As I'm on a roll with old models, I thought I'd turn my hand to this trusty beast.... He was one of my first SM purchases, and the somewhat cack-handed paint job is testimony to that! So, the plan is to give him the 1st company make-over. As the Rifleman is part of 3rd Company, and so has a black main body, so this Dread is part of 1st Company, and will be painted to tie in with the Terminators..... and here he is, all complete and finished. I hate you ;) lol. lol - I'm looking forward to seeing your take on the GotC - from following your work on the Blades you seem to have a different style of painting to me, so it'll be cool to see what you do with the GotC and all the other chapters in your 2013 quest! : On another note, I'm posting heavily this morning, even though I'm at work.....it's all because I'm excited.....I have a half day's holiday booked and I'm leaving to see The Hobbit in less than 2 hours time! Captain Semper Posted December 14, 2012 Share Posted December 14, 2012 Well this is top notch as per usual, I particularly like the hazard stripes on the "fingers" - an excellent detail! :D The text on the right shoulder is also very well made as is the lense. ;) The only thing that I'm not so sure about is the use of blue as a complementary color... Generally speaking I'm not a big fan of blue when used as a contrast color vs. green or red... But that's personal taste, technically speaking it's awesome! Plan is to leave it as is and the review after a few months. This weekend was chaos (with a small 'c') in the fmp household, with the impending arrival of the ravenous hordes (i.e. the rest of the family :)) for the Xmas holiday. The upshot of this is that apart from some tinkering about, not much is going to happen on the painting front until after New Year. I've completed my December PtR vow already though, which is nice. So, the plan for January is to paint a PtR vow (Dark Vengeance Captain probably), try to get some extra vows in for the months I missed (DV combat squad and DV Ravenwing Sergeant Libby conversion will be top of my list). February would then see me finish the PtR with a vow (possibly Sammael's bike) and a special task from Shadow Guard. This will set me up nicely to go into the LPC with some new codex units on the table.... :) Hmmm, still leaves me with a Venerable Dreadnought, box of termies, half a dozen bikes, an attack bike and 2 speeders to finish though :) (not to mention the DV chaos figures and some Orks which are sitting in a cupboard!).... ....Oh, and the WFB High Elves......and the Ogres......and the 80 dwarves I bought from ebay for a tenner.... :tu: Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Its testament to the activity on our sub-forum that not posting in a thread for 2 weeks sees it demoted down to page 4!! B) So, although the PtR thread is not accepting vows yet for January, I'm champing at the bit as I've got some catching up to do! The plan is to complete 4 vows this month - 1 for January, and then 1 each for the missing months (Sep-Nov) - and then 2 vows in February - 1 for Feb itself, and 1 special task set by SG to ratify the 3 'catch-up' vows completed this month! The vows will be as follows - although they obviously won't be official until they are in the PtR thread...... One comment though: red gauntlets? I'm not so sure about that... But that's just personal taste, it has nothing to do with your great end result!
