awesome, loving it all!

On the latest entry: first line, most zealous, aggressive, and introspective of all the the Unforgiven bloodline. Borne of heroes of the First Legion.

Born should be spelt born, yes? Not borne.

And, one quick question, do the armour marks from Forgeworld come with bases?

Cheers

WoW!!! Candleshoes, love your take on AoR! I knew you were on it given your other thread, but a MkII!!! Go AoRs! The detail on the boltgun just shows the amount of detail you are putting on this project... Did you consider doing the border of the shoulder pad in metalics? Gold might look too official placing him above his rank maybe, but how about a dark metal? Like the visor of his helmet?

Very VERY nice work, very Candleshoe-y my I add! :D

Now robes! Oh, and the other guys! ;)

Thanks everyone for the comments.

With all this successor talk lately, and some experimenting, I decided to take the army in a different direction and am really pleased with how its turning out so far. After overcoming the terrifying hurdle that is painting bone white, I think I have found something that really speaks and that I really enjoyed painting.

Since all manner of marks and bits will continue to be utilized, I think my schemes will vary model to model Captain Semper, this one was more of a paint trial than anything else, but metallic rims on the shoulder guards are a great idea that many on these forums have made looks immaculate.

Just wanted to put up a pick of the Deimos Pattern Predator, before it goes into the paint-shop. I went with the heavy bolter sponsons, for the sheer cool factor of the drum ammunition feeders. Next models on the paint block are a forgeworld MK5 marine in the AoR scheme, followed by a robed marine, testing out the brown robe scheme chosen in the other thread.

I decided to go with all red for the veteran helms and the terminators. I tried with black and a red stripe, but it ended up looking way too busy. I am pleased, and on the tabletop, the full red really stands out. No weathering, marking, battle damage have been applied yet, still just working on getting more bodies active. Also, this is test 1 for the “Brown Robes”, hopefully I can get some feedback to see whether or not this was a good choice of color, or if I should change it. The termie also has a triangle red marking on his storm bolter.

This was actually a save, I painted the Crux about 7 times and was not happy with it, by this time, it was so over painted that no detail could be seen. I got fed up, carved the whole thing off, and did a brass etching instead. It looks a little rough, but with the rust and leaking ash I plan on putting on, it will fade in.

I hated the head on this original, so I decided after some criticism from a friend to redo it. I am much happier with this result. Some may also notice the difference in white between this and the termie. As I get more practice painting it, the results should begin to even out.

And here is the beginning bits of a MadDoc inspired champion.

Hope you guys like what I have been up to, I started work on my contemptor, as well, have about 4 more normal marines at about 50%, more should be coming soon for the Angels of Redemption!

This is the definitive "Grimdark"!!!

Look at this PA guy! he looks both disturbed and disturbing... How did you manage that? Love the termie - red is a complementary color for the Angels of Redemption - the chest eagle for example... So yeah, good choise there!

And yes, get more bodies out there, and the brown robes! Can't wait for the champion too...

This is the most awesome log - kudos man!

Good luck with this new sub-project. I know it'll be awesome as is everything in this thread! It's great that you want to play along even in an unofficial manner! The story looks great so far can't wait for more... Very well written! You sure you can't bring it within the rules? I mean a story on an unexplored aspect of the Unforgiven is compliant no? Of course you'll need to discuss it with GM Belial, he'll be the judge.

Keep walking!

Emerald and bone statue FTW!!!

In preparation for the mysterious and exciting E TENEBRAE LUX painting competition (hopefully), I just put another order in to Forgeworld, to round out my army, and to bring me to my 1500 point goal, give or take. A specific list will follow at some point, but it has more naturally come together by what I wanted, rather than what the best gaming and battle practice might say.

- 1 MkII ‘Crusade’-pattern and 1 MkIV ‘Maximus’-pattern apothecary set

- 5 Tartaros Pattern Terminators, with heavy flamer

- 10 MK II Crusade Armour space marines (really digging the split scheme on the older armour, without robes)

- Pre Heresy Heavy weapons - 2 heavy bolters, 2 plasma cannons, 2 lascannons, and 2 multi-meltas

- 10 Umbra Pattern Bolters

Next update will be another 2 Indomitus Pattern Terminators, 1 storm bolter and chainfist (I managed to fit a skeleton's ribcage on him...), the other, a cyclone missle launcher, storm bolter and chainfist (with an accompanying spotting servitor).

Just a quick side view for some people who asked to see the bone.

Thanks for the comments Captain Semper and Brother Immolator and the kind words.

I knocked out my 1,500 point list last night, thought I might put it up (without the fancy names and fluff frills, first).

- Terminator Librarian (Space Hulk Librarian) - Combi-Plasma - 150

- Mortis Pattern Dreadnaught (Contemptor) - Twin Autocannons - 125

- 5 Deathwing Terminators (Tartaros) - Heavy Flamer, 2 Chainfists - 230

- 5 Deathwing Terminators (Indomitus) - Cyclone Missle Launcher, Chainfist, Thunderhammer/Stormshield, Powersword - 240

- Predator (Deimos) - Autocannon, Heavy Bolters - 95

- 10 Tactical Marines - Plasma Gun, Plasma Cannon, Power Sword - 210

- 10 Tactical Marines - Plasma Gun, Lascannon - 200

- 10 Tactical Marines (All MK2 Crusade Armour) - Melta Gun, Multi Melta, Power Fist - 210

- Rhino (Deimos) - Storm Bolter - 40

I'm a little hesitant with the Space Hulk Librarian... I want to get rid of his Force Axe and replace it with a suitable 2 handed sword, but the thought of carving apart an out of print model seems ... blasphemous.

What do you all think? So far, though the sword,. at rest, or simply holding it, would look better and fit the theme more, but the model as is - is very nice and recognizable. Ideas are welcome and will very likely be followed.

Here is the stock model from the GW site for your memory.
