@ reckoning34: Thanks Buddy! Always happy to have you stop by :-)

@ Ludovic: Just got a good look at your blog - good to have you back in the "business" of painting! Yes, the Ruined Temple range is great looking, but I just think they are too plain and flat. However, the base I'm using for my Apothecary diorama is actually a 90x120 Trench base from Secret Weapon - but I think it's discontinued since it's not the one they have on sale in their current rage.

Aaaaand since TGIF, here's another Chimera. This was the first one I painted, and the only conversion was to use the top hatch from a Forge World tank. I think this looks way better than the standard turret-top ring, and it creates a slimmer profile.

Enjoy!

I love all the rough stowage on the IG vehicles, great work there V.

It's a shame that after all the top notch work you put into your models you'll now get to auto-lose every game that you feild your 'Derpspeeder' due to the rule of kewl being ignored. ;)

I just haterade that model, your skill is awesome!!!

Hey Stobz!

Thanks for your kind words.

Heh, yeah, with only paper-thin armour and so much bling lighting it up in the skies, it'll be sure to get the attention of all too much metal thrown it's way pinch.gif

Weekend's almost over and an evening with my detail brush in sight! Here's something to look at in the meantime.

@ Captain Semper, Vourne: As requested, here's some of my infantry, DKoK!

They aren't painted to match my tanks though. These three are part of the 5-man command squad from Forge World. The two remaining, a rifleman and the commanding officer is still absent any paint. I painted these three at least a year and a half ago, but are still very pleased with the results - although I think I will repaint the red on the banner as my colour-control with red and blending skills have progressed quite some since I did these.

Enjoy, and thanks for your kind words :-)

This is truly awesome work - the tone of metal is superb! Really like, well... everything! Coats are fantastic (greens and greys work really well) and the banner is really, really well done: contrasting but not unrealistically bright! I really look forward for this army to grow!

Well done mate!

  • 2 weeks later...

'Evening Chaps!

I've put the final touches and brushstrokes to my mini-diorama today:

+ Fallen Angel, repeat, we have a Fallen Angel +

It was a blast to paint, mainly because it was such a varied project, where I got to paint several models, which were all very different. The apothecary was a fun challenge to paint, as I haven't painted to much white before, and not on such a small scale, with shading and different colours in between. The jars of liquids was cool to have a go at, and the fallen commander was a model I'd wanted to paint for a long time. The marine standing over-watch was from the old Space Marine veterans metal set, and even though it isn't the greatest sculpt, it just suited this diorama perfectly, as if the situation is very live with action and enemy fire.

The base is an old product from Secret Weapon Miniatures - no longer produced or in stock. I initially purchased it for a Vendetta but found that the flying stand didn't fit.

Enjoy the pictures. C&C and questions are always welcome :-)

That is amazing! It definitely captures the moment and looks like a snapshot in time! My only critique would be to add a muzzle flash to the Dark Angel providing security. It would I feel be the only element needed to bring this diorama to the next level of SUPER EXTREMELY AWESOMETASTIC level

Thanks Guys for all your very kind comments!

Crusader_Weber, KaosRaptor, Stobz, HJL, A Kvit Ghost, stepper - I'm very glad you like my work! Some of you asked questions or suggested improvements.

Crusader_Weber: Yes, I agree that muzzle-fire/flare would be awesome. However, I have only seen one or two instances of this produced to a realistic level - and I haven't a clue as to how I can replicate it.

Stobz: The only reason I didn't add any scripture was that I closely followed the 'Eavy Metal colour-scheme. Don't know why they chose not to do any.

A Kvit Ghost: Thanks, I'm glad you like my Krieg. I have a bunch more waiting to be painted so there will be more in the future. The bases are from Secret Weapon Miniatures, from their Trench themed bases (the same as the 90mm oval base used above).

I hear ya man about the muzzle flashes. Very hard to get right and would probably take away from the diorama than add to it. I honestly like the script not being on the armored part of the bike. It just doesn't feel right when I picture it. The clean lines allow you to see the embossing without making it too busy. Well done
