Call of Chaos update

 

Today was spend getting the finial three models painted for the Call of Chaos. As of a few hour ago, I've now completed my vows

 

 

I Insane Psychopath answer the Call of Chaos and vow to complete

For my Iron Warriors 5th Grand Company.

 

Before January 15th 2015. If I do this successfully I will receive the Mark of Postulant Glory and continue on the path to ruin. If I fail I’ll wear the Mark of the Lost and I expect no mercy on my soul!

I've enjoyed Call of Chaos & seen a lot of cool models by other memeber from this forum :D

 

Looking back - Gutted I was not able to get the servo arm sorted for my Chosen Rhino, but that somthing I can use in the future & plan out a bit better.
Maulerfiend, had to re-convert the face for the model but it got there in the end than it orignaly did.

I was useing Call of Chaos to add some new models to my Iron Warriors.

 

Next update

 

- Mayhem pack: Already talk about. Right now wanting to get the unit ready soon. Wanting to base the pack leader around Warsmith Berossus.

- Bezerker: Nod back to the Index Astarties days & Bezerker are cool. Theme wise I want them be Siege bezerker, sort like Urik hai sort of when you see them that the siege of helm's deep.

- Knight: Want to try convert a Siege theme knight. This might possible led to a Knight army for me.

- Chosen. I want to try get a really cool Stor-Bezashk theme. I did try a unit back 2013, but I feel I can push this bit further. I'm going to wait & hope Forge World release some cool Iron Warriors kits in the near future for this.

- Terminators: Again waiting to see if FW release the Tyrant Siege Terminators in the future & convert them.

- Fallen Angels: I try making a Fallen Angels army last year but that stop when codex Space Wolves where release. So I think try get the unit I've started & add them to my army as part of Cypher formation instead.

- Kill team: Pretty much add more models to my Chosen I've painted for Call of Chaos for chose in KT games.

 

- Black Legion: I would like to try get a Black Legion force started & look into having them as a ally force. Black Legion where my second 40k army when I started the hobby. With the release of the supplament & then ADB Talon of Horus novel. This might or might not happen, but I would like to.

 

There been a few other things that be added due to idea. My Iron Warriors are a long term project. There my favrout army in the 40k world & I like Chaos Marines for the same reason I started them in 1996 - conversion. Also the whole background & look to the IW :D

There will be new Dreadnought added.  I'll be spend time later today getting the second Dreadnought for my Mayhem pack converted up.  I'm possible going to look that buying the part to convert up the Champion (might not be there rule wise, just cool theme wise) during the weekend so I can start useing them in games :D

 

Black Legion - I'll work somthing out :D  As said there with Talons of Horus & the supplament, it has made me want to go back to the Chosen of Abaddon.  If I don't get anything done soon, I'll look into adding units toward Call of Chaos VIII later this year with more new Iron Warriors units :D

Update

 

Right after Call of Chaos, next unit I've been focuse on is my Mayhem formation.  After reading a bit about them on here, the Chaos area of Bolter & Chainsword.  I like the idea about the unit support my Terminators with Lord Narach & recent Sorcerer I added last month.  Looking forward to trying them out in a few games.

I've still to add trophies, but they will be done later. Ether I will be useing a Nid trophie if my friend rememeber to bring bitz for conversion I need. Or I will use the FW World Eater helmet

Getting a bit more of the Knight built just a few hour ago

 

The Knight models just really great to build & paint, I've enjoyed building & painting the two I've added to my Iron Warriors force.  This is just to give me chose when gaming.  In the near future I'll hopeful pick up another one allow me to field them as a stand alone army as well.

Hoping one of my friends will be able to pick up the model from the Horus Heresy weekender. If not, then I will have to wait until Throne of Skulls once Warhammer World finish there updates or Warhammer Fest. Ether way I think he look cool.
Not sure what unit he will led in the future. I am looking forward to seen what preview will be shown that the Heresy weekender, for me it mainly wanting to see any Iron Warriors conversion kits, Siege Terminators & my Primarch

With the base - I've added a few of the Eldar ruin from the Farseer single spure model. I though be cool to add some of this to show that the world, my Iron Warriors are battle one. Try show that it was once Eldar, then nothing, then Imperial dueing the Great Crusade up to now. It also to tie in a bit with my friend Eldar army, as he recently been getting base sorted taken idea from my own with his own take. Useing foam board for a bit more of a city ruin look.

