Clever Girl... - Wink Wink, Nudge Nudge

Greyall

Recommended Posts

A new challenger appears. Our dear Dark Apostle Thirst asked me to depict two of his characters having an argument. To be specific, he asked me to draw Khornate Chaos Lord Vaskar holding his subordinate Ahre by the neck after putting him to sleep with a headbutt. He recounts that beautiful tale here

Something like this:

Hope you like it, Thirst. It should've been ready much sooner, but I had to start over since the first version was giving me the inner pukes.

Now, an announcement. I'll be starting a new series on Champions of the Heresy, both loyalists and traitors. That means no more requests for a while, I have little time for drawing and want to put my ideas on paper. Now, brother Basswave has a pending request, which will be incorporated in this series, but not immediately - Hope that's fine with you, mate.

Cheeers, all, hope you like this.

That drawing is ace as always :tu: Kinda weird seeing an astartes dangling so helplessly :cuss

My request being pushed back a bit is fine by me. I always considered Godfried as my clan's champion anyway, so he'll fit right in ;)

Damn. Anybody that can headbutt an Astartes helm and crack it with bare flesh is someone I'm not :cuss ing with.

Nice job, bro.

It reminds me of (a far more Grim Dark™ version of course) the bit in Scott Pilgrim when he head butts his opponent so hard he bursts.....

Of course if that did happen in this case, the body should perhaps burst into mini eight pointed stars or skull emblems rather than coins ;)

Another great picture Greyall! :tu:

Double post :woot: But.. What kind of champions are you talking about?

Perhaps Marines such as Bjorn, Kor Phaeron, Ahriman, Garro?

Would be very interesting to see in any case! ^_^

Exactamundo, mate. I'll be drawing both existing and made up characters. For instance, I plan to draw Sorot Tchure for the Word Bearers. He's got an awesome name, even though it sounds a bit like 'churro', but meh. =)

The first one is underway.

I do like the idea here, and I love Vaskar. However, is it just me or should Ahre's legs be about a quarter length shorter to match up with his torso? I'm not sure if his legs are supposed to be closer to the viewer and therefore appear larger, since to my eye the torso does not follow that same line.

I'm running out of descriptive words for your artwork!

The only thing I would say (and I'm really nitpicking here!) is that the shoulderpad on the arm holding Ahre looks slightly asymmetrical, but it is a fantastic piece of work as per usual!

The "Headbutt of Death" telescoped Ahre's spine, leaving him forever half Astartes, half Oompa-Loompa.

His shame is eternal.

:P

Ahre really didn't have to worry about his shame for much longer...

In some ways, this is so much how I pictured Vaskar. I'm just getting used to finding the other ways in which you improved on him :P

Thanks, y'all, and especially you, Thirst - as the creator of these fine gentlemen (yes, including the one with bits of ceramite inside his face). It was an honour to draw both of them, as well as a true challenge. And hey, if I might be so proud, Vaskar's roar isn't bad =)

Ladies and gents, the first Champion of the Heresy, everyone's sabretooth-hunting, heretic-splattering great-uncle...

Arslan Namdai

"Every librarium-borne swordsman will tell you the greatest warriors make their weapons an extension of themselves...Yet they arm themselves with unyieldy, statuesque slabs of metal or mauls whose main purpose is to be better at killing than all the other banner standards in the Legion's relicarium".

As ever, the answer is to be found in our instincts. For if my very blood burns for me to vanquish every traitor of Man with my hands and finish their life with the purest contempt, then those shall be my weapons."

Arslan Namdai, The Granite Lion, The Khan's Scribe

My first character in the Champions of the Heresy series, a grizzled White Scar veteran.

The powerfist is called The Paw, in keeping with Arslan's leonine theme ('Arslan' is mongolian for 'Lion'). I also tried to make the fingers look like thunderbolts.

Namdai's other weapon is the Spiteful Gaze, a ceremonial blade used in the sacrifice of deserters and dishonored warriors. It is not a power weapon, but its blade is made of an extremely dense metal, which means that, even against power-armoured opponents, it excels in its duty: delivering pulverizing finishing blows.

Loved drawing this guy, certainly one of my best and favourite works. Hope you like him, guys. Next time we meet...dragons!

Actually, 'librarium-borne swordsmen' is a snide comment, directed at Legions like the Ultramarines, the Imperial Fists and the Dark Angels, the typical brunt view you'd expect from the White Scars, who see the world and the battlefield as the true places of learning for a warrior. On a bigger scope, it means the champions of those and other so-called 'refined' Legions spend too much time reading instead of practicing, as well as adulterating their fighting style by sticking to others' teachings instead of going with their instincts and abilities.

When I wrote this, I meant librarium as a Legion's archive of lore and teachings. I actually forgot the Librarium was connected to the Librarians...which does trouble me a bit...=p

Thanks for the comments, guys =) Next Champion to be started later tonight.
