IP, as always your models look fantastic! You've been a huge inspiration to my IW project I've got going on right now Is there any chance you'd be willing to post a step-by-step pic/diagram tutorial on the weathering for your hazard stripes? That is the exact effect I'm looking to do on my tanks.  It looks gritty and realistic without being overkill

I'll try & see, just right now it down to time.

 

For the chip effect.  I use a medium dry brush from Games Workshop & stipple the Abaddon Black over the strip parts.  Just dab the brush on paper/what ever you use to clean the brush & just use the stipple technique/pretty much dabbing the brush onto the area you want chip effect on.

Then use foam or sponge (sp) with metal paint (I usely use Runefang steel), again dab this onto the paper make sure there no to much & use that onto the model.

Update

 

First up, I was that a local wargaming show today - Carronade in Falkirk. While I was busy with Bring & buy table, sell off spure. I'd give a few friends a list of models to keep a eye out for & let me know, just Bring & buy always busy & I never really get to leave there until time finish. Mainly OOP models which can be hit or miss & bitz.

 

Well, on that list was a 2nd ed era metal Chaos Dreadnought. I've already shown the classic model that I have in my Iron Warriors since 2001, was repainted this time last year to re-join the ranks & to gain more glory & honour for the 5th Grand Company.

Just I like the model & though if there one that this event I'd try pick it up, but I did doubt it, as said can be hit or miss...................

 

5 min, one my friends come up with a box asking if that was the model. Person selling it know me from local event & later on (after bring & buy time slot was finish) when i went to say thanks. They commented they where going to try see me before the event started & let me know they where selling a lot 2nd ed era Chaos model & that they where happy the Dreadnought was going to a good home.

 

After I finish with bring & buy............another group friends show up, tell me there another Dreadnought for sale.

So yes, got two metal Chaos Dreadnought now & a really good price. All complete & prett much like brand new, they've not been paint strip or any glue been use on them.

Just really wired how that all happen. As said I never really exspect to get one never mind two & for a really good price as well. Also both models are White Metal.

Also got a few other bitz, Marine & Eldar part as trophies for my Berzerker Rhino

Just re-watch the Hobbit battle of the five armies get some idea as well. Also with tomorrow off, I'm going to get the Rhino transport for my Berzerker converted up.

 

Also found one of the first Berzerker who was part of my 2001 era Iron Warriors. Found him in a case while looking for models for the wargaming event along with a few other Iron Warriors from 2001 just when the Chaos Marine squad got updated, before that it was useing Berzerker box set with Tactical Marines back then. I think I spotted a few more battle brother from this unit in a box, double check that tomorrow & get them for the display cabints. Also found my Land Raider from 2001 I've posted before, which will also join them as part of my Iron Warriors history.

ETL progress/update

 

Just spend today recover from travel back from Nottingham.  I was in Nottingham on Friday - Saturday for the Warhammer World open event, with Warhammer World spending the past year adding new & cool stuff.
It was a really great day & the new display where........ pretty much I was hobby shell shock, there was a lot of cool things.  Really looking forward to seen these new display when I'm back down for Throne of Skulls.

So during the week saw me painting the Rhino transport for my Berzerker.  With this week being busy with really great day that Warhammer World.  I've still got a lot to paint on this model.  Hopeful spend some time ether Tuesday or Friday painting the Rhino, if all goes to plan try get the model varnish & add Forge World weather powder during the weekend.

Then with today off, just to recover from the travel side. I though I would get as much models built during today.......... but it was a struggle. It taken me from 10.30am until 5pm just to get these five models built. Just I don't react when travel for a few hours.

I've just got the Champion to convert up. But I'm waiting on a Forge World order to arrive, just few things that where not there during yesterday.

Like wise, both Dreadnought are waiting on there arm's to arrive from Forge World.

Just around 8pm starting building my second Ranger unit. I've got two more models to build, though one going to have to wait until I can get another Plasma. While the last model going to be swap with the unit I painted a while back due to forgetting to add the wargear -1 to cover save.

Word Bearer Trophie going to rep my game vs Matt from Throne of Skulls Oct 2012. Red Scorpain Honour guard is base on my friend army from the 7000pt game over just last year before he move to USA. Nids base on my friend Nids that went to Rapid Fire event.

Also just got the new Mechanicus unit built up. I done a little conversion adding extra servo arm's to the gun area & use the camera from the other unit/part from them. Then got this lot undercaoted & spray with Leadbelcher spray earily today. Really looking forward to painting this unit.
Like wise I've made my 1850pts list a hour ago, no idea what it like but this is a brand new army & somthing diffrent vs my Iron Warriors, Raven Wing or Space Wolves & exspect to be learning a lot as well as always adding cool new models & units.

