped the weapon for a heavy bolter I snagged from a normal SM Land Speeder. Yes, I know of Secret Weapon and have some of their trench bases. I can't seem to find a new favorite though for my Dark Angels amongst their products.
