Just got the classic metal Chaos Dreadnought finish painted yesterday (Saturday) & now join his battle brother 2nd ed era Chaos Dreadnought on the display shelf.

I also spent a bit of time yesterday painting up the Iron Warrior Warsmith model. I'm going to make a new base for him, with the whole army move over to 32mm base. Still a few part tidy up painting wise. Try get this done some point during the holidays.

• Raptors are for the unit of Iron Warriors I should hopeful get for Christmas, the Forgefane theme unit.
• Nids, same as the Raptors. Just wanted to pick up these kits to be safe/not sell out that my local Warhammer Store & so I can build the unit when time permit.
• Dreadnought & Sentinal & Assassin are the the coversion just shown below this.

Just spent a few hour building up a new Dreadnought. Inspired by GuitaRasmus Chaos Dreadnought & Eddie Blood Angels+Salamander Dreadnoughts seen in Warhammer Vision &/or the Games Workshop what new today blog.

 

I might end up building a few Cultist squads to go with him as part of the Helbrute formastion & think it will be cool for theme/background.

Also built up the Juggernaut Lord. I've been thinking of adding a Juggernaut Lord for a while now, part from seen all the really cool conversion on the forum in a lot of cool Chaos Armies. Part as a nod toward the 2nd ed Metal Juggernaut Lord. Part - Just so I've got chose when it come to gaming.

I'm in love with that dread! The sentinel legs are fantastic. And I love what you did with the magmacutters, they are fantastic looking dread arms.

We may see the mace use on my new squad of Iron Warriors I plan.  But I'll need to waiting until Christmas :D

 

Also just got my Throne of Skulls March tickets.  I'm really looking forward to returing to a Throne of Skulls event & as always just to be back down that Warhammer World after the open day in May & the 40k open day back in October.
More on that in the near future, but for time being................

 

 

Update

 

Spent a bit of today painting up the Lord on Juggernaut & squad Be Graphicus led by Champion Uzas Vel 32mm base. Just getting as much hobby done during the holidays, with the next few days from Christmas to New Year going to be really busy.

 

I replace the Lord weapon with the Axe from the Khorne Icon bearer from the Age of Sigmar box game set. Once the model all varnish this will get a lot of Blood for the Blood God added.

The Assassin added as a Trophie. Quick bit on this. I bought the Assassin game when it was release as the new model where cool, but selling off the Chaos side. I was aim to use my own Iron Warriors, Cultist & Sorcerer, use this as a way to help build up some cool theme & background to my Sorcerer that I converted up on 2014/last year.

So though be cool to have this as a "what happen" to the Assassins strike force that where sent to take down my Sorcerer in Terminator armour.

Rebase to 32mm base. As said for past while. One of my aims where to rebase my Power Armour models from my Iron Warriors. They look cool.

So here the first lot since getting the rebase done during last week/start of my Christmas holidays.

 

Sorcerer Krull. Krull was converted & painted back in 2012, carry on his glory. The orignaly Krull model (shown in past updates) has been a big part of my Grand Company over the years collecting my Iron Warriors.

I'm aim on spending tomorrow to try get as much hobby painted as possible. As the next few days/week going to be really busy. So tomorrow going to be spent painting up the brand new Dreadnought. Try & finish painting the Juggernaut Lord so he ready to get varnish. I'm also going to paint the 32mm base for my Iron Havoc unit I converted up last year with the assault cannon.

 

If I get time later one, I want to get squad Apocalypse led by Champion Kroege Santarr 32mm base painted. Another Veteran of the 5th Grand Company since 2001.

After seeing the original conversion of the dread with sentinel legs I have to admit yours looks so much better. The Flesh Tearers dread looks like he will tip over his own legs any moment.

That a good call.  During the Warhammer 40k open day that Warhammer World I saw this really cool conversion in a Iron Warriors force on display that was really inspiring.

Christmas has been & gone now until another year Hobby wise I got a box of Chaos Space Marines along with Rhino & Forge World IW doors. Along with a few paint brush & shade/wash & medium.

The Chaos Marine squad going to be converted up & theme around those who made it through Forgefane. Forgefane was a Iron Warrior planet that was over ran by Nids with the Warsmith eaten by a Trygon & the Grand Company taken heavy loss. Background for this can be found in the White Dwarf when the Trygon was orignaly release & bit more on Armour 13 Lost & the Damned. So idea this unit was pick up by my own 5th Grand Company.

This also came about when I was that the Warhammer 40,000 open day that Warhammer World back in October. They had a lot cool armies on display & once of these was a Salamander force that led to the idea along with the Forgefane background.

From during the past few days - Rebase 32mm phase 1 nearly finish. Here the first lot of models that where rebase during the first week of my Christmas holidays. I've still got squad 3 & the Breacher unit I built last year for Rapid Fire, they just need varnish & then water effect added.

