So, my hobby butterfly syndrome has been going nuts lately.

One minute I’m working on some Havocs

http://i113.photobucket.com/albums/n235/Stovie_2006/Biohazards%20Worldeaters/A7D527F6-85B2-4E28-90AA-3C1E40DF2585.jpg

The next I threw together a Dark Apostle for a game against SystemSyn. Head is a placeholder for now

http://i113.photobucket.com/albums/n235/Stovie_2006/Biohazards%20Worldeaters/641AE357-88E0-42AE-B7E2-ED3566BE1BB9.jpg

Then I decided to rip apart a massive Land Raider conversion I posted a long time ago with plans of making it into a Spartan proxy. Waiting on some plasticard arriving so I can finally have a go using that material. The pilot section will be covered over. I’ll either magnetise or binge the SR canopy to allow the pilot to be seen. Not sure yet. This is still very early work as well. I’m going to have to try and source some lascannons to build the Spartan load out as well. I’m thinking I might get away with Ven Dread ones.

Also want to add this model is being built strictly to the rule of cool so I’m not too fussed if it looks like it will ‘work’ I just want to build a brutal sci fi tank :D

While building that I spotted these guys sitting on the shelf undercoated and then decided I was going to paint them. I burnt myself out with painting towards the end of last year getting my army ready for a couple of local tournaments and haven’t really lifted a brush since. These guys have been a ‘nice’ palette cleanser and I’m really enjoying working on them. Still a fair bit to go on them but I’m happy enough to show some progress.

Hoping this productivity continues :)

Impressive, most impressive. Both in terms of the Spartan and the Apostle!

I'm particularly impressed with the Apostle - especially given the 'basic' troop nature of the parts! I really like the place holder head - interested to see what intend for it.

I'll keep a close eye on the old Spartan too!!

I am so comforted that I'm not the only one to start building vehicular monstrosities, only to have them sit in a state of limbo for ages. Don't worry you're in good company. The butterfly has been taunting me for quite some time, and it's sooooo hard to ignore. I had no idea they could get so large if you don't indulge them for quite some time.

Firstly mate, those Nurgle daemons look great!! Esp the big guy :tu:

I like where you are going with the Spartan alike, and you know I love those tracks. For rule of cool the Stormraven canopy would look great to see the pilot, :cuss: to practicality!!

Dark Apostle looking great (I would add a cloak!) and if you don’t stick with the head might I suggest the Skully FW Night Lord terror squad Champions one?

Bjorn Firewalker, that’s exactly what I was meaning when I said I was sticking to the rule of cool :D

Pearson73, thanks buddy. I do like the head but it needs some tweaks yet. :tu:

Lord Commander Eidolon, thank you, I like how hes come out as well. Fairly no nonsense just as a WE priest should be. For the head I was thinking of using the Blood Angel Chaplain head but the lack of sculpted eyes on that helmet really bugs me. I may add some bits to the Reiver head, it’s a little too clean cut just now. :tu:

Subtle Discord, it’s an affliction I swear!

I have a really short attention span when it comes to a lot of projects and only really work on things when I get a burst of inspiration. I realise that this can probably get pretty frustrating to those who follow me on here or Instagram. So, yeah....sorry about that. :D

Midnight runner, those tracks are just awesome. You can’t really build a Khorne vehicle if you don’t slice your fingers on the treads now and then BFTBG!! The Spartan should be getting some work tonight. My plasticard order arrived yesterday so it’s time for some experimenting. :)

As for the Apostles head, I’ve used that skully NL head on my Warpsmith a while back so want to avoid the repetitions. I have an idea of maybe slicing the front from the BA Chaplain head and adding the Reiver face. Means he would still have his spiky crown but a better defined face. Not too sure yet.

And the Nurgle Daemons I’m LOVING them just now, I’ve just finished another of the mouldy crew. Will be working on their bases tonight. I have some plans for the Big Guys base. :tu:

Elduderino, thanks bud, the head is one of the ones from the Primaris Reivers :tu:

Here’s what I painted today. I have managed to paint the squad of Plague Bearers and finished the Great Unclean one, I’ll show more of them once I have finished the bases. Until then here’s Horticulous Slimux, the lighting isn’t great but gives an idea

Also last Friday I had a game against SystemSyn and his awesome Emperors Children, the lighting in the hall isn’t too great so the pics didn’t come out as well as hoped but it was as always a really bloody and fun game. :tu:

I’d brought Abbadon along by accident but thought he could oversee the battle.

AHorriblePerson, that is very true. There were plenty of skulls offered to khorne that evening. :tu:

Sockwithaticket, thanks bud, I’m happy with how the GUO has come out, I went over the purple intestines though, I just used a thin layer of Blood for the blood god. I really like the sticky wet look they have now.

For the GUO I tried something a bit different for me with his base and the results were.....poor, it was a bit of a failed experiment but I’ll definitley try again in the future. I think I added a bit too much ink to the mix so it’s not as translucent as I was hoping for. It does still have the appearance of smelly scummy water I suppose. Just not quite what I was going for. I’ve still to tidy the rim of the base etc

And here’s a peek at the next base/model I’m working on. ;)

I was hoping for something a bit brighter more toxic waste look but the more I look at this the more it’s growing on me.

I’ve also just realised I need to blend the wash on his horn a bit more and also need to add some verdigris/rust to the flail

Another fantastic update, buddy! :)

For the apostle, do you still have one of those bare heads from the plastic chaos warriors? I find those make for a fantastic preacher-y Dark Apostle head!

chaplain-belzas-azalon-wip-1.jpg

Looking forward to seeing the tank take shape, especially since I have been thinking about something similar for ages! There's a - slightly similar - project by Andy Kessler that you may be able to draw further inspiration from.

The Great Unclean One is looking fantastic! Definitely needs some verdigris on those skulls, though, as you have already pointed out.

As for that latest teaser, is it ANGRON, at long last???????

Thanks for the tip re the head but to be honest I really don’t like that head. Especially it’s neck area. Not sure why. I’m going to stick with a helmet I think. Will come back to him. :)

I did see that Lord of Skulls kit and it has some nice ideas on there. Thanks for the link.

As for the teaser....maybe it is ;) Hopefully more updates tonight :tu:

Very cool work man. I'm dying to show my friend your stuff, he has a huge world eaters/khorne army and I think he would really appreciate your stuff.  He is the guy I'm converting a Khornate knight for and I have tried to steer him towards checking out stuff online for motivation as he like conversions but often needs a bit of a push to try himself.  I feel like your stuff is a good push :biggrin.:
