I hear ya man about the muzzle flashes. Very hard to get right and would probably take away from the diorama than add to it. I honestly like the script not being on the armored part of the bike. It just doesn't feel right when I picture it. The clean lines allow you to see the embossing without making it too busy. Well done

You know what I thought when I saw that first Deathwing Terminator? Has an 'Eavy Metal hijacked your thread? :teehee: I still don't like the bases, but the models are gorgeous. What can we expect next?

That diorama is so great - not just because the painting is top notch (it really is) but because of the story telling ... Wow vadskaer - just wow!

Also, love the Termies (the Consecrators one especially ;)) but not a fan of scribor bases... sorry!

Keep 'em coming!

How did you do those thin thin lines?!?! The green lines on the deathwing is awesome and the laser thin highlights on the consecrator is unreal!

Hey Guys!

First up - as always your C&C is much appreciated. Also, just because you like what I do and paint, don't hesitate to post suggestions and/or critique. I need to stay sharp and improve further.

As an example, Dark Apostle Thirst posted a comment about the power fist-arm on my DW termie. Yes, from behind it looks as if it's placed too low, but when viewed from the front the two arms are aligned.

I know some of you aren't that keen on the Scibor bases. is it the Ancient Ruins theme, or just their work in general?

Regarding the thin lines (highlights and decorative) it is mainly a combination of the following:

1. Thinned paints - moreso on the decorative trim, where the colour is built up through a couple of layers

2. Correct mistakes. Yes, I make a lot of them, and never get all my highlights that sharp in the first go. I then use the basecoat and go back and sharpen them up. Lather, rinse, repeat ;-)

3. Patience.

Next up will be a Blood Angels Sanguinary Guard - but not in the traditional Gold color.

Wow, Vadskaer. Your work is stunning and inspiring.

I don't know how I missed this thread until now, but I just sat and read the whole thing from the beginning. I can't wait to see more!

For me, it's their height. Some of the scenic bases out there increase the height of the model by almost double.

Just looks silly when I see a unit taking cover behind an Aegis Line (as an example) which barely covers their toes because the models are on tall bases. Or my models are assaulting the enemy's ankles.

As display pieces they're amazing. Gaming pieces? Not so much.

Good evening Chaps!

Thanks for your comments and your opinions regarding bases and what not. Cylu, I agree, as gaming pieces, they are way over-the-top! :-)

Hexenes, thanks for stopping by and having the patience to read through all 26 pages. I hope you become a regular visitor amongst the other fine Gents who frequent this topic.

Dark Apostle Thirst: yes, I went back and did some measuring. The shoulders are not aligned :-)

Alright, enough chatter - time for something new. I present to you my take on a Blood Angels Sanguiniary Guard on touch-down on a battlefield ready for combat. The Missus was a bit put off by his grip of the sword though. "That's no way to hold a sword, why's he doing that?" We agreed, that maybe it was a noob initiate who wasn't really sure on how to use that fine power-stick ;-)

Anywho, I really enjoyed painting the red/white combination. If you recall, I did a more traditional gold colored scheme earlier in this blog, so I wanted to try something else this time. The green gems and eyes offer a nice contrast to the more dominating colors.

Enjoy!

Very nicely done! The red looks great but does not say Sanguinary guard IMHO. This could just as well be a captain/VV with a power sword and a non-standard bolt pistol. Disregard that last part if the rank and file is not red or at least a different shade of red.

And yeah your wife is right, that is no way to hold a sword.

Agreed all around. Gorgeous, gorgeous color, excellently painted model, and absolutely rubbish pose. I really hate it and don't even understand it.

Love the rich red you have on the armour, looks great.

Thanks Chaps, glad you like him :-) I'm doing another Blood Angel for my next mini diorama - a Space Hulk termie vs. two Dark Eldar Vyches!

Now that I will definitely look forward to seeing.

Good evening Chaps :-)

Whoa, it took me a full month to finish the project showcased below, but I've been swamped in work and also took a couple of small vacations. So there has really been way to little time to paint.

As stated above, my new diorama is a snap-shot of an imminent and quite bloody engagement - two Dark Eldar Vyches charging a determined and ready Blood Angels Terminator. Yes, violence will ensue for sure.

The diorama was a pleasure to paint, and I really like how the models complement each other in pose and movement. I'm certainly planning more Dark Eldar vs. Marine dioramas in the future.

For those of you who are interested the base is from Secret Weapon Miniatures.

Enjoy and have a brilliant summer :-)

Please note - there may be duplicate pictures, but the focus shifts from Terminator to Vyches.

@ Quixus, Firepower & Stobz: Thanks a lot - very glad you like it! I'm also quite pleased with the results, and couldn't have found better use for that BA Terminator :-)

Next project will be a Dark Eldar Hellion swooping in to attack a shooting and ready Deathwing Knight!
