Update

 

Yesterday was spent taken part in a single day event that Aberdeen.  After getting my Knights finish for Throne of Skulls & then recently getting the first Knight I bought two year ago updated, I though I'd use the event to try out the army & just give me a deadline to get the the update finish.

 

Was a really good day with three great games.  Battle Necrons, Blood Angels & Tau.  One epic moment was against Blood Angels when a lone Stern Guard made a last stand for four turns?  Making about 5 cover save & over 30 armour saves when my Knight fire there Heavy Stubber weapons.  My Knight force picking up best army, there lot really cool armies from the Blood Angels force I fought, belive they pick up best HQ model for there really cool Terminator Captain.  Then there my friend with Tau won best super monster (?) for the Forge World Tau titan.  Another friend pick up best tank for there Eldar force.  Just name a few.

 

So I think my next few events are

• My local wargaming club just annouce first 40k doubles event in a few month time.  I'm going try talk to one my friends who collect Daemonkin (though ally a Sorcerer with them booo...! heresy!!, though they do have cool background & army + Sorcerer model really cool).
• I've got another double event in Aberdeen later on in the year.  I enjoy going last year & was a good way spend my birthday.
• Both DWARF 40k event in Aug, then there charity event Winter War near the end/good way to end the year.
• My gaming club usely tournament Rapid Fire.
• As always Throne of Skulls around Sept/Oct, just wait & see when it annouce.

But I'll not be going to any ETC or more hardcore events.  Nothing against people attend them, it just not how I want to enjoy the gaming side of the hobby & be honsty more I avoid Warp Spider spam army list right now the better.

 

I've also taken today, Easter day off & wanted to spend the day, part recover from travel side & been up from 6am, then return from the event that 8.30pm, adding into the with the clock going forward meaning we loss a hour today.

So I've spent a bit of time painting the Bloodletter, just get the yellow dots painted & apply shade to the models.  As well as getting a unit of Blood Claws started for my Space Wolves army.

 

I've just got the detail work to get painted on the Bloodletter, so that will get done on Wed.  I did try taken a close up photo of the Bloodletter that a bit more further forward on painting side, but sadily turn out a bit blurry :(

Daemon force starting.  Once I've got my Daemon force on the go, I'm aim on useing the Deamonkin codex & as said last update I'd like to start a small Daemonkin Chaos Marine force.  Theme around the Chaos vs Ultramarine display from Warhammer World.

 

I like the diffrent colour/shade of red on the models.

What I've been useing as referance.  Art work of the Bloodletter from the Space Marine computer game for the PS3.  I got the special edition for my birthday when the game was release along side with the sound track & cards.

So this week just to get the first unit of Daemons finish & I'm going to start painting highlight on the second unit during this week as well.  Little gutted the replacment part for the Kytan has not arrive yet, so I'm going phone Forge World on Tuesday to check up on this as I was hoping to have the Kytan built, spray & some shade on the model so I can have him ready for a unbound game against my friend Orks this week along side the Daemons shown in this update.

Pearson73 - It been bit wired.  In some light the Bloodletter look red, but in other lights & this case take photos they look Orange

 

Midnight - Thanks for the idea for useing them in codex Daemonkin.  I try out unbound force with the Chaos Knight & Kytan along side the Bloodletter against my friends Orks in Maelstorm.  He won by a single point, I think it ended 10v11 points.  He had his Warboss, Psychier Ork & a few Trukks & I had a single Knight left that the end.

 

Update

 

After a month of battling in events.  Seem Khorne favour my Iron Warriors with a new unit.  The replacment part arrive for my Kytan in the end, arrive on two days ago.  Just when I bought the model it had two left legs, I never notice until I was home as I had a lot other stuff sort out/focuse on during the Throne of Skulls event.

 

I've built the Kytan so it look like he just taken out a squad & is looking for his next target.  I've got Marine parts on order from bitz box which will be for the base & try talk to one my friends tomorrow see if they've got a few more spare Marine parts.  I'll need to try & see if I can also get spare Ork skull from the Ork boyz set to rep his first game.

 

It a really nice model & fun to build, a lot, lot, lot, lot better than the Storm Eagle model ever was............

 

There still bit more to add before the Kytan is ready for painting.

He will be painted up in Iron Warrior colour, like the Lord of Skulls.  Just so it that way help for the force with in my overall army/grand company so it pretty much

Daemons of Khorne -

In the future Daemonkin warband theme around a old comrade from the World Eater Legion who fought along side my Iron Warriors during the Great Crusade, Horus Heresy & support them during the Siege of Terria.  Recently fought on the battle scene/theme around the Chaos vs Ultramarine display from Warhammer World, sort of aftermath of the Lord & his Warband.  Sort of like the World Eater in Talons of Horus novel.