I've shown the Eldar army a while back when I was trying work out idea for my 5th Grand Company Banner for my object marker for Emperor Will.

 

Overall for this unit. I want them to be siege like & useing the Ironclad armour plate to help this. Also wanted them to have sort of Obliterator virus (It will not die) & Machine.

I'm looking forward to useing them in there first game. Just think it pretty cool how a strike force with Lord Narach, Sorcerer (still sort name out) & Terminator bodyguard would be supported by a Mayhem pack during siege or trench warfare.

I should be ordering the rest of the unit (two more) on Friday or Monday. Got a lot idea for the base & how I want the crew to look. Then it just to buy armour 13 for the rules & use them in a few games.

Just a little quick update on the Iron Warriors

 

I've spent last week getting my third Chaos Knight all painted up & ready for a game last week.  I've just got a servo skull to add to the base.  I've also recently got the Nid trophie - Forge World Ultramarine Dreadnought banner, which I'm currently working out where I want it displayed on the Knight model.

Still to add a unit of Berzerker next. Few new unit as soon as we see some conversion pack from Forge World. Tyrant Siege terminators toward unbound force. Possible thinking converting up a Juggernaut Lord, platic model are cool & though be pretty cool inspired by Boltman conversion

I'm going make this as a mini diorama, only true way with the IF being slaughter by my Iron Warriors. Ether going to have the IW trooper re-loading a bolter after slay the IF or try get the hand w/Knife from the Sternguard kit & try make it all siege/city fight type look. Possible base this around my game vs Dave from Throne of Skulls March.

I had a lone IW with Melta vs a lone IF with a specil weapon, it was pretty cool & just that sort of image you had.

Hopeful get my Rapier Artillery unit full built by the weekend, just need to get one of the oval base.  Then next is Khorne Berserker.  Then hopeful Forge World will have some cool new Iron Warriors kits from the Horus Heresy, just holding off on a few units until there release & just to see what there like.

Also looking add another Predator, but unsure if I will go Relic Predator from Armour 13 or standard.  I'd like to get the Predator sorted soon as I've got a week off in March & like to try get a model/unit bought so I can get it built & painted during this week off.

 

Seen some really great Lord w/Bloodcrusher conversion kicking about recently that making me think of adding one.  Just again when I started Chaos, the Khorne Champion with Juggernaut a model I'll always rememeber & I did have as part of my Black Legion army in 1996.  Also saw a really great converted one for sale that a local wargaming event last year just gutted I never taken any photos of the model. 

 

Got my fifth heldrake to build with autocannon as part of a tale x game type thing a few people here are running.  Ether add on or for people start new armies.  No point limit, but don't be silly, but it is

Phase 1 - HQ, Troop & any other chose from Force Org chart - I use the Lord, Chosen & predator from Call of Chaos.

Phase 2 - HQ, Troop, Heavy Support (Rapier Artillery for myself )

Phase 3 - Elite, Fast & ally

 

So still a lot be added, as said this is a long term army.  I'll also be jump back to my Space Wolves as well as I need to get them updated with the current codex.  Adding a few new unit to my Ravenwing as well.

Update

 

I got my Rapier Weapons Battery unit fully painted & finish during the weekend there.  They've saw there first game during the week there as well, really like how the unit played in the game & just lot of idea gaming wise.  I've really enjoyed converting & painting the Rapier Weapons Battery.  Just need to get a name now for my unit.

There first game was against my friend Tau, it was orignaly meant to be Marines.  But he just recently finish the Tau army & wanted to try a few games out with them right now.  Just found the unit really cool & whole image in my head of the game/sort of like those moment from Black Library novels & background.

I though it be cool to make this hobby challenge into a mini diorama & marker for First Blood. It easy to forget a few things in games as you get to focuse. I found this help in my game vs my friend Tau, just place it on the tank that just been tank out & that the end of the game remember who'd got first blood. Same with my Sorcerer having the Familiar model on a seprate base just to remind me & always help out in games.

Right now, thanks to dosjetka.  I'm looking that making more marker for the second object.  So Line Breacker (sp?) would be a Iron Warrior storm a trench useing some of the great terrain Games Workshop sell.  Warlord, I'm still unsure what i want to do for that.

