I painted the cultists back in October or November, and the rest have just sat there staring at me since. So in between Dreadnoughts, Company Masters, Rhinos, Terminators and speeders, I've also managed to almost finish this...... I give you (very small so that the important people don't see...ssshhhh) .......... Anyway, The Shadow Guard has set me a special task to complete the ratification of my catch-up vows for the PtR - a Standard Bearer. this is the excuse I've been needing in order to bite the bullet and do my Company Standard for 3rd Company GotC. This is where I got about 18 monoths ago, and then never got round to finishing. So, first a repaint of the dude himself, and then on to the standard......I may also have to redo the vet with the Storm Shield just for fun cos his shield is complete pants! If it's the one I think you mean then its the Techmarine helmet from the Ravenwing Upgrade sprue. Â PtR Special Task is now complete. The 3rd Company banner isn't the most intricate thing in the world, but its the first time I've ever really attempted any sort of freehand painting, so I wanted to make sure I didn't try something too difficult and completely screw it up! I've decided to have 2 weeks away from the GotC ... just to recharge the batteries for what is to come So this week is devoted to terrain. I've just finished off my Aegis Defence Line (only had it primed for a year now!), and have a couple of buildings ready to go (the wip walkway in the photos below is part 1 of the building complex). I painted the cultists in October/November of last year, and finished Geoff the Helbrute last week (see 7 posts ago! ), but Geoff is feeling lonely and needs his friends the Chosen to join him. After the Chaos Marines are finished its back to the GotC. The plan is to finish off my 1500 point Ravenwing force first, by painting up Sammael and some Black Knights to join the RW I did during the ETL last year. After that I'll move on to the Deathwing, painting up Belial, the Knights and the Command Squad, before moving on to the Greenwing elements I still have to paint. Eventually I would like to be able to field 2000 points of RW, 2000 points of DW, and 2500 points of GW ........ and by then we should be staring 2014 in the face! Your thread is always fun to take a look at, and while it isn't DA and is a filthy traitor, Geoff the Hellbrute is looking very dapper in his bluish-purple and green. Anyway, its the end of my 2 week sabbatical, and whilst I did complete the scenery I want to paint, I have not managed to complete my Dark Vengeance Chaos Marines I have finished 4 of them, and the other 2 (plus Kranon) are about 50% complete. So I'm still plowing on with them this week. What I have done though is put together a painting list for all of the GotC I still have left to paint......and here it is...... 1st Company Belial Deathwing Knights Deathwing Command Squad 5 more terminators Venerable Dreadnought 2nd Company Sammael Ravenwing Command Squad Dark Vengeance bikes Librarian on Bike 4 x other bikes Attack Bike Speeder Dark Talon Dark Shroud Black Knights 3rd Company remaining 5 Dark Vengeance tacticals 5 more company vets 2 or 3 more Heavy weapon dudes for dev squads Predator Whirlwind I reckon that's at least 6 months work, and doesn't take into account a load of terrain I have to paint, and plans for an expanded Alpha Legion/1K Sons army....... Despite receiving a cut on the finger which nearly ended my life....well, it drew blood, anyway....I managed finally to finish the rest of my Chaos Marines (from the Dark Vengeance set. http://i548.photobucket.com/albums/ii324/facmanpob/Miniatures/Chaos/IMG_0924_zps21ae4ec8.jpg So, on with the GotC show! My next task is to kitbash a Whirlwind launcher from some Typhoon missile pods (got stacks of them lying around!) and bits of the mount for an Aegis line Quad gun. It fits perfectly on top of one of my Rhinos, so is a cheap (well free actually!) way of getting this great unit for use with my Greenwing!