 

There will be a few thing for the Kytan, mainly just try out a lot of the FW Iron Warriors transfer sheet.

Been a little busy past few days.  But mange to get a little bit time toward the hobby here & there.

 

They Kytan almost there.  I just need to add few more part to the base & aim to get him ready for undercaoting by the weekend ready for painting.

Dark Mechanicus - To be honsty I forgot I had the Dragoon model to finish painting.  This is somthing I'll hopeful have finish during the weekend as well.  Right now it just been adding transfer to the model  get a idea for squad marking.

 

I want to push forward & get my Dark Mechanicus force finish before the end of this year.  I think as it stand, I need - 1x box of Servator, 5-6 boxies of Dragoon/Iron Strider for the formastion & then one more Dune Cralwer.  This might be some time, but I'd like to try get the force finish before the end of summer & ready for some games.

On another note - Recently it been shown in the Rumour part of the forum (or anywhere really) that the Black Legion supplament, along side the Crimson Slaughter supplament are both getting updated.  Seen the formastion & some of the stuff, it making me want to really try & get my Black Legion on the go again.

As said though out this log.  I started with a Black Legion force in 1996 with in a few months of starting the hobby.  Then again in 2001 before starting my Iron Warriors.

 

So right now I'm planning on

- Try get my Dark Mechanicus force finish before the end of summer

 

- Work on my Daemonkin force.  Right now it mainly aim on the Daemon side.  I'm thinking going with the formastion from Blood oath & that just need 2x boxies of Bloodletter & 2x boxies of the £50 battle force with Bloodletter, Bloodcrusher & the Skull cannons.  I've also got my Soul Grinder I'm going to re-paint from my first Daemon force.  Then later go on & add Chaos Marine & Berzerker element.

 

- Then I'd like to try & start my Black Legion force near the end of the year.  My old Black Legion force was Khorne heavy, useing lot of the Khorne Berzerker models both the clip together once from 2nd ed & then when the multi part plastic models.

It'll be Hound of Abaddon & I'm thinking trying to Chaos Possessed Formastion as it a unit I've not really use that much over the years & just somthing little diffrent from my Iron Warriors.

To the right my first conversion (some parts missing ), my Black Legion lord that was converted back in 1996.  Then the model to the left was when I update the Black Legion in 2001 just before starting my Iron Warriors for Conflict Scotland 2002.

Also Talons of Horus has made me think about collecting Black Legion again & just lot cool idea.  It a really great novel & really hope ADB get the next novel ready soon

One of the armies that I've always look to for idea during the years.  Black Legion force I saw during the old GT heats 1 in 2005 down that Warhammer World.

Then Christain Bryne (use to work for White Dwarf) Black Legion force during the old GT heat 1 in 2006.  I fought them during round 2?  Just amount of free hand art work on the models from the Slannesh unit with there Rhino transport, to a standard Black Legion trooper.

• Lord is a Veteran from the World Eater Legion
• The Warband have fought along side my Iron Warriors during the Great Crusade, Horus Heresy & the Legion Wars
• They've fought that Angelus Prime (Warhammer World display) & taken heavy loss of Legion troops.  Now link up with my Iron Warriors/oath/sort like in Talons of Horus novel.
• As said right now it mainly going to be focuse on the Daemon side right now.  Then start adding Marines once I've got a idea how I want the models to look, I want to try add few parts from the Age of Sigmar range.  Also going to check out the Bloodquest comic Black Library use to do base on Exile Blood Angels battle in the Eye of Terror.

Black Legion

• Bring back my old force in a new updated era. 
• Lord carry on the history from the orignaly one I converted up back in 1996, then 2001 version.
• Theme wise, I'd like to think Abaddon sent Black Legion warband to set Legion, Warband & renegade faction.  Ether to overwatch a important mission or to herald the start of the 13th Black Crusade.  Sort like how Space Wolves sent packs during the Horus Heresy to keep a eye out type thing.

With Black Legion - Just they where my first Chaos Marine force I collected when I started the hobby.  My reason for collect Chaos faction is the same as it was back in 1996.

I've gone back over time to collect Black Legion.  The other Lord model from 2001 before collect my Iron Warriors.  Then 2006 when I wanted to try out some cult units from the 3.5 era codex.  Then again 2007 when the Gav codex was release.

