There from the Lizermen Template guard set.  They where inspired by this unit of Salamander Sternguard from the Warhammer 40,000 open day event that Warhammer World back in October.  As well as the background for Forgefane (see below)

Warsmith Kolvax was commander of a Grand Company of Iron Warriors based upon the millennia-old fortress world of Forgefane. His personal citadel was called Ironblood Citadel and was said to have rivaled Perturabo's own fortress.

During the invasion of Forgefane by Hive Fleet Leviathan, Warsmith Kolvax arrogantly declared that he would single-handedly defeat a Trygon they had named Tremorbeast. He was eaten whole by Tremorbeast shortly before it breached the defences of Ironblood Citadel and the fall of Forgefane.

 

 

I like seen this stuff & why it really great we've seen things like Night Lord Terror squad helmet from Forge World.  Just I can't sculpt & having part to use for conversion really help out.  Just when you see art work during the years or even movies like the Hobbit Battle of Five armies or Willow (general of the evil army with the skull helmet) all armour design.

This is photo my friend took of our game during the week there.  They wanted a game vs unbound Dreadnought list with there Orks.  So 12x Dreadnought, with formation & diffrent Dreadnought units from Armour 13 Lost & the Damned.  The Maulerfiend to help with points - 1850pts & just try them out bit more in games.

Models still waiting to get varnish.  Just when I got the above model varnish, some of the base went a little bit funny - thankful just repaint over them.  Just due to the weather/tempreture still been a bit rubbish.  It is getting little frustrating as it almost been a month that all these models been waiting to get re-varnish help with all the re-base/sand & tuft grass.  Also re-apply the Games Workshop water effect once that all done.

Also just pick the Necromunda Pit Slave model up on ebay.  He going to be kept to one side as Champion for my Close Combat unit of Cultist.  Pretty much I'm waiting/hoping Necromunda get re-release & we see plastic or that least new models for the Pit Slaves.  I'll also be aim to use other Necromunda models when/if there release for the Renegade list from Lost & the Damned & general my Chaos Guard force.

Also - Forgefane squad do have there Rhino built.  I just need to try & add the extra armour plate from plasticard along with trophies.  So aim to try get that done during today that some point.

Another very impressive update! Your output is astonishing, as usual! I especially like the new Dread and the squad of Fallen. Regarding the jugger lord, I think the jugger's head might need a bit more definition -- have you considered painting the armour plate on the head in the IW chevron design? I think that would make it pop a bit more and break up the huge areas of silver a bit.

 

Oh, and congratulations on bagging that pitslave champ -- those were the days, eh? ;)

Mange to get the Rhino ready for the Forgefane unit, apart from the top hatch & crew.  So this will get painted on Wed.  Saw the ladder/terrain & though might been good as somthing to use/duck board for trenchies?  Along with any city fight.

While looking though a few White Dwarfs.  I've been re-reading Pete Haines article on how his own Iron Warrior force came about during 2nd ed, to 3rd ed.  How the army use to belong to Andy Chamber as well.

Also during the Warhammer World grand open in May I spent some time talking to Phil Kelly about both our Chaos armies & conversion idea.  Phil suggested to me about possible converting up the Mechanicus Servitor models as havocs for my Iron Warriors, see some of Honosu short stories.  So somthing that I'll try get around convert up in the future, possible ETL or Call of Chaos this year?

Also a quick hobby tip.

 

So looking out side yesterday during the day.  I though it look alright to try get some varnish done to the rebase Iron Warriors models.  After a few weeks waiting due to storms, heavy rain, low tempreture (sp) & during last week snow.  So it not been the best & yesterday............well seem it was not the day/change/time.

 

It result in my two Havoc units - Launcher & Autocannon units that where both built & painted around 2012 as part of Call of Chaos.  Both units suffer with the varnish going all frost.  Both unit Champion taken on the worst of this............. needless to say I went into a panic phase.  Models I've really enjoy building & painting, lot went into them.

 

But found out I could sort my models.  Few friends suggested to use olive oil on the parts where the varnish was that it worst.  But none them use it them selfs, just read about it.  So give it try, pretty much

 

• Use paint brush & put olive oil onto the model where the varnish has went funny/front/worst.
• I left this for 30 min, on facebook few people said they've left it for 24 hours.  It just let it set in.
• Then remove the olive oil, I'd use little bit of fairy washing up liquid mix with water.  Just use paint brush again & also dab the water on with paper towl & then wipe off the water with the paper towl.

Then models are back as good as new.

 

So the Champion blow was the worst effected, with about 75% been frost over.  So shoulder pad, bolter, legs, armour loin cloth, face, etc....  Then this is the photo just around after the olive oil & clean the model.