Also pick up this lot today with Christmas money I got during the past few days. I ended up rolling a dice (1-2: Knight, 3-4 Chaos Marines, 5-6 Terminators). So I'll get my Forgefane unit push forward. I've also just place a order with Bitz Box for Heavy Bolter, pockets & spotted they had the Honour Guard helmets from Forge World in stock as well to help build up the last few Battle Brother I need for this unit. I'll go for 7 models in this unit.

 

Then Assassin once more for the base. While the Assassin's might get built as he is a cool model.

Models still waiting to get painted. I was hoping to go to my local store yesterday & get some painting & little space. But ended up not been to great with a headache on Tuesday follow by no sleep during the night due to recent bad storms. But I'll hopeful get them painted next week or possible try get Saturday kept aside to get the Juggernaut Lord finish painted.

So pretty much it just to

• This weekend get the two Forgefane models finish painted.
• Get the Autocannon Terminator finish painted during the weekend as well
• Get Rhino built during the weekend & try get the armour plates cut out from plasticard.
• Just buy box of Chaos Marines to get the Champion & Heavy Bolter arm models converted for the Forgefane unit, along with the White Dwarf.
• If the weather get a little better.  Try get all the models varnish, from those show above to the models that where recently rebase to 32mm base.

So 12x Dreadnought, with formation & diffrent Dreadnought units from Armour 13 Lost & the Damned. The Maulerfiend to help with points - 1850pts & just try them out bit more in games.

Little bit more work done to the Dreadnought.  Just unsure what to do for the left shine pad, I've just place a order with Forge World for the IW transfer sheet.  Work out somthing with that.

Also just pick the Necromunda Pit Slave model up on ebay. He going to be kept to one side as Champion for my Close Combat unit of Cultist. Pretty much I'm waiting/hoping Necromunda get re-release & we see plastic or that least new models for the Pit Slaves. I'll also be aim to use other Necromunda models when/if there release for the Renegade list from Lost & the Damned & general my Chaos Guard force.

Mange to get the Rhino ready for the Forgefane unit, apart from the top hatch & crew. So this will get painted on Wed. Saw the ladder/terrain & though might been good as somthing to use/duck board for trenchies? Along with any city fight.

While looking though a few White Dwarfs. I've been re-reading Pete Haines article on how his own Iron Warrior force came about during 2nd ed, to 3rd ed. How the army use to belong to Andy Chamber as well.

Also during the Warhammer World grand open in May I spent some time talking to Phil Kelly about both our Chaos armies & conversion idea. Phil suggested to me about possible converting up the Mechanicus Servitor models as havocs for my Iron Warriors, see some of Honosu short stories. So somthing that I'll try get around convert up in the future, possible ETL or Call of Chaos this year?

Also a quick hobby tip.

 

So looking out side yesterday during the day. I though it look alright to try get some varnish done to the rebase Iron Warriors models. After a few weeks waiting due to storms, heavy rain, low tempreture (sp) & during last week snow. So it not been the best & yesterday............well seem it was not the day/change/time.

 

It result in my two Havoc units - Launcher & Autocannon units that where both built & painted around 2012 as part of Call of Chaos. Both units suffer with the varnish going all frost. Both unit Champion taken on the worst of this............. needless to say I went into a panic phase. Models I've really enjoy building & painting, lot went into them.

 

But found out I could sort my models. Few friends suggested to use olive oil on the parts where the varnish was that it worst. But none them use it them selfs, just read about it. So give it try, pretty much

 

• Use paint brush & put olive oil onto the model where the varnish has went funny/front/worst.
• I left this for 30 min, on facebook few people said they've left it for 24 hours. It just let it set in.
• Then remove the olive oil, I'd use little bit of fairy washing up liquid mix with water. Just use paint brush again & also dab the water on with paper towl & then wipe off the water with the paper towl.

Then models are back as good as new.

 

So the Champion blow was the worst effected, with about 75% been frost over. So shoulder pad, bolter, legs, armour loin cloth, face, etc.... Then this is the photo just around after the olive oil & clean the model.

So it just good to know for future referance. But still gutted it happen, same time I'm thankful get the models back to normal.

 

I'll get water effect added onto the Havoc units, as well as the two Warpsmith. Then they can join the ranks once more on display/shelfs.

The Dreadnought won in the end but with heavy loss.  Was really fun game & both of us where suprise in one round combat my Dreadnoughts failed ever single hit vs unit of Mega Armour Orks & only for them to all fail there hits in return.

 

Since then, there building up a Deff Dread + Killer kan models for a unbound force & want to try get a rematch, just there fan of robot end of the day.  For me it was just nice to try out some diffrent unit chose from Armour 13 along with the formation.

So here the two Havocs units that suffer a bit of a problem with the weather & varnish from the last update. But since then have been fix & back into the ranks of the 5th Grand Company. Same with the two Warpsmith as well who where getting varnish same time.

Warpsmith rebase to 32mm base. One to the right was painted back in March 2013 thanks to a free £10 gift voucher due to a mess up & delay to a important order for me. Pick up the Forge World Tech Marine model with that during Throne of Skulls March.