I'm looking forward to this.  As said there, the Black Legion lord I converted back 1996 is on the display shelft along side my Iron Warriors.  I'm looking forward converting up a new version of him to carry on his history & future glory in games, having them battle along side my Iron Warriors in future games.

 

Since the supplament was first brought out few year ago it has brought the Black Legion on my hobby list.  Same when reading Talon of Horus.  Was orignaly thinking getting a few squad built for Call of Chaos last year.

Same I'm still get around getting a Nids army collected & Ultramarines.

It now been 8 days painting the 20 Bloodletter models  Today been spent painting the second unit of Bloodletter.  Since the photo was taken, I've added gloss varnish to few part of the models & water effect to the base.  Just need to paint rune on to the swords.

Since then I've pick up another box of Bloodletter, along with few boxies of tuft grass & today White Dwarf.

After the photo I quickly got the Kytan undercoated & Leadbelcher spray onto the model.  So far Nuln oil & purple shades have been added.  I might get the Kytan painted during the week.

After recently commenting about starting a brand new Daemonkin force & bring back my Black Legion warband in a brand new updated version.

I rememeber I painted up a few Daemonkin Marines during last year Call of Chaos.  I think for my basic Chaos Marines in the force, I'm going to stick with this look.  With the MkIV armour plate from Horus Heresy box game & then the Forge World Khorne Berzerker upgrade.

For the Berzerker sort be same with the FW Khorne body/upgrade.  But use a bit more bitz from the Age of Sigmar Khorne range.  Iron Warriors berzerker just there get a idea as I use the Warmonger (?) models for a lot of the daemonic looking weapon on a few of them.

I like the red on the daemonkin marine. I love the way the basing ties him to your army despite the compleatly different colour scheme. Yes, just while there all seprate armies - Iron Warriors, Chaos Guards, Chaos Knight, Dark Mechanicus, Daemons/soon be Daemonkin & soon be Black Legion.  Just find it important, while each one be diffrent, as you said base help tie the whole army together & add that theme.  Also just allow me those chose between games if I want to try out few diffrent allies or maybe a one off bigger game with everything.

 

I'm really looking forward collecting Daemonkin, really enjoy painting the World Eater Marines for Call of Chaos last year & just with the release of all the cool new Age of Sigmar models.  I'm going to pick up the £50 battle force box set during the weekend just help get my Daemon Force ready for some gaming.  Also going to re-paint the Soul Grinder models I've kept from my older Daemon army from back in 2008, possible try add some of the left over parts from the two Bloodthister models I painted up during last year.

Then Black Legion, just Sept time mark 20 year of me starting the Games Workshop hobby.  As said the Black Legion where my first 40k army & what gotten me hook onto the Chaos faction & the 2nd ed codex Chaos Space Marine in general.

Same here, I've got the orignaly one I bought & I pick up another copy of White Dwarf 202 during past few years.

 

Still rememeber when I took my orignaly WD 202 to Games Day 2012 & got John Blanche to sign the copy for me.

So Forge World just annouce these great models will be pre-release that Warhammer Fest in May.  I'm going to try talk to someone I know who planning on going to this event & see if they can that least pick me up one.  Like the Lord of Iron, just want to have the Iron Circle model there, it Iron Warriors & it look cool that the main reason.

 

Also depend scale for the model, maybe use for future conversion.  One a Siege theme Dreadnought.

Just spent today painting the Kytan.  I pick up the model during Throne of Skulls March last month.  It been a model I've been meaning to add for a while.  So seen the Chaos vs Ultramarine display & then Alex version for his lava Chaos theme force.  I ended up pick the model on Saturday after round 1.

So I'm hoping

• Get transfer added to the Kytan on Friday.  Not sure what I will go with?

Then Dosjetka has just recently let me know that he pick me up a 2nd ed era Chaos Dreadnought.  So hopeful get this sorted with himself over the next few weeks & looking forward to adding the model to the ranks.  This will make it the 5th 2nd ed era metal Chaos Dreadnought.  I've always like them & why, when I found my orignaly one after moving house when I started my Iron Warriors 2001/paint strip.  It was quickly painted & added to my 5th Grand Company once more to carry on his glory & history.

Update

 

So this went up for advance order today........... & I cave in & bought Imperial Knights: Renegade, save around £90!!  Also getting the limited ed Space Marine model for free.

 

For both Knights, I'm planning

- Standard Battle Cannon version, with Mark of Khorne.  While getting ready for Throne of Skulls last month, I notice I have 5pts spare & could gotten a second Battle Cannon Knight & just seen how fun the Battle Cannon version is.

