++Librarium Painting Challenge 2011++

Recommended Posts

Take that past me! I've completed a vow!

I, Ferrata of the Liber Astartes, vow on the honour of my Chapter to paint and present at least One Comabt Squad (5 Marines, including Sergeant and Special Weapon) on or before the 31st of March, 2011. I promise to provide at least two WIP updates, preferably with pictures, in that time. I vow that if I should fail, I will provide the Librarium with an article and wear the Signature of Shame until my penitence period is done.

The pictures are not fantastic, I need to go round the bases with some black to neaten them up. But I am quite happy with my painting of Marines, which typically sucks. I much more of a man to hide my poor painting in hordes :)

The black helmet denotes him as a Veteran, with all normal marines having white helmets I needed to do something different.

This is a third or fourth update on my challenge, I forget which.

I oathed to do 8 Bersekers and 5 Chaos Terminators. As of tonight I have completed 2 Chaos Terminators and the full 8 Bersekers. The 2 Terminators were a previous update, so here is the post that has the pictures of my 8 Berserkers that I put up tonight in my running WIP thread.

I do believe I'm actually going to accomplish this :P

I, Thrall_Love of the Ultramarines, vow on the honour of my Chapter to paint and present at least one Tactical Combat squad and Captain on or before the 31st of March, 2011. I promise to provide at least two WIP updates, preferably with pictures, in that time. I vow that if I should fail, I will provide the Librarium with an article and wear the Signature of Shame until my penitence period is done.

Ok, so upon further reading I realised I missed the sign up. So even though it's not official, I'm still sticking to this vow.

I have a feeling I am going to be embarrassed about my painting skill (or the lack thereof)... current progress report is here.

Heh, you pledged to paint them, not make them beautiful. Besides, most people I've seen underrate themselves. There's the folks here who have been painting forever and can do amazingly detailed effects, but there's nothing wrong with a cleanly executed mini in just a three or four basic colors IMO.

Don't even sweat that, I've been reasonably unhappy with every paint job I've done in spite of what others say. I view this as just impetus to actually pick up a brush, not to add it to a portfolio while vying to paint a chapel ceiling. :P

I joined this year's LPC mostly because Sigismund Himself had absoloutely no shame about embarrassing me into participating through belittling of my abilities to actually complete a) a project of any sort at all and b ) do so at anything faster than the pace of your average glacier. Below is the vow I committed myself to:

Since I made that vow on January 5th I have indeed posted many, many picture laden updates to my LPC vow both on my blog and in the

SFD thread in the WIP forum and I am now extremely pleased to announce I have completed my vow! Huzzah!

Below are my completed LPC miniatures - a Rhino and a Combat Squad in the guise of Raven Guard:

those look really good, how did you print the name on the thino, it almost looks stenciled or done with tranfers even.

Ta -_-

It's a transfer from the standard vehicle decal sheet that comes with Rhinos etc. (or at least it used to).
