Awesome stuff dude! Really excited to see a Banelord reboot, so shall follow with interest. I'd often ponder some kind of reboot of the Slaaneshi knights, especially in light of the Armigers arrival. Alas it'll remain a distant dream I fear, so shall have to content myself with following your work!

Really loving the old school Khorne 'martial honour' theme, so much better than blood crazed lunatics

You’ve got some great projects on the go right now!

That Angron based on the old Epic model is looking great already. That’s a real classic model to base him on. For a long time that WAS Angron. Showing my age now.

The Banelord is another classic. These are great sources of inspiration. The epic range is surprisingly big with a lot of great models that no one has tackled for 40k yet.

The king in his court is also coming along nicely. Great pose. He got a real brooding intensity.

@ Lord Commander Eidolon

Great idea for the Armiger conversions!

Very promising work on the Banelord so far, buddy -- I will admit I didn't guess it, but after you posted what it was supposed to be, I immediately found myself thinking "Yes, of course!". Personally speaking, I'd try to use Bloodthirster horns, however -- and maybe the gun inside the Titan's mout might look better if you get rid of the wider part or replace it with something else?

As for the difference in size, I wouldn't worry about that -- for anyone not in the know, it'll simply end up looking like a cool, chaotic conversion of the new, bigger Knight type. And besides, it's not the first time you've built a smaller version of an established Titan design, isn't it? ;)

Lord Commander Eidolon: Thanks bud, the idea of using the Armiger for the Slaaneshi knights is inspired, would like to see that realised one day. :tu: And yeah the martial honour is something that I can’t really understand why GW moved away from.

Krakendoomcool, thanks bud, Epic was really popular when I first discovered this hobby, it’s a game I unfortunately never got a chance to play but I always loved the Titan models. Have always wanted to replicate the Banelord in 40k and at the moment I this will be my best shot. For now anyway ;)

Kraut, I haven’t tried the Bloodthirster horns yet but they are definitely on my list of bits to experiment with. I should have also added that head was thrown together with zero cutting and was more a proof of concept. It still needs a bit of work. :tu: As for the Gorehound it breaks my heart I spent so long on it for it to be smashed the way it was but I just don’t have the time nor inclination to return to it. Maybe some day in the future when my daughters at school or something but for now the Knights are as big as I’ll go. :(

So yesterday this arrived

With work the last couple days haven’t had a whole lot of time to build the new guys but I did manage to throw the torso together to experiment with a cockpit. I was a bit disappointed to discover there’s not as much room in the there as the standard Knights. So my usual design won’t really work. I did however have a storm talon cockpit sitting so have that a shot and I think once I’ve added screens and extra gubbins it’ll work quite well. Shame there won’t be much engine detail in the big guys.

Everything is just blu tacked together at the moment but I have to head out to work now. Last nightshift tonight though so hope to get a good jump on these the next few days.

Hushrong, all in good time bud ;)

Elduderino, my Landraiders and rhinos are all glued shut but for the knights down to the expense of the kit and just the sheer scale I knew from the get go I wanted to have full cockpits inside. I’ll be really interested to see how the official GW one looks when Sir Hekhtur is released.

As for the Malignants, they’ll be put to good use ;)

Don't waste time, do you?

Just 2 little things if I may be so bold: on the rear leg, perhaps have the back toe lift up a little if you can manage it?

Would add a little to the 'striding forth' idea in the pose.

Second, is the skull a placeholder or a permanent piece now? Because as it stands it seems a little too small given the cowl of the carapace above it.

Wow, I've missed Sir Hekhtur, and they imply he comes with special weapons too! Colour me intrigued.

And good progress on your project, it looks very nice even half assembled. Always fun seeing wip shots of new kits too.

Paladin, hopefully the pose makes a bit more sense now. He’s meant to be more like he’s surveying the battle triumphantly but that won’t really show until I finish his base I think.

I did like that skull idea but have since scrapped it for something more familiar. I kept trying to get it to work but it just didn’t look aggressive enough for me.

Eldrick, just don’t tell the Mrs ;) haha

The Traitor, thanks bud, I ended up going back to the Storm Raven cockpit. :D

SystemSyn, thanks buddy. I got the Ad Mech codex for exactly that reason. Mainly so I can run some skitarri alongside the knights at some point. They’ll be counts as Dark Mech but no plans to expand on those just yet. :tu:

Here’s how Banelord is looking this evening. The horns aren’t likely to stay but I feel it needs some kind of crest/horn details. As I said above the large skull that comes with the box of skulls just didn’t feel aggressive enough for me, so I hacked up the Khorgorath bits and add them to the Bloodthirster pad and faceplate (from the Castellan) I’m a lot happier with this now.

Now that the basic build is done I can start to properly focus on detail. So I’ll be treating the armour panels in a similar way to my original Knight and the Gallant I posted a couple weeks back.

Thanks guys. I’m really happy with the head. I still haven’t decided if I’ll keep those horns or not, if I do I’ll need remove the ears from them. I still need to figure out a proper crown for King Johan as well. :tu:

Thanks bud, I do have some Bloodthirster horns left but they’ll be a bit too big I think. I’m gonna try the horns from the Soul Grinder sword that I used on the earlier mock-up of the head I think.

I could also do with some suggestions for finishing the tail?