So it just good to know for future referance.  This has been somthing that rarely happen from my own experince.  As said there, past few weeks have been pretty terrible with low tempreture which has also effect some glues & paints. 

It is a little frustrating & look like I'm going have to wait a few more weeks until I can varnish the finial few units or currently any new models due to the recent weather reports.

 

I'll get water effect added onto the Havoc units, as well as the two Warpsmith.  Then they can join the ranks once more on display/shelfs.

Just spent today painting the Forgefane Rhino today.  Still a lot more painting & then varnish (weather permitting) followed by weather powder.
I'm hoping to try build up the crew w/combi bolter.  I'm not quite sure what I want to do with the top hatch icon wise, I've seen a cool IW Rhino that use the banner from the transfer sheet.  But also going to look that the venrable dreadnought kit for idea as it has a Nid icon with sword, think base on the Ultramarine 3rd Company/  Just with this been there theme with the Nids?

Rebase - So here the two Havocs units that suffer a bit of a problem with the weather & varnish.  But since then have been fix & back into the ranks of the 5th Grand Company.  Same with the two Warpsmith as well who where getting varnish same time.

Warpsmith rebase to 32mm base.  One to the right was painted back in March 2013 thanks to a free £10 gift voucher due to a mess up & delay to a important order for me.  Pick up the Forge World Tech Marine model with that during Throne of Skulls March.

One to left was done near the end 2013? as part of Call of Chaos & inspired by the computer game RYSE of Rome - Damocles (?) a Roman soldier of vengance who wear black armour & death mask.

Pretty much can not see past 32mm base for Power Armour models.  There really great & just sort of image/vision/differance it seem to have made to all my models that have been rebase to them.  Just need to get around & rebase my Space Wolves to 32mm some point this year.

 

Also ended up buying my fifth Knight from my local Games Workshop store today.  It going to be the close combat version when I use the Knight codex in games as part of a 1850pt list.  I've got some idea, it just lock down on those finial parts.  But I'm looking forward to it.

As said always like the Knight model since there release.  There real fun to build & paint.  With that done, focuse is Throne of Skulls March & also get my Dark Mechanicus force push forward.

Fifth Chaos Knight.  I was hoping to get some time to get the model built.  But ended up with a headache due to it been a but to clammy/hot.  While it not to bad/going away, the headache still that the stage it could return.  So not wanting to risk it.
I'm going to try get some time tomorrow get the Knight built.  The Battle Trolls from the Hobbit Battle of the Five armies are helping with idea toward this.

 

I bought the Ogre kit yesterday to help with the conversion.

Update

 

I've been spending the past few days building up my 5th Chaos Knight.  Combat version for my stand alone Knight force, which I should hopeful have a game arrange next week vs my friend army of Knights.

 

Battle damage will be added to the model once I've added transfer.  I'm going to add a few trophies, mange to get a few Eldar bits from friends - That will be base on my friend Eldar army I battle against back in 2008 & show in past update that where painted in a bone/white colour scheme & all on jet bikes.

I'm also wanting to add ether a Marine or Chaos Marine.  It will ether be

So as said just a few parts to get sorted on the Knight model before painting the model.  I've really enjoy building & painting the Knight models, there one of the best kits & just look cool.

 

I'm also hoping to get the Combi Bolter/IW crew & Hatch doors sorted for the Forgefane unit during the weekend as well.  Also found a few parts to convert up a single Raptor Battle Brother who'll be added to the unit I built just last year after ETL & he will get built during the weekend as well.

 

On top that.  After rebase my Iron Warriors to 32mm base & just a few models left to get finish (varnish).  I'm going to be doing the same to my Space Wolves force soon, possible this weekend after buying 40 32mm base recently.  32mm base are just cool & I can't see past them for Power Armour models.

First up, today seen the start of the Horus Heresy weekender down in Nottingham & this has been one of the models preview from Forge World................

 

Needless to say I will be adding him to my Iron Warriors force to go along side my Primarch, the Lord of Iron.  I'd like to try get 9 of these models built & painted.  But I will add a few & also look that maybe one more kit for another Dreadnought conversion if it all scale/fit the idea I have.

Just got to wait & see what happen tomorrow.  I'm really, really hoping for Tyrant Siege terminators to be preview & Iron Havocs.  Any of these models will see them converted up for my Chaos era force.

Just spent today painting the base for these five models.  I'd forgotten about getting the painting done to this unit when I was getting everything finish up for the rebase.  Just need to add Tuft grass to them tomorrow & the weather been little bit better so try get them varnish along with the 15 other Iron Warriors.

The unit was built & painted for Rapid Fire 2013, useing Iron Hands part when they where pre-release that Games Day.