One to left was done near the end 2013? as part of Call of Chaos & inspired by the computer game RYSE of Rome - Damocles (?) a Roman soldier of vengance who wear black armour & death mask.

I've just got a Sorcerer useing Erebus & Cypher to rebase. I'm unsure what I'll do with Erebus with the FW base part for the 25mm & if it will still be ok on the 32mm along with sand.

While Cypher I'll need to make a brand new base. I don't seem to have a base spare from the Dark Angel Chaplain model, but I might look into useing one of the Assassin base, maybe the Vidicator Assassin's base for Cypher new base.

Then my fifth Chaos Knight that current getting painted.  This just allow me to use a stand alone force of Knights.  There just really great models to build & paint & one of my all time favrout kits.

I'm also current waiting on my Forge World order to arrive hopeful during this week.  It Justerian Terminators along with IW MkII helmet.  I'm going to use the shields from the Age of Sigmar chosen chaos knight (sorry not sure there name?) to theme them around as a Siege Breacher terminators squad.  This is going to be part of my force for Throne of Skulls March which is happen soon.

I also need to try get around & built a Autocannon Terminator for Lord Narach unit of Terminator Bodyguards as well.

Update

 

During the weekend there, I took part in Throne of Skulls March: Carnage in Warhammer World. It was a really great weekend, with great games, seen really cool armies, seen really cool display again & buying new models.

 

For Throne of Skulls I chose to take down two unbound armies with me.

 

- Terminators: This has been a force I've been planning for a while to use in a Throne of Skulls. When I saw March, I knew right away I'd use this as my deadline to get my Terminator force complete. This saw me getting the Siege Breacher theme unit painted during past few days before attending the event.

 

- Knights: I'd just bought my fifth Chaos Knight & though I'd take a unbound Chaos Knight force with me as well. This also give me a deadline to complete the new model. Also I really enjoy building & painting the Knights, there some of the best models & the video by Games Workshop on youtube really inspring (sp?)

 

Overall, it was remind me of Storm of Iron. In fact when the Knight was annouce (already said in the update back then) I was just reading the Titan battle scene in the Storm of Iron novel.

So here the Knight I was painting during the second finial week before Throne of Skulls. He was finish on Monday? Just I wanted to try keep all the finish models as a suprise when going to the event. I also spent Monday adding the Forge World soot weather powder onto the engines to help further add that theme as been part of the Iron Warriors Legion.

- Bloodletter: I'm wanting to start my Daemons again. I'm also going to use a few unit of Bloodletter for summon when I try out my Chaos Knights with the Daemonkin codex, thanks Midnight runner for that idea & will be really cool theme/background.

I'm going to use the Chaos vs Ultramarine display for idea for painting the Bloodletter. But yes, keep a eye out for Daemons in the future.

 

- Kytan: Since seen the model during last year Warhammer World re-grand open been preview & on the Chaos vs Ultramarine display. I've been wanting to add the Kytan to my force. But I've had a lot of other hobby to get done or money needd for other things.
Since Warhammer World has a brand new Forge World store & with the model been in stock, I though it would be time to add the model sooner than later.

 

For Throne of Skulls

 

I had a lot of great games. I got a grudge match against my friend Rich & his Tau, dispite going to Throne of Skulls event for past while we've never really gotten a game until Saturday. Really fun game & Rich shown me that Tau are just as good in combat as they are as a gun line force that there normal know for.

 

Then grudge match against Dave & his Mechanicus. I battle against Dave during Throne of Skulls Sept, against his Imperial Fist force & there was a lot of epic moment, real fun game. So we've got our grudge game sorted for a re-match. Talking during the event, we've planned to try link any future games together to try forge a background & theme which will be pretty cool. The Mechanicus trophies I have on my Iron Warriors force will be theme on Dave force.

 

This is why I like attending event - Getting great games & seen cool armies. Throne of Skulls is how I enjoy the gaming side of the hobby/event wise. While I'm not all to keen on ETC or more hardcore events, other like it & I have no issue, end of the day it all about find what you enjoy in the hobby.

 

My Iron Warriors where also up for Army Nominee, along with both really cool Chaos Marine force (see below) & Space Marine force which won the Best army award in the end. It was really tough, as there where another 8 or 9 armies on the list, but only three armies where going onto display due to space.

They where all really cool & again, I like going to Throne of Skulls events to see other people armies, it great seen fully painted armies that a event. There a lot of really great ideas & while I may not collect say - Tau, there idea there I can use on a current force.

Everyone who attended Throne of Skulls March got maelstorm cards just for this event. There really fun & reward aggressive play style I'm looking forward to trying these cards out in future games against my friends.

Then the Chaos vs Ultramarine display. This is my favrout, I always enjoy seen this display when going to Warhammer World since they where all brought in last year during the update. Ever time I've went to see the display there always somthing I've never notice before. As always it great to check out for idea's. As said I'm currently adding Bloodletter to my Iron Warriors.
