You know you are a Black Templar when....

"ZEAL makes all things possible, DUTY makes all things simple"

                                               - First Captain Sigismund, Imperial Fists Legion.

The first and greatest Emperors Champion, the first and greatest High Marshall, the one to declare the Eternal Crusade. Second only to his liege, the Primarch Dorn.

When you refuse to buy the Sigismund FW model until you can buy TWO at once! One for the HH IF, and one as BT First High Marshal!

(I can't see it being done any other way. If it is to be done, LET IT BE DONE RIGHT!)

THIS! This is always what I have always wanted!

"I have served alongside the Legiones Astartes before, but these Imperial Fists are a breed apart. They seek no praise and all the honours and badges of glory more then not at all -- but when the dark presses close and the claws of the unknown reach for the throat of our armies, there are no other warriors I would choose to stand beside me, for they fight like the titans of legend!"

                                         — Agastan Kanto, First Sword of the Antikan Regiments

The Templar Brethren, or Templars, were the elite of the VIIth Imperial Fists Legion during the Great Crusade and Horus Heresy eras in the 30th and 31st Millennia.

They were the Guardians of the Temple of Oaths aboard the great fortress-ship Phalanx, and the Legion's most highly accomplished warriors.

Warriors of unequalled ZEAL, the Templar Brethren's relentless determination and matchless skill were the hallmarks of this deadly company, whose punishing recruitment protocol ensured that only the finest Imperial Fists bore their proud heraldry.

Though their duty bound them to the Temple of Oaths, these dauntless warriors were found wherever the Imperial Fists carried the Emperor's Great Crusade to unify Mankind.

They bore the best wargear that the armouries of the VIIth Legion could provide: ancient archaeotech, the newest creations of the Mechanicum and more common marks of weapon forged with exacting precision.

With their superior skill in battle and the finest weapons at their disposal, they were at the spearhead of the Emperor's Great Crusade to unify Mankind.

Excelling in close combat, the Templar Brethren wielded Power Swords in battle, whilst their Combat Shields provided much-needed protection as they fought on the frontline in addition to their ornate Artificer Armour.

Few enemies of Mankind seldom survived the first shattering charge of the Templar Brethren and had little chance of overcoming their defences.

At the leading edge of battle, these warriors inspired their brothers with their unyielding courage and the blood-red path they carved through the foes of Mankind.

How any one could NOT want to a Black Templar is beyond me.

When you see that in Shadow War:

the "scout sergeant" is on par with a Vet Marine and you quickly envision a particularly gritty Sword Brother with his Hellfire bolt pistol and power sword and a bunch of eager Neophytes.

You know you're a Crusader of the Black Templars when you cut your food and going out budget for a Black Templar Upgrade Kit. Don't need steak to purge xeno filth, I can sustain myself on FAITH AND ZEAL!

You know you're a Black Templar when tactical marine boxes always cost $73.

When even the game itself conspires to force a psyker on you and you just make use of it to assault things better.

A buddy of mine was helping me test some stuff out for a campaign idea I've been kicking around and we were playing around with the new war zone cards for the first gathering storm book.

Drew the card to turn a random character into a psyker and my Templar Marshal got randomly rolled out of 8 potential characters. Refused to use the power he got and instead just made use of every time we drew a card that gave psykers a better buff, like plus 2 strength or toughness and continued rampaging around the table all game.

PREACH IT BROTHER!!!

You know you're a Black Templar when you take an Assassinorum Execution Force and:

-Constantly position the Culexus near a Witch just to delight in seeing the frustration on your opponents face,

-Field the Eversor as close to direct combat as possible, because who doesn't like seeing a drug fueled human Ninja Blender in action?

-Use Polymorphine to put the Caludus as close to danger as possible, because shape-shifting is a mutant power & you don't really feel bad doing it

-Struggle internally attempting to use the Vindicare in ANY way (wuss only likes to shoot!)

And, in a game allied with Smurfs, you watch their DS try to take out a Traitor Leman Russ, fail to do so for 2 turns, move the High Marshal in range for his Combi-Melta, pop it, and cause a D6 explosion! (Helbrecht: "That's how you do it, Troops! Now go hit something with those Grav and Las Cannons!)

... when for some reason, you read the signature of Sword Brother Ryan as DESTROY THE WITCH, NO MATTER THE ODDS!

That works also...

Fixed it though.

You have a serious case of "just one more page" reading Helsreach.

For a true son of Dorn, there will never be enough. If a Templar has the energy to draw one more breath, he will use it to land one more blow on the enemy, to destroy one more obstacle to the Emperor's Great Plan, to conquer one more world for the Imperium; then (assuming he's still alive) he'll shoot/stab/slash/smash the next enemy, to kill that heretic/witch/xeno, to conquer the next planet in the Emperor's name; and then he'll attack the next enemy, repeating the cycle until the entire galaxy is under the Emperor's rule (or until he's dead, whichever comes first). I actually use every art in the Rare and Cool Templar art forum topic and then some as my desktop bg... they rotate around in random while different DoW Space Marine themes play in the bg... tends to annoy some people in the house, so I always make sure that the headphones are attached when the computer is on... and headphones detached when I'm alone...

I tend to think that this is how monitors in the Eternal Crusader are like when on idle... they just spread the Zeal...

Same here, i have about 15 pieces of Templar art that rotates through my two screens. It was a PITA to find high enough resolution ones to not look awful at 1440p though....

You know you're a Black Templar when you see the whole Thousand Sons legion and their daemon primarch along with all of Tzeentch's Lords of Change including Kairos on one side, yourself and your chainsword on the other, and think "I totally got this."

Until the sun burns itself out, this thread will remain, active and used daily.

When the sun does burn itself out, Emperor be praised, we will transfer it to the new Bolter & Chainsword created on "The Eternal Crusader" by High Marshall Helbrecht in honour of it's founder, Thirdeye, and to preserve the record of humanites love of HIS Black Templars since Jan 19, M2, 05:59

When my wife asks me to change the picture on my phone screen of the God Emperor for one of hers, and i refuse, and reply that I won't tolerate such heresy within my house!

(She just rolled her eyes

You know you're a Black Templar when your marshal leads to whole crusade to fight an entire Word Bearers host over who gets to call their flagship Crusader of Hatred.
