Justicar Valius, You see an older looking Rhino soon and although these are the new Mk's I think they work just fine.

Mikhail, I have nothing but praise for them its all really good quality.

Ignatius, I was thinking of not taking it ;)

Landspeeders.

All three are (will be!) equipped with Heavy Bolters and Multi Meltas. They took a fair while to put together and everything has been pinned. I also have a pin running through the flight stand.

The Imperial Fist Symbols are from the new Imperial Fist Kit. I used some on the Vindicators aswell.

You can probably see pretty clearly in this photo that I've also changed over the shoulder pads for Imperial Fist ones.

This is the only unfinished one and thats because I'm waiting for a pointing arm for the Marine and a Multi Melta to go underneath. If you have one please let me know!

Cheers.

If your plasticarding your rhino anyway on the front you can always go for this mk1 look (this is what the actual model produced by GW looked like)

Also if you can get some chaos bits for twin linked bolters that would be great. Love the shoulder pads on the guy above btw.

That rhino is awesome!!! I am planning Iron Warriors as my next army and THAT WILL have to inspire my rhinos lol.

My only other comment would be for you to take the same style as the rhino for the Vindi's that would tie the vehicles together in the pre heresy feel.

Thanks very much guys, the Terminator Shoulder pads are from Maxmini.

The Icons are from the Old Imperial Fist upgrade packs, They came with some backpacks, a Chainsword, a banner top, a pack for on a bike and one of those small Icons.

I cant remember if I showed them but here are the Primarch Honour Guard before I go and spray them,

I've been looking for plasticard ideas for extra armor for my vehicles, and I think this looks amazing. Is the plating scratch built, or did the plasticard come looking like siding?

Cudos on the looks and feel you have got going so far! Can't wait to see more.

The plating is a kit sold by Chapterhouse Studios.

As much as I have to cheer the effort that's going into this army, I also have to admit that I'm disappointed in a few details. If this is meant to be an accurate depiction of Heresy-era Marines, then Mk 7 legs should be the exception and not the rule. Similarly, most of the shoulders look like they belong to the later marks of armor, rather than the much more common 'Heresy' pattern, the prized 'Maximus' pattern, the new 'Corvus' pattern, or the older and treasured 'Iron' Pattern. I do, however, applaud the use of Chaos Marine and Maxmini Steam Knight helmets in an attempt to get a silhouette that would be more fitting.

Some suggestions, many of which are too late:

  • Shave the shoulder pad rims on most of the models so that they're the smooth profile used in Corvus and Heresy armors.
  • Use the Mk I inserts from Chapterhouse instead of the Armored inserts, or at least mix the kits.
  • Rogal Dorn is typically portrayed with a fairly large chainsword, at least in every piece of art I've ever seen.
  • Try trimming down your powerpacks. They all look like Corvus or later marks, which would be silly.

I appreciate the effort going into this, especially since you went to the trouble of getting a Mk IIB Land Raider. It's just the nitpicking perfectionist in me who rebels...

Insacrum, It is from Chapter House Studios as Apothete said. They make very nice kits and this was not hard to put together at all, very little flash and only required a little reworking with hot water to get the parts to fit properly.

Apothete, Thanks for slaying my army.

The MK 7 legs certainly are not the rule. If you take a closer look you will see that my army includes very few of them.

The shoulder pads, Whilst you are correct. I was not prepared to shave all the rims off the shoulder pads and I certainly wasnt going to shave them off the Metal Imperial Fist Icon pads.

I have mixed and matched some older Rogue Trader Era Backpacks into the army aswell as some chaos back packs with the Vents trimmed down to fit correctly. I may in future add some more wiring to the top of the pads but I am happy with them at the moment.

What kits are you refuring to here? "Use the Mk I inserts from Chapterhouse instead of the Armored inserts, or at least mix the kits."

When I come to making my version of Rogal Dorn I shall post the pictures of the artwork that I have been influenced by.

Cheers and now onto my Terminator Chaplain.

http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m40/shaw3029/Pre%20heresy%20Imperial%20Fists/TerminatorChaplain.jpg

I have finished him since I took the photos. So his arm is no longer Blu-Taced on.

http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m40/shaw3029/Pre%20heresy%20Imperial%20Fists/TerminatorChaplainBack.jpg

I also added a small Templar Symbol in place of the Eagle.

Hope you guys like him.

It seems like there are a lot of people nit-picking on small inaccuracies. I think the look great, and remember, GW's official line is that there is no official canon, it is all mutable because of history turning to legend, legend to myth, etc.

But yeah, they look awesome, keep up the good work.

Apothete, Thanks for slaying my army.

Well, it's what I do in other portions of the forum. I just thought I'd branch out...

The MK 7 legs certainly are not the rule. If you take a closer look you will see that my army includes very few of them.

At the scale the pictures are in, it's hard to tell.

Depending on exactly which image you look at, the angles also get in the way of being certain but I do see a mixture of marks. That being said, it still looked to me like you had a prevalence of Mk 7 kneepads, which implies that those legs are showing up more than others. It'd be understandable from a supply point of view, since the boxes are stuffed with Imperator parts that you'd have to pretty extensively convert to get the right look.

The shoulder pads, Whilst you are correct. I was not prepared to shave all the rims off the shoulder pads and I certainly wasnt going to shave them off the Metal Imperial Fist Icon pads.

Shaving the rims wouldn't take much more time than cleaning flash and mold lines, at least on plastic parts.

To me, since bolters have to be drilled and mold lines cleared away, that's a relatively minor investment for veracity's sake.

I have mixed and matched some older Rogue Trader Era Backpacks into the army aswell as some chaos back packs with the Vents trimmed down to fit correctly. I may in future add some more wiring to the top of the pads but I am happy with them at the moment.

I missed that, though it's only truly apparent in one picture.

Also, if you're not aware, those Rogue Trader style jump packs are available as an aftermarket kit from MaxMini. I'm not a huge fan of their version because I think they got sloppy about some of the detail work, especially in the region between the boosters where it's not hard-edged enough to look like machined parts should.

Nice use of Mk2 belt feeds on the bolt pistols, by the way. I can't see whether you shaved the Chaos details off but I'll assume that you did.

What kits are you refuring to here? "Use the Mk I inserts from Chapterhouse instead of the Armored inserts, or at least mix the kits."

Chapterhouse makes two Rhino-chassis insert kits.

One is the option you took, for the "armored" kit. The other is intended to make a Mk IIc Rhino looks like it's a Mk I.

Observe:

"Armored" Rhino conversion kit

Mk I Rhino conversion kit

When I come to making my version of Rogal Dorn I shall post the pictures of the artwork that I have been influenced by.

Actually, that last one was my fault.

When I was looking at the figure, I thought that you were talking about your version of Dorn since you'd brought up Primarchs. However, you'd labeled him as the force commander and I somehow managed to miss that.

My bad.