Just started building my Knight who will be Warlord. I have the idea, going to be borrow a few models from friends just to see if they idea work before going out & buy the parts. Right now the conversion image I have in my head looking cool.  Also thanks to Teetengee for the idea over on ETL topic you suggested.

This may possible be my 2nd or 3rd vow once the above complete.
There also the Dark Angels Chaplain that was leak on the forum a few days ago. Just I said before I use to have a Fallen Angel Battle Brother in my IW force back when I started them 2001-2002 for Conflict Scotland. I like the whole idea of Cypher who'd just been release back then & also the bloodquest comic show a Fallen Angel who led a Chaos Warband.
I've been trying think of a way of bring this person back into my army. That model really help that & is perfect for the conversion.

 

So see what happen, maybe making the Fallen - Lord for ETL, would give me a little more time converting wise for the Knight?

- Mechanicus books: I've really like the painting guide for the Space Wolves & Blood Angels & just good to have around for referance. Also lot of cool background on the armies displayed in the book which is really great as well.

 

- White Dward 71, always like pick up WD/read during the weekend. I'm looking forward to trying convert up some of the new Devastators, use some parts for a new Havoc unit

 

- Space Marines assault & tactical: These are for my Space Wolves, I've been mean to get back to this army & update them since the codex was release last year. With the Mechanicus range sold out that my local store, I though I get them & finial make a bit more progress, you can find the army log here

Update time

 

A while back I pick up a fourth Knight model. One of the things I wanted to do for this conversion was to help add a siege theme to the Knight model & also to try make this my own. It was suggested about adding weapons to the hull armour & right away though of hellcannons. The right arm going to be replease with the ball & chain from the Skaven Screaming bell kit to further add to that siege theme.

 

So right now the Knight still very WIP. Hope to add green stuff tomorrow try add a Obliterator virus to cover up some gaps. Biohazard had a space part from the Zombie dragon kit which is going to be very helpful & added to the third Hellcannon part.

Yes the new Devastators box set are really cool & have a lot of parts to use for conversion.  Mix the legs with Chaos bodies or Horus Heresy MkIII armour & your sorted.  There a lot parts & if your friends have a box set as well, you can always swap the heavy weapons.

Thanks Midnight Runner.  I should have the Fallen Angel undercaoted tomorrow.  Also been working away painting the Knight.  He starting to get there.  I'm hoping the Iron Warriors transfer (shown Warhammer World open day) are on pre-release that the Forge World open day this Sunday.  A friend been ask to keep a eye out if they are on sale.

But right now the Knight getting there.  I'll try add another in the near future, possible Call of Chaos?  This way I can use them as a stand alone army as well.  Also because the Knight are great to build & paint.

Word can not say how happy I am about this. I've just ran from the train stastion to my home just to see this. I got a message from my friend saying had I seen the Lord of Iron, they said they already pick him up for me.

 

I can not wait.

He will be a Knight Errant, the Melta type.  Think of the weapon sort fire out wild fire if you watch Game of Thrones during the battle of black water type thing.

I just need to add green stuff over the wooden effect on the Skaven part, so hopeful get that done during the weekend as well as adding clump foliage for that smoke/fume effect to the engian (sp) part just behind the cannon/on the Knight model.

I'm hoping FW release the Chaos Knight rule next week & possible try that out in a game. Just me & a friend arrange when Vulken was release to have a 1875pts + free Primarch (not 30k) just for fun. So see if that can be arrange for next week.

Since the photo was taken, the edge of the base has been re-painted to cover up the water effect that flow over.

 

Yesterday I pick up the lord of Iron Warriors - Perturabo, Lord of Iron from my friend yesterday who pick up the model from the Forge World open day. Needless to say I've been really happy since seen the model preview as being sold that the event. He look cool & match with how I wanted the model. I've waited three years for the Lord of Iron to be release after Forge World annouce that they where running Horus Heresy rules & models.

I'm just working out how I want to paint the destroyed Knight. Want to base this around one of my friends.

 

Also another friend give me the Chaos half of Age of Sigmar......... going to build up a Daemonkin force, if all goes to plan this might be part of my Call of Chaos vow. So I'll keep the spure to one side until I gather all the parts for those conversion & spent a day or week of I got later on this year.

Quick update.

 

I've been painting the Lord of Iron, Primarch of my favrout army & Legion during last week.  In all it been about 7 hour painting the Lord of Iron.  Then adding weather powder just to help finish the model :D  I've really enjoy painting the Lord of Iron & very grateful for my friend pick up my Primarch during the Forge World open day.

I've just complete my vow 2.  I'm gutted the IW Forge World transfer have not been release right now (seen Warhammer World open day) but once they are, I'm looking forward to adding them to my Siege Knight.  But right now the models are complete for ETL :D

New Havoc unit useing the Devastators box set. This unit was never planned, just as soon as the Devastators where annouce, I knew I needed to convert up the kit for my IW, there a lot of cool parts & well worth buying.

