It's a 50cm x 60cm photo frame. If so, just make the indentations a bit deeper and glue metal discs/washers on the bottom. The magnets in the models' bases will stick to the discs. You can always go up with display boards. You've probably seen it, but one of the best "Armies on Parade" boards I've seen simply goes up several layers due to a lack of space.
