Lord_Starscream
I've made his Crozius/Dark Maul spikier since the picture. More spikes just as a whole, much less 'subtle'. He won't be finished for some time because of the mods to his cap mainly. Skin cape ftw. I'm going to, when I paint it, all scripture all down his skin cape. Also, once I get the cape, I'm going to add Holy Scrolls to his right arm, I just don't want it to potentially mess with the cape in the meantime. Lord_Starscream
Yea, I'm taking the Mark of Khorne off it though. My friend, who is a bit better with Resin than I am, is doing it. I can't afford said 30 dollar purchase largely for a head, to go wrong. Also: Incomplete weapons due to not knowing how the new book will do this- Chosen Squad 1: http://img13.imageshack.us/img13/5171/20110930232923611.jpg http://img192.imageshack.us/img192/1699/20110930233022758.jpg Chosen Squad 2: http://img713.imageshack.us/img713/9552/20110930233118914.jpg http://img200.imageshack.us/img200/932/20110930233226356.jpg Still gonna add more scrolls to them and such. I'm waiting for a new codex before I finish these guys though. I wanna know exactly what else I can give them and in what quantity.

The head was just added to make it look more completed, its not glued.) Still lots of work to be done. Done Done Done. Very Impressive Lanparth. Can't wait to see your DA when its finished. Love the way you've done his Accursed Crozius :woot: CSM's are looking wicked as well. I almost decided to wait on the new 'dex for mine but just couldn't do it, hehe... ~BtW
Bearingtheword
Just realized I hadn't added the updated pic of my Dark Apostle Marduk over here in this thread yet. So.... Since this pic was taken, (and due to some urging by Kizzdougs) I did go back and attempt to add some highlights to him. All things considered (mainly the damn neuropathy in my hands), it turned out prety well. Gonna have to take some new pics soon and post them soon. ~BtW
Brother Ambroz
So guys, regarding Word Bearer Terminators. Do you prefer the good ol' proper terminator helmets or the grey knight knightly style helmets? Trying to decide what route to go with my terminator Lord. TDA None of them actually. I have always favoured using WFB chaos warrior helmets, mostly by cutting of the horns and adding some tubes/sci-fiic stuff on the sides. Here are some pictures of my earliest squad of terminators: Remember that if you cannot choose one type over another you can always have both. Prophet where do you get those helmets from? Lord_Starscream
The Head is on. Some finishing touches as well. The Cape won't be ready for weeks, but that is fine given that he has to be painted and otherwise finished before I add it. - http://img829.imageshack.us/img829/8558/20111001214842844.jpg http://img820.imageshack.us/img820/9453/20111001215207255.jpg http://img571.imageshack.us/img571/7503/20111001215226630.jpg http://img31.imageshack.us/img31/3097/20111001215253312.jpg Do you guys think the Blood Angel's corpse is too much btw, or takes up too much of the base? It's WHFB Chaos Warrior helmets that I cut the horns off of. Then I add some rebreather devices (or whatever futuristic stuff it is supposed to be) on the sides with wire and green stuff. I also cut "scars" in some of them, as with the axe wielder here.
Brother Ambroz
That looks sick Lanparth. He's one hell of an HQ. Ah I thought so Prophet but you did a really nice job cutting off their horns. Can't even tell they had any to begin with even before you painted them!
MaliGn
I've been toying with the idea of building a crozius from strips of 1-2mm wide thin plasticard wrapped around a svarowski crystal, with suitable spkyness, anyone got any thoughts

Although the idea is a good one; its just going to be damn hard to implement.
Dark Apostle Thirst
'snip' You're awesome ;) I don't think the Blood Angel takes up too much space at all, and if the majority thinks me wrong I would vote on expanding the base instead of removing the marine

Lord_Starscream
The paint job isn't as good as I wanted, I am gonna keep working on him. I wanted a duller red, not as bright as Blood Angels Red, but I'm finding that it doesn't pick out his armour enough. So, I may do some more touch ups to bring that up. You try hitting it with some baal red wash yet?.... I have found that mine don't get that "right" colour for me until I have done that and have let it dry... Still I'm liking yours...Mine? I'm not sure if it's the lighting or if I suck that bad (though we are always gonna be our own worst critic). I did go back and attempt some highlights, but ... I know I'm gonna be limited by my damned neuropathy issues, though I try not to let them stop me. So as long as whatever I end up with looks good enough for tabletop I am happy, cause I know I'm never gonna win a GD or anything. But anyhow, it seems I got sidetracked there...what I was trying to say is keep at it and I can't wait to see how he's coming along. ~BtW
ArgelTal
Hi there guys. I collect Chaos and I was at a loss what color to paint my heretics. First I started with Thousand Sons, then I went onto painting it Nurgle. And then finally I read the First Heretic and I set my path down Gal Vorbak's way. Prophet, your super heavy church sent me down the point of no return. :P When I look at your models, how do you guys get the shiny look on your red? The not TOO shiny, but just right look. And should I wash my silver trim with Badab Black or leave it. Thanks in advance :tu:
Bearingtheword
Welcome ArgelTal! I find that I get just that right amount of shine from the GW washes. I hit all the metallic parts with Badab Black Wash, the red parts with Baal Red Wash, a coat of Gryphonne Sepia Wash on the "bony" parts, and then give the whole model a liberal coat of Devaln Mud Wash to give it that worn, drity look. Not sure what others do for there's but I'm sure they'll post and let ya know. Also on models like my possessed squad I hit the exposed daemonic and fleshy areas with a thin brushing of 'ard Coat to give them a slight wet look. The Anthony Reynolds written Word Bearer Trilogy is what started me leaning towards a WB host, but I have to admit that it was definately ADB's First Heretic that convinced me to jump over that ledge and into heresy, hehe. Good luck on your host and definately post pics and keep us up to date on your progress ;) ~BtW
ArgelTal
Would it be fluffy to play in an Apocalypse game to have: 1 squad of: Thousand sons, Emperor's Children, Khorne Berserkers, and Plague Marines as troops, and then the 4 different marks on whatever else your packing? I mean, undivided can mean 4 parts put together right? Right now, I'm using Chaos Black --> Mechrite Red --> Red Gore --> Scab Red --> and then a wash. Not looking very great and I'm spending a whole lot of time on every model. Help! Just an aside: What chapter number is the Serrated Suns? I remember it said 30 something in the First Heretic, but can't remember each one, and because of the BL book, I now field Possessed Marine models as chosen just because they're so awesome and GW nerfed possessed so much. Kizzdougs
Welcome to the Forum ArgelTal ;) For my WBs, -Chaos Black, -Mechrite Red (2 coats), -'black line' with a 70/30 Mechrite/Black mix, -highlight with Blood Red, -Baal Red wash. Regarding your Apocalypse question. I don't feel that would be fluffy unless each cult squad was heavily converted to look like Word Bearers with the particular qualities of the cults. ie. berzerkers could be WB assault veterans with a few more skull trophies than usual. Plague marines could be heavilly armoured veterans lead by an apothecary. Alternatively, each cult squad could be modled to look like WB marines possessed by the Daemons of the relevant cult troops God.
ArgelTal
-'black line' with a 70/30 Mechrite/Black mix, Black line? Would it look right to paint thousand sons or plague marines in the color of the word bearers? I was just talking to a Loyalist friend of mine, and I said that I might get some purity seals for Word Bearers, he said I was being an idiot. Isn't it common for Word Bearers to have "impurity seals"?