More work on the Knight. I had Sunday off & spent this getting some hobby done & just spent time on the PS4. I've try the clump foliage effect like you can see on Nick Bayton Ultramarine army in Warhammer Vision & few week ago White Dwarf. Also the Chaos vs Ultramarine diorama in Warhammer World. Though be a cool effect to try, theme it around the IW current home planet with in the eye of terror with fume, toxic, etc....

The finish Fallen Angel Battle Brother. Once again I'm happy to brought him back into my IW army. Aim been to bring back all these charecter & units that have been a big part of my IW history since 2001 up to now. All updated & to carry on the glory & history in the brillaint games they will take part in. Along with a lot of the new units like my Knight or Bloodthirster for exsample. All about adding cool models, letting the conversion tell the stories & having those epic games add onto there history

With Vow 2 finish, I've quickly put a third & finial vow.  Last week that my wargaming club a friend had given me a box with 2nd ed era Chaos Metal models.  Chaos Marines w/Heavy Weapon, specil weapon, Bloodletter, Horror & a Chaos Sorcerer.

 

It was really cool. Like Warsmith Abhorred Riddick where I done a recent (last year) Mk2 version just update. I though I do the same for Sorcerer Krull. As said a while back, it was this type Sorcerer model I bought back 2002 day before Conflict Scotland to paint up for my IW because he was a cool model. Krull went on to become a big part of my IW army & history.
When I re-start the army in it current state I went on to convert a plastic version of him during Call of Chaos 2011.

So this model going to get painted as my finial model for this year ETL.

Krull - Left: One I got from my friend. Middile: Krull paint back 2002 day before Conflict Scotland. Thanks.  I was really happy when my friend said they'd mange to pick up the Lord of Iron for me from the Forge World open day.  Just really grateful to gotten my Primarch.  He'd take 7 hour in all to paint + 1 hour waiting on shade to dry for the metallic armour.  Maybe a hour for the Forge World weather powder.  Just really enjoy painting Perturabo.  I've already use him in a game - 1875pts + free Primarch vs my friend Salamander with Vulken.

We've got a re-match next week with 1875pts + Free Primarch + 4x Knights as they've recently completed there Imperial Knight force & want to try them out.  While I've got new Chaos Knight rules to try out :D

Thanks - Yes just wanted to show trophies.  Talons of Horus talk about a few of the monster in the warp & about Abaddon battle them.  So these will be base on Daemons/Monster my Iron Warriors have fought.

- Dark Mechanicus: As said it to try get this army on the go. I've been struggle with which way I wanted to go with the army. I'm ether going to try out the White Dwarf formastion or a friend point out that on the GW web site there a formation on there where it a bit of everything? Just allow me to get use to them & just as always add cool new models.

 

- Sorcerer. My Iron Warriors are going to take part in a small event in a month time, on my birthday infact. It 750pts. I was going to take a Sorcerer to led the army & though I'd convert up a brand new one useing the Night Lord Terror squad helmet & possible Death Guard MkIII upgrade bodies? Not quite sure yet. Right now it just trying get that idea together.

 

- Week off in September:  Again with my birthday, usely take the week led up off.  So I want to try spend some time during the week painting up some my own models.  Not quite sure yet what I will get done?  Last year was really cool getting the Land Raider painted & also pick up few dvd's to watch (Captain America 2 & Iron Clad 2) from HMV store to watch while painting the Land Raider.
Want to try get the model sorted & bought soon so I can get it all built & ready for painting for that week off in a month time :D

 

- Also need to make a small display useing the old GW movment tray.

- Call of Chaos: Currently planning what units I will be putting forward for this year Call of Chaos. One them going to be a Bloodborn type unit, see Khârn Eater of World, though be cool & have them as part of my Iron Warriors force. Also after converting the Berzerker unit, the FW upgrade kits are cool & that the main thing that the end of the day.

Thanks Kythnos - It would be really great to see the Tech Priest model in your own IW army.  He really great to build & paint, one of my favrout single spure models along with the Dark Angels Chaplain & Chaos Champion.

Thanks Sn4k30r.  Yes, there always be new models to add to my army.  Just really like collecting Chaos, with Ravenwing & Space Wolves.  Just post this part under my update :D 

Call of Chaos, I think I'll get a new unit of Chosen added once a few more Horus Heresy upgrade are release - Blood Angels, still working out what else I'll add so that'll be sorted near the time.  There a fifth Chaos Knight, this way I'll have a new stand alone army & I just enjoy converting & painting these models.

But right now a lot focuse will be getting my Dark Mechanicus done, try get them ready for some games soon :D