It a really cool model & was really great to build.  I have started painting the model, but have to put the Bloodthirster on hold until Wed - day off & when I usely paint my own models as well as Saturdays.

 

I think theme wise - Ether have it as being summon. My Object marker are all meant to be sacrifice to try turn the World there battleing on into a Daemonic World. So maybe somthing to do with that. Or because my armies always are more aggressive, due to amount slaughter has shown up. Or maybe because of a relice of old, it being sent to claim it in the name of Khorne?

But it needed to be added to my army.  There a hobby challenge going on between a few of us who bought the Bloodthirster during the weekend there, my challenge to try get the Bloodthirster finish for Saturday.

 

Painting wise, I will be following the painting gude over on the Games Workshop youbtube channel with Duncan painting guide.

I'm really looking forward painting the Bloodthirster & have it in my head how the model should turn out.

Also got a Forge World order place for IW armour plate.  Just if all goes to plan, I should hopeful have next week off as a holiday.  During that time I want to get a fourth predators added to my Iron Warriors.  I like the Predators tanks & just though be cool to theme this one around a command tank, seen the FW heresy book about Marine armour company.

Allow for some cool unbound games as well useing all my tanks.  Just I've always like Mech armies.  Also bring back from my army history, I'll need to try find the names I've given my Predators that where a big part of my army so they can go on in my current force & gain more honour & glory for the IV Legion :D

 

Also just really looking forward to getting a week off.

Rapid Fire 2008 or 2009?  When our list where Round 1, 1500pts, Round 2, 1750pts & then 2000pt for the finial game.  Bring back the Fallen Angels.  I use to have a Fallen Angel who was part of Warsmith Abhorred Riddick bodyguards back in 2001, inspired by the Bloodquest comic I've commented about though out this topic.  I would like to try bring him back possible as another Chaos Lord or I'll have a look that Cypher dateslate as I saw a Chosen Formation & might be cool as a Champion.

With my week off starting from today.  I've got my Predator tank I'm going to build tomorrow & Wed, aim to theme this around a command tank from what I've read on the third FW heresy book.  Though be cool to convert the Predators as the command tank for unbound games & oppent permissing for warlord traits/as the warlord in friendly games.

Also get the plasticard armour plate sorted tomorrow as well.  I'll also need to try find the names for my predators from past army list.

 

Also just place a order for Forge World.  Was meant to be just brass etching for the Predator & I've ended up adding in the World Eater upgread kit & the Night Lord Terror squad helmet from the heresy range.

 

I've said before I'm currently looking into adding a unit of Khorne Bezerker (sp?).  They where one of my main units back in the Index Astarties day.  So be cool to bring them back.
I'm wanting to try make this unit what Death Company are to Blood Angels.  There not mindless, there fear cause troops.  Sort like when we see Urik Hai Bezerker (sp) in the LotR movie.

Still trying to work out a lot of idea & hope to spend some time during my week off just to focuse & try get a test model for the unit converted once the Forge World order arrive.

I'm going to check out the Bloodquest comic which has always been great for idea.

 

Just saw the new Throne of Skulls rule pack up & it look really cool.  That 1875pts I'm looking forward & be nice to try the 1850pts list I;ve been useing past two week.  The extra 25pts help me just give a few bits of wargear to my Terminator like Chainfist, beside looking cool just help in the event I come across any Lord of Wars.

I'm also possible going to use the Rapier Weapons Battery, enjoy useing the unit in past two games & just with Forge World unit being allowed.  But that will all be down to what I can carry with me for travel down to Nottingham or I can easily swap the Rapier Weapons Battery & get a brand new unit of Terminators or Chosen ready.

 

Ether way I'm just looking forward to getting back to Warhammer World for Throne of Skulls events.

I've found the Bloodthister model to be balance on the base, glue the model with plastic glue thin.  Because I had it spate from the base while painting, just using things to help hold the model in place/supporting the model while the glue was drying.  Just make sure the area I'd need to glue to go on to the model was clean with no paint or undercoat to help the glue bond better.

 

I've had no issue & found the Bloodthirster to be a really great model to build & paint.  As soon as I saw the model & the Games Workshop painting guide video on youtube I knew I wanted to add one to my army.  Only reason I've never added one before was due to the model being metal & then little dated.  The plastic one really cool.

