This is the current leader of my dark host, Erebus...

That is one sweet Erebus! I especially love the text on his book. Might have to nick that idea. :tu:

Thanks and please do ;)

Greetings Brothers of the seventeenth legion, blessed of Lorgar and sworn enemies of the corpse-emperor!

I've been working (slowly) on my Host of the Bearers of the Word for some time now, having just found this thread I thought I'd register and demonstrate my support for the True Gods. It's good to see some familiar warrior-brothers with Tzen and Totzebogen's inspirational plogs over on Warseer.

Here's my Dark Apostle, The Praetor Diabolis, the Malign Monk, Perverse Preacher, the Dire Demagogue: Carnak of the Word Bearer Legion of the Adeptus Astartes, Blessed of Lorgar and Ambassador of the Gods of the Immaterium.

I'm currently working on my fully detailed non-metallic Rhino and Dreadnought - inspired by Tzen but based off the Furioso kit instead.

Already done are a measly one and a half squads of CSM with Terminators and Chosen built awaiting paint and in some cases green stuff.

This is an inspirational thread and I'm glad I found it.

So guys, regarding Word Bearer Terminators.

Do you prefer the good ol' proper terminator helmets or the grey knight knightly style helmets?

Trying to decide what route to go with my terminator Lord.

None of them actually. I have always favoured using WFB chaos warrior helmets, mostly by cutting of the horns and adding some tubes/sci-fiic stuff on the sides. Here are some pictures of my earliest squad of terminators:

Remember that if you cannot choose one type over another you can always have both.

I'm still working on my 17th Host, but most of it's bought and built. I'm shooting for 5K.

1 Dark Apostle (Slightly Converted PA Chaos Lord)

1 Coryphaus (Termie Chaos Lord)

1 Gul Vorbak Possessed Squad of 10 with converted squad Icon Bearer

1 Squad of 5 Anointed Terminators with converted squad Icon Bearer and Land Raider

2 squads of 10 Chaos Space Marines with Icon Bearers

1 Squad of 5 Chaos Marine Bikers with converted Icon Bearer

1 Defiler

1 Predator Annihilator

1 Vindicator

1 squad of 10 Havocs with Icon Bearer

I still need:

2 Hellblades

1 Hell Talon

2 Deadclaws

2 Dreadnoughts

1 Gul Vorbak Possessed Squad of 10 with converted squad Icon Bearer

and a Baneblade patterned center piece I'm still planning at this time. All the tanks have FW doors on them ( I split one set between the Pred and the Vindi because of the Pred sponsons and the Vindi front plate), and all the infantry have Word Bearer metal pads on one of the shoulders.

I did my Alpha Legion somewhat similarly at the beginning of the year and it turned out great. Too bad I don't have a camera, otherwise I'd post pics of the WIPs.

Hey all,

This is the first model that I've put paint to in a couple of years. So far its been about 4 hours work and I think I'm ready to work on the base and back pack and call it done.

Any glaring problems or errors that need fixing? Its been painted in 4 seperate sub assemblies and only put together now. Also, any suggestions what type of base is going to complement the paint scheme?

Thanks in advance

Dan

Hmm, I haven't poked around here in a while!

Defiler

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v232/veritas117/My%20Best%20Models/100_3853.jpg

!

My defiler is ready for pre-final-assembly painting to start, and I've looked a few times for decent reference photos to help with that. Best by far! I actually feel good about tackling that thing now.

Happy to help!

Anyway, i wanted to field abbaddon, but i didn't want the actual model(so small!) and i didn't want him to be black legion.
Do what I did, and make him Warmaster Davroth...or at least I think that's what his name is. Anyway, there's a big-shot warmaster dude with a decent amount of fluff in the Apocalypse book; I simply took the name and gave it to a different warmaster B).

Hey all,

There are some absolutely phenomenal works in this thread. It's very inspirational. Up to this point my Word Bearers Host has been quite meager, but after seeing all of these fabulous pieces I am feeling motivated and am going to pick up the rest of what I need to get my Host up to 2000pts and get cracking on it.

I had originally planned to base my Host on the 34th, but am now debating on creating my own Host. We'll see how creative I am feeliing when it comes to picking out names for the I.C.'s and what not....

Anyhow, thanks again for the inspiration, and when done I'll be sure to post up some pics.

Alright! As I said in my previous post, this thread inspired me. So I ordered some stuff so that I could really get my Word Bearers up to about 2000 points. Today, the first few of many boxes and bits arrived and I am rolling on my force!

Hopefully I can get my camera to cooperate so that I can document the works-in-progress and post em up in the WIP section.

Wish me luck!

Hi All, Just started my Word Bearer Force - and am now trying to gain as much background information on the Legion and how it will work within the game, based on that background. Aware that they have been 'removed' from the current codex ( the last time i had anything to do with 40K, they had a section in the Codex - haven't played since then). Enjoyed the thread so far, though a bit lost at times.

All the legions got removed, but the Word Bearers did worse than average. They only got one pic in the color plates and not even a trooper in the lineup of CSMs from the various legions and major warbands. I also don't remember them getting any fluff, although I could be wrong since my codex is 200+ miles away. Course there was a lot of red in the lineup so the artist might've just gotten bored and wanted to do something different.

Ok, so as i'm starting out on the WB front, i thought i'd ask some advance.

Building for a 40K in 40 minutes force (400pts), do i go with full strength squads (13 figures - 12 CSM inc. Icon, special and Heavy Weapon + Initiate/Acolite), as a base force ? What else would be useful - i'm adding a group of summoned Daemons, and was thinking of possessed (Blessed - like to term) as shock troops.

Also, i feel i should name this force, and to that end step forward - 'Kor-Glas', Dark Apostle of the 117th Host.

I started a WB force last week, haven't gotten to the painting stage yet but I'll post some pics when I do. It'll be a challenge, I've never really worked with reds before (or painted anything in power armour for that matter) and I'm having to learn to sculpt parchment~
