Bryan Blaire Posted February 21, 2013 Share Posted February 21, 2013 Facmanpob, really neat idea on the Whirlwind launcher conversion, you did a great job putting it together. My only thought on it is that they look too small with just the single launcher per side, I think if you could some how join two launchers per side, it would make it look a little more Whirlwind like. No matter what though, you did a beautiful job with the painting on that model, the dark red looks fantastic and all the dark metal with the weathering and battle damage is very, very cool. Also, really nice work on the text (but you can't read it because of the angle, what does it say?), it looks really good. I'll dig out some of my other spare launchers and see if I can mod it. If not it can always double as a Hyperios Air Defence Launcher EDIT - the text on the front of the Rhino says "Coeratos" from the Latin "Coerator" meaning Guardian. Lets identify the pieces - Pic 1: front eagle from Sammael - Pic 2: also from Sammael (although not 100%) - Pic 3: looks like a scibor knight...which is making me think of the Scibor Sammy version. - Pic 4: a Dread plasma cannon - Pic 5: Back of an ironclad dread? But I remember them being only 2 chimneys, and it doesn't have the mechanicus... Curious curious, wanna know wanna know! So that fine chap above is going to be painted as 2 people....... on a less dramatic resin base I bought from the Fantascape Gothic ruins range he'll be my Guardians Belial counts-as http://i548.photobucket.com/albums/ii324/facmanpob/Miniatures/works%20in%20progress/download2_zps49d375df.jpg and on his Scibor uber-base, he'll be the Lion himself (if I ever field a Heresy force) http://i548.photobucket.com/albums/ii324/facmanpob/Miniatures/works%20in%20progress/download1_zps8058d368.jpg So, he'll be painted as if he's wearing an ancient suit of armour forged in the very fires of Mount Doom...... No, wait, wrong franchise! ..... forged in the very heart of the Martian workshops by the finest artificers. The Scibor armour is terminator-y enough that it can be used as terminator armour, but the models are also big enough that it could simply be a massive suit of Artificer Armour. So, it'll be black with lots of gold filigree etc........I've magnetised his arms and the bases too, so swapping him around is easy! :) However, I'm not starting on him just yet........ Yeah, I understand that the Golden armour won't be to everyone's taste, but I specifically wanted to make it as far from Dark Angels Sammael as possible and I decided to try gold. Thanks for the positive comment about the eagle - its about the only bit of the model that I actually think is finished! As for the robes, they aren't done yet, they are way too homogenous at the moment. facmanpob Posted March 18, 2013 Author Share Posted March 18, 2013 OK, so I've managed to almost finish Sammy......soooo close - will get him done tonight and post some photos either tonight or tomorrow. The Dread is about half done...... he's based and magnetised, and I'm starting to think about detail painting rather than large scale painting. I reckon I can get him finished by the end of the week, so no stress about the PtR. I've also managed to rewrite the fluff of the GotC from Grandmaster Belial's thread, so keep your eyes posted there from tomorrow for that to start appearing....... its all go! I finished Sammael on Corvex last night, and managed to get a couple of quick shots of him this morning before setting off for work. There's a little bit of work still left to do on the base but he's good enough for government work!