 

- Unsure version.  Rumour shown that there rule for Renegade (as well as Forge World) to use Knight with Chaos Marines.  There seem to be some diffrent set up vs a Imperial Knight version.  So I might go with 2x Battle Cannons, try get a gun platforum type theme model with my Knight force been part of my Iron Warriors & for Siege look/theme.

 

It will be a little while until I get around to building & painting the Knights as I'm going to be pretty busy over the next few weeks.  Pretty much any painting will be on models I can get built asap like Bloodletter for my Daemonkin force.

Just find this knight by Games Workshop really cool.  This was the model I use to help get idea toward my Siege Knight.  Really like all the Chaos work they studio done to the model

I was orignaly going to get a second Khorne Daemon box set, but Rengeade set sort change that.  I'm looking forward painting up the plastic Bloodcrusher, last time with my last Daemon force (2008) it was the metal version.  While cool they where night mare chipping & breaking a lot.

 

Then White Dwarf always pick up each week :D

Then the Black Legion supplament.  This was the only copy that was not advance order sent to my local store.  I'm aim on starting my Black Legion force around October?  This will mark 20 year since I started my Black Legion force with my first conversion, as shown the Lord conversion.

With Daemonkin model idea lock down.  It now sort out the Black Legion & how I want them to look.

 

Also spent a little bit time getting some more work done for the Kytan model.  Transfer where added on Friday?  First layer weather powder been added as well.
I'm going to have to wait until Wed & he should hopeful be fully painted by then.  I might get some time tomorrow try get some more weather powder added.

Thanks - I'm hoping to get the Kytan hopeful finish painted later today.  Just get trophies & Blood for the Blood god added.

• 5 Chaos Knight, with another two been added this weekend.  I was going to add another Knight with in the next few months anyway with Battle Cannon just so I could have that chose, I know Throne of Skulls I had the points to do this.
• 1 Lord of Skulls, first large model bought for the Iron Warriors.
• 1 Kytan
• The Lord of Iron himself

The Kytan is indeed looking fantastic -- the IW paintjob really gives the model a new angle: an uncaring engine of death. I particularly like the glow effect on the eyes and that delicious, hazard-striped shin armour!

It been a bit of a stressful few days recently.  But the Games Workshop, for me anyway always help from painting models or just a over a hour ago a really great game vs my friend Orks which saw us with just Warlord models on turn 5 going onto turn 6 in Maelstorm mission.

 

Here how the Kytan looking.  Just a few bit tidy up.  I think I'm going to use him in his first game - painted, next week if all goes to plan.  The kytan been a great model to build & paint.

While clean out a few boxies.  I found these Berzerker models I was given a few years ago - 1998/1999?  I think they end up join my Black Legion force back then.
Just I'm thinking of re-painting the Berzerker models & add them to my Daemonkin force.  I've got another five of these models, unbuilt/painted been sent to me, they should arrive next week.  Just always like the classic models, I use to have a lot of them in my Black Legion force, then later seen the multi part version added.

 

Just gutted one of there battle brother has gone missing.  I've also got a converted up Slannesh Rhino (2nd ed) that I'll try get photo in next update.

Again, excellent work on the Kytan! I also have a soft spot for those ancient plastic 'zerkers: They do have some very obvious shortcomings, but I still think the helmet design is one of the best berzerker helmet designs ever! And that standard bearer, even though he's a little two-dimensional, is just a classic. Looking forward to seeing your take on those models!

Metal - I usely start with this first

Leadbelcher Black Wash, Pruple wash, Black Wash, Leadbelcher (Dry Brush with tank brush), Rune Fangsteel (Dry brush w/Tank brush), black wash (not heavy/light wash) this just help & shade any part the dry brush has gotten into & highlight with Rune Fangsteel.

 

Gold

Hashut Copper, Black wash, Gehenna's Gold, leave the above in the recess of the armour, Brown wash, purple wash Auric Armour Gold: Highlight

 

Yellow

Averland Sunset, Zamesi Desert, Yriel Yellow, Sepia Wash, Abaddon Black to tidy up the lines, Flash Gitz yellow for the highlight.

 

Browns

Mournfang Brown, black wash, Mournfang brown, brown wash, Skrag Brown highlight

 

Reds

Khorne Red, Mephiston Red (depend how your wanting the red to look), brown wash, Evil Sunz Scarlet: Highlight, Wild Rider Red: Highlight. Again depend, you can add Sepia wash

 

Blues

Incubi Darkness, Sotek Green, Temple Guard Blue
