By which I mean, I don't think our starting with a dark enough base for the metal and your not going through enough stages to make it flow better. At the moment it looks a bit like blocked painting. I think that it came out good, but like you agree with it needing more contrast. The blocky painting the the style I paint in. For better or worse lol. To Emperor's Scourge: Thanks! I do have a very "Splashy/Animated" painting style that I tried to keep with these girls, and that I have all the time. Sometimes it can be a bit...messy. If uncontrolled. But I tend to use a brush with a very fine point and make dynamic strokes with it, I don't know it's the same way I would ink something with a brush. As for Next Army, well this is all right now. I still have 6 months worth escalation league to play through. As far as that and the tourney this weekend... I came in 5th for the tourney, won best painted, got all my extra objective/conversion/painting points for the month. So, out of a possible 18pts for this first month I have 16. So the next units coming down the pipe for my army are WOLF SCOUTS! Or more accurately OMG ;) DID THEY COME FROM WOLF SCOUTS!? I'm planning out the points and unit now. Right Now my next 300pts of Girl Wolves will be: 6 Wolf scouts, all with Melted Bowmbz. 1 w/ meltagun 2/powerweapons 1 w/mark of the wolfin 1 wolf gaurd (for the wolf scouts) Thunder Hammer, Frostblade, Meltabombz ( :D :D ) 1 Lone Wolf, With some sick shizznit. (if there's points) Termination Armor for my Runepriest (just because she needs that invulnerable.) Then any extra points will go to more scouts (if I can make them in this month) or extra doodaads for the termies, or wolf priest. The biggest problem for the month will be the scout squad, since I honestly would take 10, split into squads of 5, but I don't know if I have to the time to hand make 10 scouts, so I may have to scrimp and steel and order bitz to get this done within the time limit. I've already started 3 scouts, so there will be pics of them up soon-ish. :D Comments, Concerns, Suggestions for points sinks or scout loadouts. Accepted! Faces are hard, some of them turned out well, some less so. All of them good practice. she's has a belly button, I just didn't paint it like a giant black dot. And nipples would have me her too "pornagraphic" The model, the paintjob. Nothing about it needs for it to have nipples. It was all about those tattoos. Blue and grays across cold metal and flesh. Can we talk, just you and me? ;) So I've been off doing things away from online forums, but my Girlminators have been with me. We've gone on vacation for a bit, after winning the Escalation League at the game store. YAY! :woot: In addition to some phat lootz that I won from the league the Girlminators have also gone on to win a few other local tournaments, they've been busy to say the least. But now that things have slowed down and there's a GT looming on the horizon I've gone back to look over the work I did. And... ...dang. Some of these girls were in serious need of some TLC, missing pieces, broken arms, mediocre paint jobs on a few. The heat of battle has taken their tole on the girls, not to mention I finished almost all of them in a weekend. The girls need to look their best if they are going to tip over a whole Grand Tournament. And So the: Restoration/Revision/Remaking/NEW Girlminators Project began! So the first thing to do was sort out all the pieces and upgrades I would have to put into new girls, and give the rest to the older girls. I have 2 whole boxes of wolf guard termies hanging out, and I plan to get them all up and running, and split the rest of the bitz amongst the old girls. As far as painting goes I was supremely DISAPPOINTED in the way the girls looked, the "splashy anime" painting style was holding strong on some, but really just looked like garbage on others, so the only thing to do was go over mostly everything and take my good old time to work up highlights and shade and all that. I'm also going to be going over most of the hand painted shoulder pad logos I did, the new ones will be better and ever more personal. First up, the girl whom needed the most work. Claudia Starclaw Managed to mangle, shoot, blow up, and punch A LOT of things in the League. I would have preferred a bit more meat and potatos on the gurls myself. My favorites are the rune priestess and Leslie. I was trying to make new HQs for my army and I had no clue how to differentiate them from the wolf guard. I mean they are all girls in big armor. So after some talking and brainstorming I came to the conclusion that I would make a non-spacewolves girlminator to fight along side the woofz. I never really assumed she would fit in visually but it would give me a chance to make and paint something different. So I decided she would be from the Blood Angels, but not the Blood Angles from the real universe, but from whatever alternate land that the girlwoofz came from. I have already started her, and I have noticed that umbrellas are the hardest thing EVER to make. I think I'll be using her as a Wolf Guard Battle Leader, with a "Frost Blade" and Power first. Excellent paint work on the personal heraldry too. Gotta say, for Space Wolves, there's a shocking lack of tails plastered to everything. How are the scouts coming along? I was having a terrible weekend until I picked up the new paint I wanted from the hobby store. I was excited to put some of it on some girl minators. And I decided that now that I've built the 5 newest girls from bare plastics and green stuff, that they would need the most work. so here's the first of the first out of ten new girls. It's something I started for fun, then have to find a use for so I decided that if she was holding a special gun it would be ok. The process of highlighting and shading went really well on this model, and I'm glad I took my time on the new grey. I'm not going to be changing my girls to be that color, but I REALLY like how it looks, especially with the orange. Might be a good New Space Wolves Color Scheme! Feed me back! I dont know why the idea of melding anime and warhammer appeals to you so much but please for the love of god keep them separate or go play the Tau. you must understand that a bikini clad supermodel/werewolf wearing armor she could neither lift nor wield is absolutely ridiculous even within the confines of a fantasy game. It is absolute disrespect to the creators of the game and its fluff as well as the sculptors of the models to disregard, all of there meticulously written material, simply because you like anime. the fluff is something your meant to work within "bending" but not "breaking" it so blatantly as you have.
