Lucifer216
Firenze: Glad to hear that you're thinking of attending the Maelstrom event. There will certainly be no shortage of eye-candy and nice people to play with/chat to at length. Just be aware that there's a small, but significant minority that are locked in a tournament mentality. I'm really looking forward to it myself and seeing what the rest of the PCRC can do. Apologist (he of the truescale pre-heresy Ultramarines fame) is working on an Alpha legion cell, while Bob Hunk is rolling out the latest generation of Stark pattern Imperial Fists. Oh and Lord Blood the Hungry will be bringing some amazingly gribbly (and six eyed) Tyranids :pirate: Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/186931-the-stars-of-dorn/page/5/#findComment-2546588 Share on other sites

I just need to go over the rules, work out army lists (I had one for the rumoured Age of Apostasy event) and finish all 3000pts of my army. I would love to see these guys there, hopefully I can ally alongside you. The Normish
I actually liked Nixon (the actual president)... :) Me as well, especially since I saw that Frost/Nixon movie. HE was a sympathetic fellow, a little corrupt (but which politician isn't?), but overall a nice guy. Firepower
I love seeing joke armies with solid paintjobs. Seriously nice work man. But one complaint which hurts my American soul.....no Patton?! The SHAME! What better American war crazed sociopath hero is there? A Mark Twain servitor would be good for giggles, too. I don't see these guys taking too kindly to USA's first political stand-up comic. Paradigm
Excellently painted minis. That said, well, you've got pretty horrible satire. One thing Americans can do with acclaim is shoot, many of us own firearms and regularly practice with them. That's not even the military side of things but civilian. The usmc are trained to the point of ridiculousness with their rifles. Perhaps a better way to poke fun would have been to say they are so absurdly worried about collateral damage that they always let the enemy strike first so that they will know for sure which of the orks are orks. As far as it being overly corporate goes I'd like to point out that the adverts everywhere started with football, and not the American kind. NASCAR references are fair game, however, as that so called sport is a cultural cesspool. Some clever satire is always welcome. Maybe half the chapter should be red conservatives and the other half should be blue liberals. They can politely argue about the best way to exterminate xenos threats until the xenos have overrun what've it was they were trying to defend. Then they spend all their free time trying to get the inq. to put hell down on the other faction. To make it really good, make their doctrines and claims against each other almost identical. Well, I hope you're interested in beefing up your satire, and not just deriding "amorica". Firenze
Lucifer is doing the comedy British stereotype of Americans. Firepower
Lucifer is doing the comedy British stereotype of Americans. You probably have some about us, which I'd like to hear to be honest ;) Lucifer, you got any more? There's a pretty decent IA WIP in the Liber Astartes subforum called "The Aristocracy" which strikes me as a culmination of American stereotypical thinking of the brits, at least one group of them. There are a lot of different ways to go about poking fun at our cousins across "the pond," from that sort of identity to the overly polite character who would simply go up to an Ork WAAAAGH with eyes snobbishly shut, a slight bow of his head, and mumble in a nasal tone something like "I say dear boys, this is a right racket you're raising. Shall we discuss some economic incentives to calm down? Or perhaps you may like to take this lot over to France?" I dunno, something like that anyway. I'm not feeling particularly funny just now and I always feel like this sort of thing can be construed as racist (a cultural sensitivity which largely comes from American politics, silly as it can be sometimes). The Monty Python references are always a good stand-by, too. NI! Hubernator
It's spelt "Schwarzenegger" :tu: And you picked an appropriate model for him, definately. Gearhead
Patton's a tank commander, Chronus all the way. I vote for Cassius Jackson; there's a man who deserves Toughness 6. And honestly, if you want an even more effective Andrew Jackson, give the man a flamethrower. Francis Marion "The Swamp Fox" would make a good Tellion, or Shrike. Not sure who would stand in for Tigerius. And no cigarette for Oppenheimer? That man was practically a smokestack, at least put a slit in his helmet. Eval Kineval Khan? Also, McArthur was a bit of a prick, and McCarthy was a BIG one. Put 'em in if you want though. Well, if any of your Sons of Dorn are going to use Missile Launchers, then you should definitely do him up like the Soldier from Team Fortress 2. Engineer and Scout are American as well(Texan and Boston, respectively). lee265
I'm disappointed still no General Lee And it was such a good car. Also Nixon as a dreadnaught made me think of the futurama episode when he becomes president again. Just for fun I'm an american and enjoy this a lot. Also Captain America needs to be done too. Solid Zaku
Oh sweet Emperor. Somebody needs to do a CSM army to match this one. And by CSM, I do of course mean 'Confederate Space Marines'. The Emperor's Champion
 They're not exactly Civil War themed....at all.... I mean, I guess you could have a whole army made up of people America has warred against... King George III Antonio López de Santa Anna Jefferson Davis Robert E. Lee Fidel Castro Adolf Hitler Pol Pot Kim Jong-il Saddam Hussein Osama bin Laden etc etc That's a really weird list... I wouldn't agree with putting King George III, Jefferson Davis and Robert E. Lee in the same army as the rest of those guys. I mean, Lee was awesome. hmm...
