Quixus
It sure looks like the one from Anvil Industry. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/189585-jorres-blood-angels-the-lord-of-death/page/10/#findComment-4164781 Share on other sites
Jorre
Can we get another shot of that spear? As Requested Whats the shield on the Vowed Assault squad from? Looks ace and I've been looking for a decent alternative to GW crummy design of storm shield! Is it the Anvil Industries one? Yes the shield is from Anvil Industries as is the spear above! I'm a big fan of his bits! Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/189585-jorres-blood-angels-the-lord-of-death/page/10/#findComment-4164880 Share on other sites
Jorre
So I have planned to include 3 Evisorators in my 2 Skyhammer assault squads, over the last week I have been trying to come up with a good way to make them without actually buying the assault squad kits they come in! In Australia they cost over $70 each and only have a single Evisorator! I combed bits sites and they where very expensive but also out of stock! So I tried gluing multiple chainswords together with little success. They just looked tacky, and just before I gave up and bought the new assault squad kits I remembered a box of Khorne Beserkers I had lying around! Years ago I had planned on using the axes for a death company squad (another project that never ended up happening). Anyway hopefully this should be a suitable counts as evisorator substitute! evildrcheese
The skyhammer dudes look awesome so far. Looking forward to seeing them all done. Â I think dual chain axe is a suitable stand-in for an evisorator. Â Good luck with your rage to salvation pledge! LutherMax
I used the Phobos chainaxes from Forge World on my Death Company – those Beserker ones are a great plastic alternative! Jorre
First Dev squad is now complete! I'm not very happy with the black power armour... my edge highlights are very messy and the armour looks a little drab! So I think i'll try something new with the next squad see if I can make the armour look a little nicer! All good practise for when I finally paint a Death Company! And the Choppy twins are coming along! I really like these guys! I guess I've always had a thing for axes! Also slapped a coat of paint on these scouts I've had sitting around for ages! They where surprisingly quick to paint! only really took a couple hours! So thats one more squad out of the way! A list of things to do before the tournament in November! 1x 10 man Melta Dev Squad (Complete) 1x 10 man Grav Dev Squad (Assembly complete, painting begun) 1x 10 man Assault squad (Mostly Assembled) 1x 7 man Assault squad (Not Started) 2x Drop pods (Assembled only) 1x 5man Sniper scout Squad (Complete) 1x Culexsus Assasin (Need to purchase!!) 1x Sanguinary Priest (Not started) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/189585-jorres-blood-angels-the-lord-of-death/page/10/#findComment-4166647 Share on other sites
Jorre
Just a quick update! My daughter woke up at 4am this morning and fell back asleep before I could feed her! So what the hell got some painting done! Did a little bit of black armour experimenting, and I'm much happier with the results! I find I do a better job and don't get bored with painting when I use a technique that I am happy with. I tend to rush and get a bit sloppy if things are not turning out the way I like them! So these guys are looking alot neater already! LutherMax
Looks spot on! What process did you use? Looks a similar result to the armour I did on my Death Company. Jorre
The Second Dev squad is finished! I am learning just how much work babies are and I'm not getting anywhere near as much time to paint as I thought I would! So this project is really slowing down! I just don't have the time to really focus on this project at the moment and I have exactly 2 months before the deadline! I will keep slugging away though if I can get the next 2 assault squads finished I will feel alot better! Anyway enough complaining! Dev squad # 2 Unfortunetly the photos didnt turn out very well, but I'm alot happier with how this unit turned out! Here is a comparison shot of the seargents from the 2 squads Ive done 1 of the drop pods and here is a WIP shot of the 1st assault squad seargent! I don't have a good photo of the drop pod yet though. Also I have had 2 test games running the skyhammer, both times they have preformed really well. 40 Marines are tough to stop! In the first test they held the midfield and destroyed the majority of my opponents army. The second game was a tough match up for them, but 40 marines rocking up turn 1 and grabbing 4/6 objectives allowed me to control the whole game and pull of a major win even though I lost the majority of my army! Lastley my updated list 1x 10 man Melta Dev Squad (Complete) 1x 10 man Grav Dev Squad (Complete) 1x 10 man Assault squad (Painting begun) 1x 7 man Assault squad (partially assembled) 2x Drop pods (1 finished 1 undercoated) 1x 5man Sniper scout Squad (Complete) 1x Culexsus Assasin (Assembled) 1x Sanguinary Priest (Not started) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/189585-jorres-blood-angels-the-lord-of-death/page/10/#findComment-4181288 Share on other sites
Jorre
No pictures today, but I am halfway through painting this 10 man assault squad! I am really hopeing it will be finished by the end of the next weekend! Also the second drop pod is half finished to! Â I am starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel here! Although id really like to start working on a new BA project. I would like to do the exterminatus formation with vanguard vets and sternguard! Â Better not get to ahead of myself though I still owe 10 unfinshed assault marines for the forum challenge! That is my absolute second priority once the skyhammer is out of the way! evildrcheese
Looking good Jorre! Jorre
Sweet sweet progress! First of the skyhammer assault squads is complete and ready to go! I really love the axe guys! I really need to prepare a better area for taking photos to! I'll add it to the list of things I need to do! The check list is starting to look way less scary! 1x 10 man Melta Dev Squad (Complete) 1x 10 man Grav Dev Squad (Complete) 1x 10 man Assault squad (Complete) 1x 7 man Assault squad (assembled and undercoated) 2x Drop pods (1 finished 1 almost finished) 1x 5man Sniper scout Squad (Complete) 1x Culexsus Assasin (Assembled) 1x Sanguinary Priest (Not started) Still a month and a half to go before the big weekend and the workload is looking manageable! I would really like to get stuck into my RTS vow as its due the same weekend and I really don't want to fail it! If the spartans have he done one thing for me its improved my black power armour method! Not liking black is pretty much the only reason I have never painted a Death Company! So I think that will have to be one of my next projects!
