Akan's Reavers

I was going to have a crown on Akan, but I'm afraid it might look a bit 'dorky' on him. Perhaps hanging from a belt?

As for the flags, yeah, I've gone through those ones on Wiki, but I really want to let the squads pitch their ideas and decide. I know Noctus and I have talked during a game of Space Marine about how he's doing his flag, but he's still having computer troubles right now. Haven't heard from Biaz in a while.

@Peacekeeper: Have you gotten my PM's man?

@Saa: Really? What an interesting name, what's the origin if you don't mind me asking? I promise I will do my damnedest to do your character justice, my greenstuff skills have improved remarkibly since the ol' days, lol.

On a side note, it's -14 degrees F here in the afternoon right now....

On the other hand, Traitor's Reprieve does sound cool too.

This gets my vote. While it might have a tone of 'asking' to it, I presume the cannon fodder lives/slaves here too? I'd say it could work nicely for them...

"Hey, want a rest from the bored drudgery of endless slaughter? Come to Traitor's Reprieve and slave away at our foundrys! You'll never get bored!"

Or something. We're working together very nicely for a Chaos Space Marine warband, really. Abby should be asking Akan for tips on how to get people to work together.

Win!! That made me laugh though it's reflecting the current codex of Happy Chaos Family lol.

@1000Heathens: My mother was a hippie. She used to have a friend in NZ who thought the name was cool and she stole it. Only police and bank managers call me Sarazin though lol

@Zincite: Yes sir, many mortal pirates, bandits and assorted scum will be using our docks, and our own mortal armies will be recruited from them; funny enough, on a voluntary basis. "Want to make some cash, and burn a few Imperial Ships and cities? We want YOU...in Akan's Reavers!!!" lol. Those who fight under our flags will earn a cut of the riches, just like the pirates of old, because nothing motivates like greed and money. A small hardcore elite will guide these fleabags (enforcers), executing those who disobey our orders, and the mortals will have a leader....a daughter of the sunless world.... :o . I don't want to say more though, not trying to risk getting this thread stomped on due to talking about non-PA stuff.

@Saa: Your mom too? lol. Same here, man. My mom is in her mid-fifties and still rides her Harley and bar-hops, lol.

If anybody has any questions about our non-PA elements, I'd be glad to answer any and all questions...just PM me your questions so this thread doesn't get throat-punched please, lol.

Edit: After reviewing various different forums (and running into quite a few weird/bad ones...Boot Camp has to be the most confusing IG forum in existence!), I decided that the 'Mortal' side of the army will probably be posted on DakkaDakka, due to the site being generally open to whatever minis you got, and because they have their own albums you can load pics to for personal use, like the B & C. I'll post the link as soon as I get an account and set up a WIP page there.

Hellstorm Harbour it is....

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

As Akan and his party neared the doorway leading into the command deck, the first thing that struck him was how decrepit everything seemed aboard Hellstorm Harbour. The deck grilles were rusted through in places, filthy water leaked from every pipe, and the recycled air tasted of mold and old corpses. The current occupants, a warband of various renegades led by the aging Mariic Kwol, had let the port rot into such a state of disrepair that it amazed Akan that the hull was even capable of holding oxygen. The Last Laugh had to make three different docking attempts, as the first two docking yards had been unable to support the old Strike Crusiers' inertia-born weight, and had crumbled upon contact with the hull. Hellstorm Harbour used to be the terror of the Endemiyon Cluster, the Fell Star of the Badab System....now it was a sad, useless wreck. Mariic hadn't even bothered to conduct a raid into Imperial Space in well over a Terran year. The old man had shown weakness, and a lack of heart. 'Utterly pathetic', Akan thought, scowling.

Worse yet, the fool had ceased his tithes to Lord Huron Blackheart, leading the Tyrant to offer control of the port to the highest bidder. Akan hadn't bothered bidding, instead slaughtering any whom dared to, right in front of the Lord of the Maelstrom. After the death of the third claimant, no others stepped forward. Akan was unsure if he had chosen the right action, until Huron had begun clapping, an amused smile on his butchered, nerveless face. Akan left New Badab that day, his entire fleet of Reavers ready to take their new home by force. He planned to make the Harbour a byword for fear and terror again, as it had been in it's glory days, as well as expanding his own personal empire and becoming rich beyond measure. But before that could be done, the current occupants needed to be evicted.

Maximillian DeWitt walked at the rear of the group, the mostly-bionic former Son of Medusa mumbling random corrupt scrapcode and bastardized Low Gothic as he surveyed the decks, annotating various critical systems that were close to failure and were desperately needing repair. A pair of servo-skulls made from the bones of xenos floated over his shoulderplate, recording the contaminated speech emitted from his voxcasters. Champion Korovius was to his left, his stride sure and as elegant as a Post-Human in full war-plate could manage. Various rich silks and a king's ransom worth of jewels were imbedded into his gorgeous, custom made plate, and his hand rested upon the hilt of an exquisite Power Rapier of unknown manufacture. His perfect face though, was set in a bored scowl.

“Must we conduct this tedious affair in such a civilized manner?”, he said with an exaggerated flourish. “We could easily overpower these impuissant wretches in a matter of minutes, Akan.” Korovious jutted his lip into a pout, acting uncomfortably like a spoiled juvenile. “Such a waste of time.”

The blue and white monstrosity striding next to Akan growled black blood through the unnatural teeth that had grown over the vox-grille of his horned helm. Champion Callor was a horror of fused meat and cracked ceramite, the gifts given to him by the Gods having turned him into something more approaching a Daemon than an Astartes in appearance. He raised his mutated Power Fist, and cracked the knuckles of the titanic flesh claw. “Silence, you fop! I swear by the Gods that I will tear your spine out through your chest if....”