 

Also to say there another chose for the foot.  You don't have to put the Bloodthister on the flame like I done.  There another chose where it a smaller bit of flame it standing on.  I think the Games Workshop web site show a Bloodthister model this way as well.  I just wanted to add the flame because I though they where cool & add bit high to the model.

I've recently added a fourth Predator (theme as command/armour company), started work on a Khorne Berzerker unit & with the release of the new Mechanicus models - they needed to be added to my army.

 

I've just started to add a unit of Khorne Berzererk to my Iron Warriors force.  When I started my Iron Warriors back in 2001 under the Index Astarties rule set, it allow us to take 0-1 unit of Khorne Berzerker & they always been my main cult unit.  I use them a lot back then & in Conflict Scotland, along with Warsmith Abhorred Riddick, Sorcerer Krull, Bodyguard of Chosen with Champion Narach, my now classic Metal Chaos Dreadnought that was re-painted last year & added back into my army along with a lot of Obliterators & Chaos Marine unit & Land Raider for Warsmith Abhorred Riddick.  So I want to bring back this unit in a all new up to-date glory for my current version of my IW's force.  Also with the release of all the new Khorne, like the Warhammer Fantasy kit.  There a lot great conversion parts.

Try this out today, the Bloodletter model being the test model before it went onto the IW Berzerker. I do like useing this along with the other spray Games Workshop has release. It only been Khorne I felt was still a little tacky even a hour let it dry on the Bloodthister model & even then it would leave finger print.

 

It does come across more like Runefang steel. But as soon as you start adding the wash there not to much of a differance. I like useing leadbelcher spray. 15 min after spray this & going to check the IW Berzerker it was ready for painting. The spray cover the models really great. I had no issue & I'm going to pick up a few more.
Beyound that, as soon as they run out I've always got leadbelcher paint pots.

Mechanicus model - Just wanted to get start painting this lone Mechanicus model. Just get idea how I want the models to look. There still a LOT to get painted on the model. I'm waiting until the codex is release so I can work out some detail for the robes & squad icon. Also want to add Chaos star icon in sort of bone colour, but again just chosen how I want this to look on the model.

I'm really interested to see how your Mechanicus elements turn out as I'm also thinking about adding some of those models to my IW force. I'll probably use them to represent some of the more elite units in my R&H army that I'm working on as an allied artillery force to support my IWs.

The other photo of the Vanguard has ended up going funny. So try re-take them for next update. With the Ranger I though I keep them as they are. While the Vanguard, I've use the Dark Eldar Wrack toward the conversion.

The Ranger Sniper was added because he just look cool, it needed to be built & added. While I got the WD, to be honsty I've not really read any of there rule.

 

So tomorrow should hopeful pick up the codex & going to look that the squad marking & icon for idea.

I've just got the Champion & one more Battle Brother to build & get them painted this week.  So hopeful get both models built later on today.  I've also got there Rhino transport but I'm waiting on a few order from Forge World.  I'll hopeful get the plasticard extra armour plate made during the week as well.

 

Mechanicus - Like my Chaos Guards & Knight, seen the models I think there cool & needed to be added to my Iron Warriors.  Also one my friends where useing there Mechanicus army during the week there, seen the whole army it look cool & pretty much I'm going to try get my own force built over the next while.  I think right now I'm going for a 1850pts force.  Like the Knights & Chaos Guards, aim have them as allies & a stand alone army.

Also because of the Mechanicus release, it made me want to push forward & get my Chaos Guard army complete this year, just lot parts I want to use toward few conversion.

There still a lot to get done painting wise for this unit.  I've been going back & forward pretty much.  Spent last week painting all the icon, then yesterday while painting Berzerker, took some time to add squad number.

 

Event - I've recently went back to the Forge World event model & re-painted the flesh.  Just before I use the old way I've done it useing bronze flesh, brown ink (still got a few these).  But just didn't look right.  So re-painted it with Bugman bar glow, brown wash, purple wash, bugman bar glow again, cadain flesh, Kislev flesh, then Karak stone paint mix with medium for the highlight.

This has been a difficult model to try paint the eyes, so leave them white to sort tie him in with the background Forge World have.

With ELT happen soon.  I'm going to enter my first one.  Just in the past it came down to a lot happen during this time year for me & then July, I don't re-act well toward heat & sunny weather usely getting really bad headache or nose bleeds.  Two week ago seen me with a headache lasting 16 hour - 2pm Wed until 6am Thursday, led to me having to stop/not paint the new mechanicus models until the week later. 

