Great to have you painting again, he looks great, I think I may pick up the honour guard from FW for some conversion bits, because they look pretty neat scattered about.

Keep up the great work.

Mr Ravendove: I've been watching this thread for a while and ibe always been amazed by your work, one of the main things I really love is your scouts and their cammo....I may have to borrow that pattern but change the colours for my Crimson Fists scouts.

Also 'Milliput' where'd you get that from?

Your blog is a a great source of inspiration. It really shows how a simple, yet well executed color scheme looks great when applied to a whole army.

Oh and is that a detolf or detlof cabinet from Ikea you are keeping your models in? :) I swear it got to be the most used one in the world

Very cool stuff, Ravendove. I'm keen to see the finished product of your hybrid bolters.

Ask and ye shall receive!

Pretty simple conversion, using a standard Boltgun with a Storm Bolter clip and Tactical scope. The strap was taken from one of the Scout Squad Boltguns and the Melta-parts from the Combi-Melta come from the FW Elysian special weapon set.

Here's the finished Combi-Melta Sternguard. I'm currently painting up the 2nd one, holding the bolter above.

You can get Milliput from pretty much any hobby store. I bought mine online from the same place I buy most hobby materials, Antenociti's Workshop.

Haha, yes that's a Detolf alright! ;) Gotta love IKEA.

great looking stuff.are you going to battle damage the board or have they just arrived in a show town

Not sure yet - the finished board is such a long way off, but there will probably be some minimal damage here and there. No ruins though, definitely no ruins.

wow! your army gets better and better...any plans to do a chaplain? <_<

No, probably not. There's just no place in the army for one, really.

Love the Sternguard, Know how hard it is for me to not steal the idea?

How are you running them equipment wise?

3 combi - weapons and something power related on the Sergeant?

Kris

I'll be running two Combi-Meltas and a Heavy Flamer.

As always, superb work on the Sternguard.

If I had to be really picky I'd say the grey highlight on the combi-melta looks a bit thick.

I'd really love it if you made a display board for this force, it really deserves a special home!

Yeah, I would agree with the highlight. Thanks for pointing it out, critique is what this blog is here to get, right? I'll go back over it later.

Picture time! I've been building some more Sternguard and started painting on the 2nd. I decided in the end that I didn't like the look of the single large shoulder pad. I couldn't pick a style to paint the Crux symbol in on the right one either, so eventually I just pried it off and decided to go with two Mk3 pads instead. Here's the current line-up:

I've also started mocking up the Sergeant (who follows tradition with the other Sergeants in the army, cloth tabard) and the Heavy Flamer. I also decided to use the FW Boltguns instead of the converted ones I showed previously, makes them stand out a little I thought. Might add the larger Storm Bolter clips though - haven't decided yet.

Vulken454: Pretty sure the laurel head comes from the commander box.

And second that. What kind of conversion are you going to do for the heavy flamer, as I'm gonna have to figure something out myself pretty soon.

Loving the work, keep it coming Ravendove.

Actually, I think that head is from the Sanguinary Guard box

@Ravendove: Love the Sternguard, can't wait for more

Yeah, the Sergeant's laurel head is from the Sanguinary Guard box, with the blood angels iconography filed off.

Well, as you can see currently it's the Terminator Heavy Flamer chopped off at the arm servo, attached to a Tactical Marine shoulder. I've then got a Grey Knight arm which fits perfectly at the handle (where the paperclip is). So the Marine will be holding it like a Heavy Bolter, running forward.

Thanks for the breakdown Ravendove. The grey knight support weapon arm is perfect! I have a ton of those lying around and was dreading having to convert something similar from a bolter open hand. Keep up the awesome work.

The Heavy Flamer Marine pose mocked up. I'll be green-stuffing the elbow joint and where the hand is grasping the handle.