“Enough! Both of you morons be silent. We have work to do. Plus, damaging my ship with needless fighting because you are bored is not happening, Korovius, so hold your tongue for a change.” Akan turned to the last of the group as the two Champions stared knifes at each other. “Enforcer Ciardha, what's the report from the Black Masks?” The mortal female touched a microbead in her ear under her long, black hair with fingers the color of pure white marble. She listened for a second to the vox casts coming from her subordinate Enforcers, then turned her pitch black eyes to Akan. “The Black Masks are all in position, lord. No sign that they have been detected. Ready to move on your word.” Akan smiled behind his battered Mk. IV helm 'Ready indeed', he thought. The Black Masks were mortals that Akan had trained personally, and specialized in silencing targets before they even knew the Masks were among them. He knew that there would be no survivors when the time came.

“Good.” He nodded to Ciardha, the only mortal he had ever considered to be an equal in mindset. In response, she adjusted her battered and cobbled together carapace armour, and loosened the Power Gladius at her back. As she racked the slide of her autopistol, she spoke to Akan in the soft, lethal whisper that was the language of her dead homeworld. “Veshi il rahir es, shahui mahsha?” 'Will they know fear before their last breath?' Akan chuckled heartily. Nostromian was such an elegant and poetic language... he was honoured that Ciardha had taught it to him years ago.

He answered her in more common Low Gothic as the bridge's blast door ground back on filthy tracks. “Only one way to find out...”

To be continued...

By the Gods this travels fast! :P

I'm not at all ashamed to admit that the last week and a half has been spent in the land of Skyrim, and this is really the first time I've checked up on here (or anywhere) since then.

Dammit Heathens if this isn't the greatest thread on this forum, and I love that story! Judging from the way Callors turning out I'd say- for his personal heraldry- replace the crown with horns and change one of his hands into an enlarged talon, representing his powerfist. Of course, combine this with everyone else's suggestions till the banner sits right with you, this is merely my little input :P

Same. Although I could only cram it into the weekend.

Seconded! :tu:

@1000heathens I can't wait for the next installments. That story has me on tentaclehooks. Hehe, my poor, poor attempt at humour...

Oh 1000Heathens, even though I try to follow this thread as closely as possible, only now have I realized that my little character Kyres has gotten a special role within your army! Thanks for that one, really :P As I did not give him much personality to be honest, I would have never expected this! A thousand innocent souls shall be sacrificed in your name :Elite:

Glad all you guys are liking it so far! I really wanted to breathe some life into our warband, and being mostly renegades and traitors without a true purpose beyond pursuing their own personal goals, I felt that some infighting would be expected. What did you guys think of the leader of the Enforcers? I thought that an escaped Nostromian slave who'd found a path in life would be kinda fun to write about, plus you rarely ever see a Nostromian female. I thought it'd be pretty gnarly. (this character was demanded by my wife, by the way, lol. She isn't going anywhere, lest I sleep on the couch of shame...)

@Eerie: Oh, Kyres will have a further role in the next story, brother. You see, the Icon Bearers, when not bearing icons, are the squad team leaders. Please note that Korovius and Callor are on the bridge with Akan....heh heh heh...

I like the idea of Ciardha. A female Nostraman warleader is an awesome idea, especially cause women just don't feature enough in 40k, and this breaks up the male monotony. The only thing i noticed is Akan seems to value her more than his Astarte lieutenants. But thats fine with me, megalomaniac mass murders tend to have those quirks

Wow this has taken off! I go play skyrim for a few days and bam- this thread somehow becomes even more awesome!!!

Good fic 1000heathens. Ciardha is very cool, so many marine stories are sausage-fests already. ^_^

Can't wait to see how this yarn plays out . . .

Although it wasn't my intent to present Ciardha as more valuble than the Astartes within the warband, I'll have to redress that issue in the next short story. I see her as quite valuble, as she will act as an intermediary / liason between the mortal armies and Akan (and as his iron fist should they run), but no more important than Korovius, Callor or any other member of the warband. Those who fight with courage under the Black Flag recieve equal treatment (and a share of the stolen goods in relation to their actions, thus why the Astartes recieve a larger share), and those who act like cowards are treated in an equal fashion as well a.k.a. bolt round to the head, heh heh. I guess the only difference between Ciardha and any other warrior in the Reavers is that Akan and her are actually friends (or as close to as possible amongst Traitorous filth) and have been in each others company longer than any other; whereas Korovius will eventually try to kill him, Callor will eventually ascend to Daemonhood / Spawndom (depending on how fickle the Gods are feeling, lol), and most of the rest of the Warband will eventually part ways with the Reavers to pursue their own goals one day.

Thank you for noticing that though, man. I really appreciate that, and I'll make sure to correct any favoritism in the future.

and those who act like cowards are treated in an equal fashion as well a.k.a. bolt round to the head, heh heh.

Should I not be expecting long for Thorn then, given his title lol. (note he's not actually a coward, he will fight and try and get himself scared again, it just heals so he looks like one lol).

This is seriously awesome thread once again. Can't wait to see the next installment of the fic, perks me up in the morning before i start my silly 14 hr shifts.

I get the feeling Renatus might be used as a meatshield so he can live up to his name of Mayhem Mantis..

You're in my squad buddy, so trust me, meat shield is the least of your worries. Korovius would have you take a bolt round for him so his perfect polisher armor doesn't get a scratch. It's a sacrifice he's willing to make for you :D

(this character was demanded by my wife, by the way, lol. She isn't going anywhere, lest I sleep on the couch of shame...)

I laughed. Somebody has watched UP by the sound of it... :)

With my other writing things currently finished, I'll see if I can finish off Zython's piece. Maybe this time I can manage to blind you with it.
