Wow, your dread looks amazing! I really like the ETL badge on his leg, that was a very nice touch.

One thing...with all his long range firepower, I would have thought that you'd call him "Legolas".

Nah, it has to be boromir-- he needs the venerable reroll so he doesn't get snuffed a second time.

I don't think even the venerable reroll can save Initiate Bean from his fated demise. It would actually be pretty cool if he died in every game.

True, true! Re-rolls won't save him. But putting his life essence into a 3 metre robot might :D

And thank you everybody for the amazing feedback!

A quick, rough update. First, quick and messy highlight on the jump packs! 1st vow completion progress: 95%! Just one more highlight, clean-up, purity seals and assembly... and that's all. And I can finally paint my Marshal!

And the damaged, miscast jump pack in comparison to a regular one.

Finally, after a pretty rough real-life time and challenging painting period, I finished the first vow.

And without hesitation further pledged to complete two more units. My contribution is small, a mere 360 points, however this is all I can do right now. I cannot wait to get my Marshal painted!!

Blood Red, only. I add some blacks/yellows to get other shades. For the shoulder pad trims, I basically add a couple of layers of blood red and then add a layer of blood red+chaos black in the middle.

I thought I could try and make my Marshal's cape somewhat more special. So, I gave a new kind of freehand a try. I must say that the first version I made was better than the final: but I decided to improve on it, adding a layer of different colour. Still, I don't care, as it's just my first try at something like this and it won't be too visible either way: most of the inner side of the cape will be obscured.

An hour's work and a new experience. From this:

to this:

For the rear of the cape, I'm thinking a templar cross in a circle and some heraldry: Neurode and Dol Amroth badges. I'm still pondering over the colour, it's going to be either black (as the High Marshal's) or "standard" bleached bone, like 95% of my other capes.

So I'll give myself some more time to think about the colour, and do the metallics now. The armour will be black, but I'm considering doing gold highlights to show that it is more special. Fluffwise, I'm thinking about something like this: the armour is a combination of various relic parts whose lineage can be traced back to the Armour Indomitus.

EDIT / UPDATE:

What do you think? I wanted  to add more detail there, such as crusade badges, but now I think it suffices. Anything more would be too much, wouldn't it?

As always, thank you for the amazing comments. You're all too kind! :)

A quick update: basecoats + metallics.

Legs are mostly done. Here's the effect:

At first I wanted to make him a tabard. Then, a shorter tabard (the one with purity seals, a kind which can be found in the SM commander box). But then... I changed my mind again: why make the already barely visible freehand on the lining of the cloak even less visible? And the armour is fancy, with the big "belt buckle" piece... But now I'm thinking about adding some BT bling, such as this:

http://i90.photobucket.com/albums/k260/krj_38/ETL/P1070817_zps071623a2.jpg

It fits perfectly and... I think I'll go with it, instead of the tabard or nothing at all.

Moreover, I forgot to fit a lantern... an iconic bit for any BT character. But I figure that now it's too late for that. There's no place for it at the front. At the back (like hanging from the backpack/laying on the cloak) it covers up the free hand and gives a cramped impression. I'm still thinking about it, but in the end there'll be no lantern ( :( ) as I don't want to 'overdo' my Marshal.

Having seen all the components so far, and the fabulous freehand work, I would agree that in this case, less is more - he is going to look excellent and adding too much more will only detract from the wonderful detail you have already achieved.

Glorious freehand, glorious cape, glorious gold, glorious marshal, glorious everything! Also glorious work speed there, Brother.

Btw, where's that leg piece from, I seem to recall it, but not certain
