This army is amazing. Kudos to you facemanpob. I love the look and your use of colour. Inspired to tackle my undercoated DV models now. I'll be doing them as DAs, but will probably pinch your "coloured robes rather than coloured armour" idea.

Great looking models, and amazing work with the blue robe of the librarian! I, too, shall steal the idea of marking special 'professions' by differently coloured robes rather than armour. Your, and others' as well, DV models have really inspired me to get a set of them myself ;)

Carry on the good work!

Steal away! :D

So, the Librarian is complete! ...... although in taking the photos I've just realised that I haven't done the little skulls on the bottom of his robes! Dammit! Why do you only ever spot these things AFTER you've taken the photos?! <_<

Anyway, here he is........you may notice that I didn't base him in the slotta base supplied. I thought he was too nice a model not to do something a bit more fancy :)

That's awesome fmp,

I am loving the blue on the robe more and more but I must say that it seems odd and unfinished with the raised stripes not having been painted a different colour. I would think gold, yellow or lastly the same red as the DA symbol would be best but that's just my taste.

Great looking base, understated and not detracting from the awesomeness of the mini but executed perfectly. Well done.

@ Stobz: Oh dammit! :cuss: I've been looking at that hem thingy on the bottom of the robes and trying to use jedi powers to make it go away, beacuse I really don't like it. I like my robes to just go to the floor without fancy designs! And from tabletop distance you can't really see it, but you are right, I need to paint it. Not sure whether to do gold or red, I'll try my new pot of Gehenna's Gold out on it I think.

@ Captain Semper - I really am not sure about the shoulder pad. If you recall I didn't do anything with the skull on the shoulder pad of the Chaplain either, mainly cos I was worried what a giant bone head would look like! :)

Oh well, I've got to do the blades of reason on the Chaplain and the skulls on the bottom of the inner robes of the libby anyway, so I guess I'm not starting on the Rhino's for another night or two (sorry Isiah!). :P More photos to follow once finally complete! ;)

....he is damned near cool as Zeke.

Too true, too true, he is one of the coolest minis I've seen in a while....makes me wonder why they bothered with Finecast, when they can get this sort of result using what is essentially push-fit plastic, but that's a whole different issue! :)

Bang a sepia wash or similar over the skull to give it a little difference from the pad? Brainstorming.com

Yeah, that might be enough to set it apart. If it doesn't work I'll go over it with Gehennas gold and see how that looks. :)

very nice! lvoe the robes and the contrast with the metal.

the blue lightning bolt is a nice change too.

agree about why with the finecast vs plastics considering the detail. i imagine there is a good reason (cost to make molds vs parts etc maybe? better detail supposedly - yet to see it)

agree the bone work could do with a wash to give it a bit more depth

Okilee-dokilee! After the harsh and uncalled for criticism of Stobz and Captain Semper, I have completely repainted my Chaplain and Librarian! ;)

Only joking! I've done some touch-up work as per the suggestions, which were, of course, entirely correct, and I think I now consider the Chaplain and Librarian complete......... unless someone spots somthing else :)

Without further ado....

Wow, thanks, that's really kind! :tu:

Here's my current paint station. A prize for the first to correctly identify ALL the models :)

John, Paul, George, Ringo and Tupac

Sorry, it was Lord Lucan replacing Ringo on the drums. Ringo was busy recording Thomas the Tank Engine! ;)

Well, I managed to finish my Rhino and Razorback before the end of the month, which is nice. I also have to make an admission. Apart from the Landspeeder I painted as part of the ETL, these are the first vehicles (i.e. tanks) I have ever painted! :) Not entirely sure how I've managed to get this far in painting 40K stuff without painting a tank before, but there you go! They've been assembled and primed for over a year.......

Anyway, here they are......:)

The names come from pseudo-Latin translations of the words Guardian and Covenant
