The Tempest Hounds

Almost done with the Rhino. Havoc launcher and pintle mount are magnetized. Run into a bit of a snag though. The top hatch I painted a dark silver color but now that it's done I'm not sure I like it. Thinking of repainting it blue so I have more room on top to paint lightning. What do you guys think? Keep it as is or repaint it blue?

Hey guys. Finished the Rhino. Took my time with lightning this time, I think it turned out well. Also as requested I'm posting what I have painted so far: my Night Lords, daemons they summon to turn the tide of battle in their favor and a few traitor guar-cultists I mean! The daemons don't look very good as I speed painted them. Anyway, I still have a ton of stuff to do. Gotta go back n highlight 2nd claw and the dread, in addition to redoing their lightning. Also have to paint all the terminator arms (and there's tons of different arms since they're all magnetized). Just got the DV box too, the chosen will be painted as a small group of allied Beasts of Annihilation. Not sure what to do with the Hellbrute as I don't want one with a multimelta and I've already got one with an autocannon.... maybe convert it to a lascannon? Ugh. Anyone have any ideas? Also I know they're bright for Night Lords but that will be added into the fluff as an explanation at some point so stay tuned.

Anyway onto the pics. First up, First Claw's finished rhino.

Next up, First Claw redone with new lightning/highlights.

C&C welcome as always.

Thanks guys. I really like the way the lightning turned out on the rhino.

Kol - Yeah he looks alot better now than he did before I think. Still I'm really not satisfied with the lightning on his legs.....may go back and redo that part later. Any progress on your guys?

Ven - Once again man good to have you back. Thanks, its pretty easy to see the difference too in these pictures. Just looking at Second Claw's lightning compared to the rhino, first claw or the terminators its a huge difference!

Circus Nurgling - I agree and thanks!

Finished updating all the old models that were worth highlights. Got some new shoulderpads for the Atramentar and finished painting probably their most common loadout. Will be adding a 3 more marines to Second Claw next followed by 3-4 new ones for First Claw. Got the new Raptor/Warp Talon kit so I'll be kitbashing parts from them. Also redid some parts of Zaraknyel. Added grey highlights and redid his scythe arm with one from the DV box. Only thing I'm unhappy about with him is his boots. Some parts of him like the bone on his shield and bone parts on his shoulder are still sorta :) but without messing them up further they'll probably stay as they are. Onto pictures.

First up new and improved Zaraknyel the Fallen sorceror. I really do like how he's turned out despite his old flaws.

Termies, I think they are a vast improvement from where they were at before. These first two are my favorites.

Second Claw with highlights. They're a bit darker than First Claw but the lighter their armor the higher up in status they are in the warband.

And then the Dread at the end.

Conversion done, just waiting for November to start painting. It's yet another dreadnought. Have the DV box so I'll be using parts from it for conversions n stuff. Crappy pictures but there's not too much done yet, just assembly and a bit of conversion with a new head and replacing the MM with a TL lascannon.

Painting WIP for the Call of Chaos. This guy has been fun so far, having a bit of trouble with the armor plates under the arms (especially the one on the thigh underneath the gun arm). Anyway will have another update soon. Any C&C so far?

http://i1094.photobucket.com/albums/i458/Garvi_Loken/upload.jpg

I can tell you are trying a lot of different techniques here which is awsome to see play out. I think this Hellbrute has the potential to be special, the smooth blending you used on Zaraknyel's weapon (in a different color of course) is a perfect high contrast way to do his deamon flesh. Also, the the models above that in my opinion look the best are the Second Claw and the lower half of those terminators. Took me a second to figure out why, it's the banding on the armor, the way you highlight blue within the banding really stands out and the Hellbrute is all about banding! Looking forward to the update and good luck.

Almost finished with the Hellbrute. Mostly everything done except for the flesh. Tried a grey highlight for the flesh and washed it with black but I don't like it. I'm probably going to go with what you said Ven and try a dark red for the flesh. Anyway pictures, C&C please!

Well I'd say black skin seems to be nice, it just needs more work - development, so say. Although I may be very subjective on this point, 'cause I'm figuring out how to paint black skin for my own daemon model.

And nice lightnings, btw :D ).

Speaking of dark red - it may also look nice, more 'classic' for NLs, I guess.

Ven, define development. :) I think I'm done with him. The backside doesn't look too bad, wish there was more to do on the front with it though. Probably should've done this as one of the first parts. Oh well. Think it's dark red enough?

Yeah I get what you mean, just not sure how to implement it on the model's back. :) Next project will be 3rd claw, any guesses what they'll be? Not much work done yet, painting them all at the same time is a little daunting to me compared to one at a time. Crappy pics but it's more a placeholder for the CoC than anything else.