While Call of Chaos, I've always taken two & a half weeks off during Christmas.

 

Right now I'm going to be building up a brand new squad of Terminators.  Part this is possible part of my Throne of Skulls army list for Sept/Oct?  It just incase I'm not able to bring the Rapier Weapons Battery unit I added to my army a while back & carry Armour 13: Lost & the Damned book due to amount stuff I'll already be carry for travel down to Nottingham & stay down there for the weekend for the event.

 

Also to use for a few local events that may not allow Forge World models.

 

I'm going to pick up a lot of the parts when I'm that Warhammer World for the open day, with the brand new Forge World store being there :D

As said there, I;m going to the Warhammer World open day & plan pick up a lot Forge World models as well as a another Iron Warriors t-shirt.

 

Also though I'd show photo of a recent game my Iron Warriors had vs my friend Daemonkin army yesterday. Game ended 6pts v 3pts for the Daemonkin in big guns never tier.
Just this was a epic moment for me when Lord Narach Delau, Sorcerer Nârik Gharrok, Herald of the 5th Grand Company with squad (Terminators) Proeliator led by Sevatar Rauth where in combat from turn 3 (oppent turn, I went first) after arrive by deep strike until finial turn 5 (due time). With just Sorcerer Nârik Gharrok being the last out of the unit to still be there & on a single wound.

 

Pretty much

- Lord Narach had slay the Daemonkin Lord in a Challenge, only for them to turn into a Bloodthirster (let them borrow my model)

- Then it was Lord Narach vs a Bloodthister in a challenge. Made over 14 Inv save, but in the end the Axe of Blind Fury had forsaken me in the last two round combat
- In combat there was

- Unit of Berzerker (left over after Combi Plasma the unit when my unit arrive by deep strike)

- Unit of Cultist

- Unit of Bloodletter

- Unit of Bloodcrusher

- Second Bloodthister who'd shown up from blood point after the photo was taken.

 

Endurance psychic power was a big help for me from Bio.

Five Mechanicus models I painted during today, just bulk out the unit of Ranger I started last month. While the other five models from the same box set will be use to add to the Vanguard unit.

Be honsty I've still to read the Mechanicus codex & plan out my army to 1850pts so I can start getting some games.

 

I've just to add Games Workshop water effect onto there base & highlight the Chaos icons. But this will have to wait for a while due to being really busy this & next weekend. While I do have Sunday off, I'm wanting to try get the Rhino for my Berzerker unit built & ready for painting next week to met deadline for a tale x gamer type thing me & a few friends are take part in. Then Warhammer World open day, when I return beside recovering, day going be spent building the models I will buy for the ETL

Also Assassin from the new box game. I'm take away the Imperial Icon. Right now I'm planning on useing my own Iron Warriors in this game, my Sorcerer, 15x Cultist & 3x Iron Warriors. Idea being add background to my Sorcerer, this is maybe the moment when he help summon Kar'Voth the Fallen to the 5th Grand Company. With the Assassin's join Chaos or slay in there mission.

Pretty much right now

 

- This weekend: Getting Berzerker Rhino built & undercaoted, paint next week.

- Next week: Build my new Terminator unit & possible HQ for ETL, pick up a lot of Forge World models from the Warhammer World open day.

- As said get the Mechanicus start, hopeful going spend time reading the codex next week & write up a army list.

Just more given me idea as I'm still wanting to push forward & get my Knight army complete. I'm hoping to pick up a Knight kit around Sept or Oct time & hopeful use the week off I have plan during one of those months to paint the model. But as said just have to wait & see. Week off in Sept led up to my birthday & then a week off Oct as a break after painting 2x 1850pts armies for two friends to use that a local tournament in October.

As said before one this to be ally to my Iron Warriors as well as a stand alone army as the Knight models are really great to build & paint. Possible get a 5th one for Call of Chaos if they are allowed?

IP, as always your models look fantastic! You've been a huge inspiration to my IW project I've got going on right now ^_^ Is there any chance you'd be willing to post a step-by-step pic/diagram tutorial on the weathering for your hazard stripes? That is the exact effect I'm looking to do on my tanks.  It looks gritty and realistic without being overkill :D