I've just got a Sorcerer useing Erebus & Cypher to rebase.  I'm unsure what I'll do with Erebus with the FW base part for the 25mm & if it will still be ok on the 32mm along with sand.

While Cypher I'll need to make a brand new base.  I don't seem to have a base spare from the Dark Angel Chaplain model, but I might look into useing one of the Assassin base, maybe the Vidicator Assassin's base for Cypher new base.

Quickly built the Raptor during the weekend to add to the unit I built up last year.  Want to bulk the unit to 10 models.  So getting him painted today along side a few Space Wolves.

Update

 

After a few day recovering from really great Parkway Drive gig in Glasgow.  I've been spending today painting up two more Raptors Battle Brother to my current unit.

I've never been keen on the Raptors models in the past & always refuse to add them to any of my own Chaos armies.  But since the plastic once where release & useing a lot of them for parts.  I needed to add a unit of them to my army because they just look cool.  Also been really inspired (see below) by the Warhammer World display of Chaos vs Ultramarines, which is why I've been adding the flying stand to the models in this unit.

I've just got to get around & add two more models in the near future.

I just need to get some FW Iron Warrior shoulder pads.  Just lot going on right now.

The Knight almost there.  My Forge World order arrive last week with the brass etching & trophie from the Renegade icon/assault kits.  It just the base I want to get sorted.  I was hoping one my friends had some of the base stuff from the updated Assault Marine box set (see my Raptors) but they've use the Vanguard model for there assault unit.

Though they do have left over Marine parts I'm planning on useing for the trophie to add to this Knight.  Still unsure what Chapter or Legion I should base them on?

 

I've got a bag with lot of ruin building parts another friend give me a while back after making lot terrain for them self.  So see what I can sort from that.

 

Just I'd like to get the Knight painted soon, prefer by this weekend or that least next week.

With Throne of Skulls happing soon.  I've just order a set of Son's of Horus Justerian models to convert up.  Just I was gutted not to see the Siege tyrant preview that the Horus Heresy weekender that the start of this month.

With no idea when they'd be release :(  I'm choseing to use the Justerian, I'll also be useing the shields from the Chaos Knight release in Age of Sigmar back in Decemeber to help add in the Siege theme to this unit.  Also got my bitz box order today to help out with a few trophies & parts to convert up a Autocannon arm Terminator for Lord Narach unit of Terminators bodyguards.

 

I'll still buy the Siege Tyrant when there release.

There from that Khorne monster in the Age of Sigmar box game.  Just cut a little bit of the Knight wire that the mask to fit them into place.

 

Thousand Eyes - He just been base a few hour ago.  He should be ok to get undercoated first thing tomorrow followed by leadbelcher spray help speed up that side.  I've still just got to work out the Marine chapter or Chaos Legion trophie, really unsure what to do.  Part me wanting to make the model into a member of the Novamarine Chapter.........might do that as the bone colour should be pretty cool.  As always all trophies are base on my friends & oppents who I've had really great games against, armies.

Been spending a bit time this afternoon getting the basecoat painted onto the fifth Chaos Knight.  Hopeful get bit spare time tomorrow & get the shade painted into the red armour & get the chevron painted onto the hull.

 

Just planning what icon I want to add onto the knight.  I'd like to possible add a Khorne icon like the Chaos Rhino inspired by the Warhammer World Chaos vs Ultramarine display & on the Khorne Rhino I painted during Call of Chaos vows.

Its funny that in the days of old White Dwarf I can recall seeing your army in its magnificent glory, then to see it being worked on ever since...its really inspirational. Thanks for the comment Rangaman.  You know it was just three year ago on the 14th Feb when I travel to Nottingham to drop off my Iron Warriors force.  Really grateful for the help & support from the whole White Dwarf team & for taken the time. 

 

Quick update

 

I've been spend a hour here & there since the weekend up to today painting away on the fifth Chaos Knight.  Aim to try get the new Chaos Knight finish by the weekend of all goes to plan.

Just pick up my Forge World order today.  I was hoping the Siege Tyrant terminators would be preview that the Horus Heresy weekend but it didn't happen.  I'll still get the Siege Tyrant Terminators as soon as the models are release.  Just I was hoping they'd be release by now & I could use them as part of my Iron Warrior Terminator force for Throne of Skulls.

 

I've went with the Son's of Horus Justerian Terminators.  There really cool models & just for the sub theme I like adding to my units to help tell there history.

I'm also use the shield from Archaon & the Chosen Chaos Knight that where also release that the same time.  I'm wanting this unit to be a Siege Breacher version of Terminator.

I've just got to add trophies, which will get added during the weekend.  Then get the whole unit painted during next week.
